3dfx SFFT 1.5 Driver Released

3dfx Zone has released an updated driver package for 3dfx accelerators, version 6.17.0065.0001 (SFFT 1.5), published today. The driver is based on a unified architecture, meaning the same driver would work for a whole range of 3dfx GPUs, Voodoo3 and upwards. This includes Voodoo3 2000, Voodoo3 3000 and Voodoo3 3500 cards, as well as all 3dfx VSA-100 products and so Voodoo4 4500, Voodoo5 5500 and Voodoo5 6000 cards, is on line.

This driver extends support to Windows 2000, Windows XP (both 32bit and 64bit). Apparently there isn't a Windows Vista driver, possibly due to the newer driver model. 3dfx Zone also publishes Set3Tile and Set4Tile Utilities that tweak the texture-handling capabilities of the accelerators. erockerDaMulta, you better post some bench's with that 3dfx 5500!
agreed! :toast:

nice to see the 3DFX loyalist communities keeping the faith . . . that, IMO, says a lot about the VooDoo lineup, and it's effects on the hardware market.

Who woulda thought, almost 8 years after nVidia dropped 3DFX support entirelly, and 2 major OS releases, that driver packages would continue to be released for these cards.

:respect:
Easy Rhinothis is awesome. i cant wait to resurrect my old card!
If I still had a working AGP board, I'd half consider firing mine up as well!

I think what made 3Dfx was 3Dfx was who they wanted to be. They had their own API Glide, and didn't care if they kicked the snot out of all the other competitors. At the time I don't remember anyone buying anything but 3Dfx, and if they did you would just smile. They would say 32bit color, and you would look and see chop chop chop frame rates(hehe).

If they were here today, MS would not have Xbox(IMO) PC Gaming would be a lot more popular than it is now. I bet the 3Dfx guys at N, and over at AMD still smile about what they did to this day.

Just think TNT2 after 3Dfx...o boy....The only card I kinda liked after that was S3, and that was only because you could read the words when you hooked it up to a TV.

Their downfall from what I have read was living the high life to much.

New slots will only do 1.5v in AGP and not the 3.3v needed. SOOOO you have to do this little mod along with cutting out the center of an AGP slot. I have a 1.4 P with a AGP slot ready to go!!!!!

:) BIG GRIN

I thought I read somewhere that, some of the 3DFX crew went to ATI,, & that's about the time ATI started to give Nvidia a fight. if thats true then the ATI cards today have a little 3DFX in them.
