BIOSTAR Launches TPower X58

BIOSTAR Microtech Int'l Corp., a professional manufacturer of motherboards has unveiled a top of the line model for next generation Intel platform-TPower X58, a superior extreme performance and best power efficiency desktop product.

BIOSTAR TPower X58 based on Intel X58 chipset, which supports Intel latest core i7 series processor family. Intel core i7 series processor supports Quad-Core and Hyper threading technology. Its performance is better performance than prior product family.
The other technical benefit of this model is the latest Intel QPI (Intel QuickPath Interconnect) Technology. A big advantage is that it is point-to-point archtecture. There is no single bus that all the processors must use and contend with each other to reach memory and I/O. It also improves scalability, eliminating the competition between processors for bus bandwidth. BIOSTAR TPower X58 provides record setting 6.4GT/s QPI support and offers flexible memory support options including up to 1600MHz native DDR3-1866MHz memory support with TPower X58.

TPower X58 design is based on previous TPower Series Tech top features like 100% XDC (extreme durable capacitor), Space-Pipe Thermal Design…etc. Furthermore, BIOSTAR TPower X58 adds in 12 Phase power design and Green Power Utility function. 12-Phase Power Design will provide highly efficient power control to generate less heat than traditional solutions. This design helps to extend component's lifecycle and system stability when CPU is under heavy loading or in overclocking mode.

BIOSTAR Green Power Utility is another new function for BIOSTAR TPower X58, it will progress energy efficiency by disabling extra phases while CPU on light loading. You can easily to see all CPU power information and how much power you are saving via an uncomplicated utility on your operation system. Both technologies will balance power saving and overclocking abilities.

The TPower X58 is further equipped to support ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA SLI Technology with triple PCI-E 2.0 (x16, x16, x4) interfaces, delivering ultimate transfer bandwidth for extreme gaming performance. The overall specification of BIOSTAR TPower X58 is best cost / performance of choice for Gamers and overclockers. For more information, please refer to the product page.

They are awesome if you know what you are doing. Their TSeries and TPower uses high quality Japanese Solid caps which will prolong the boards life and OCing.

I though DDR3 1333 was max native and DDR3 1600 was OC,.....?

Anyway nice board. Would like to see MSRP and going street price.

I'd also like to know what Motherboards the OEMs like Dell, HP and Gateway are putting in their systems. The entry level Dell XPS i7 920 based system goes for about ~$949.99. Not that I want it because I already recieved my i7 920 retail box and ASUS P6T Deluxe.

To me they have really stepped up to the plate(baseball slang term) in the past few years......I would of used to of classed them with ECS, but now I am starting to class them higher up.

FINALLY, a motherboard manufacturer that understands its market. Biostar has included 3 x16 PCI-E slots like every other i7 board, but instead of squeezing the slots next to each other, they've positioned them in a way that dual-slot GPUs will be properly ventilated. Sure, the bottom (white) slot might be effectively unusable, but the majority of people will never have more than 2 graphics cards in their system.

About the only thing I can fault this board on is the inclusion and location of the floppy port. It's got an excellent layout, 12-phase power, a cooling system that looks functional as opposed to "blingy"... if it performs as well as previous Biostar boards, these should sell very well. I'll definitely consider picking one up for Christmas.
