Games Convention 2008: MSI

Here are the highlights from the MSI booth at Games Convention.

The GeForce 9600 GT Hybrid Freezer uses a special cooler that keeps the card cool without fan most of the time. In case the card gets too hot for the passive solution the fan will kick in.

MSI's GeForce 9600 Zilent is equipped with a Zalman cooler (the Z stands for Zalman).

This gaming mouse is the MSI version of a "6D" input device. The little round stick on the top can be moved around like a joystick.

The MSI X48C Platinum motherboard offers support for both DDR2 and DDR3. This little adapter card has to be installed in the unused memory slots to select the proper memory type. Note how the components are arranged to spell out "MSI DDR III". The board will retail around $300 and offer two PCI-E x16, 2x x1 and 3x PCI slots.

That switch card is like the old Crossfire cards on the mobo. Wonder how long it will be before it is all done on board automatically, suprises me, it is not like that anyway.

I remember my first build had a crossfire card.

I opened up my board and was like "wtf? RAM for PCI?"

So that card has to be plugged into a ddr3 slot when ddr2 is used and a ddr2 slot when ddr3 is used. how many slots does this board have, 6?
