First Pictures of Sapphire HD 4850 1GB Presented

The ATI Radeon HD 4850 has been a success so far and Sapphire decides to expand their product range with Sapphire Radeon HD4850 1GB. Chinese website ITOCP released fresh pictures of this new card. It looks promising. This follows the release of pictures of the Toxic Radeon HD4850 we covered here.

The pictures show the card in the usual blue Sapphire PCB, and a heatsink covering in a similar fashion to that of some NVIDIA cards.

Let's hope it turns out to be 8 x 1Gb chips and not 16 chips (8 / side). I'm trying to look for a shot of the other side of the PCB.

that cooler is nothing but a standard 4850 cooler covered by some ugly blue cover, near the DVI ports you can even see it because the 4850 cooler curves,

why would they put an ugly blue cover on a cooler that already sucks

looks like tey married an 8800GT with a 4850 and had a hellspawn, its so uGLY

I could make a better looking stroud in my basement

maybe they'll be a discount cause its so fUgly

The PCB is definately not my favorite shade but hey...I don't ever have to really look at it once it's in anyway, I'd love to see some reviews on it though. And why do people say the cooler on the 4850 sucks? The cooler is just fine especially for a stock cooler, if you know what you're doing you can set the fan up yourself since there are no official drivers for the cards to make them work anyway. My fan cools just fine sitting at 55C idle and reaching max temp of 81C under Furbench stability test load. The fan speeds at those settings (automatically controlled not by profiles) are 33% and 59% respectively. Both of those settings are extremely quiet at all times, it's not until you actually get to 59% that you actually hear the cooler making noise at all and even then it's only a whisper.

Sure there are better coolers out there (I think I'm switching to the Gigabyte V-power soon) but the stock one doesn't suck it just got a bad rap from being released too early w/o drivers to control the cooler so it's stuck on a single setting until you reach a huge temperature when it'll kick up to a different one.

Btw...damn...that card really IS ugly!

OMG that cooler is ugly. It looks like something from 1953. Why didn't they just use a blue transparent cooler instead of the red one they launched with and keep the black sticker on it.

maybe the guy who were working on it had a 8800GT and a 4850 sitting next to each other and one of them said "I just got an Idea:eek:"

Still that crappy cooler, sure that keeps prices down but I would rather pay more instead of have to pay extra for an 3rd party cooler from TR or whoever.

Now i just purchased today the 512MB model ... the 1GB model ... lol!!! fu**ers!!! :D

It's just JK, i'm very happy of the change since 2xHD2600 Pro, this card is amazing, even with just 512MB i'm almost hitting 15k with 685Mhz/1020Mhz on the card ... maybe i'll purchase this 1GB within some months to do the X-Fire, should be great :)

Btw, the stock cooler of 4850 is not that crap ... if you up the speed till 40% (not too much noisy) it maintains 46ºC @ idle at stock clocks ... and arriving till 61-62ºC after 30mins full ... and this one seems better so i don't think it's bad at all. Same thing happened with 3870x2
