And is it just me, or is the eeepc now uninteresting considering the $500+ price tag? The $300 decent laptop is what I think made this series and this is killing it... Boo having windows preinstalled, and what happened to the option of 4GB SSD drive and 512mb RAM (although I dig the newer resolution)?
Should be around 400 EUR if Asus keeps their pricing system.
Hope we'll soon see a version with Atom CPUs :)
$550 is quite a bit of money, even if they are small.
Credit to ASUS for making the device attractive in a new market segment. But as other posters noted, keep a cut down version available for those on a low budget.
Also for the 2009 version, bring a Hi-Def screen even if only 10". We want 1280x1024 (or higher) married with larger 120DPI fonts, for better readability.
Either 16:10 16:9 or 4:3. But spare me with 5:4
Since when did it have the 1.7 GHz CPU? Sounds wrong to me.
They should have tried to keep the price at AU$499 or lower, like the old one!
If you want to try a really slow x86 CPU, try one from Transmeta.
