3DMark06 coming soon!

Futuremark has a flash teaser of the new 3DMark. And the end of that trailer reads "coming soon". The images shown in that fairly short trailer are just beautiful and look quite complex. I would not be surprised if we get the new 3DMark in a month or so.

@bikr692002

I think there is a small misunderstanding :)
you are talking about the Mobile edition of 3DMark, this one is the "big brother" for PC.

cheers

Well I hope my 7800 GT, which is coming next week, will be able to handle that somewhat fluid...I don't want to buy another 7800 GT so fast...

Looks very HDR-Oriented. Meh.

Usually by the time a new 3dmark comes out, the graphics of games have reached the level of the prior version. I dont know any games that look as good as the demos in 3dmark05.

Well true, but you have to realize that games are made for the masses...so every game needs to run on as much hardware as possible. And there is just so much "graphics" one can turn down and keep the game looking good enough...noone wants need for speed monst wanted with no textures at all, and no lighting effects...but that way it may run on a Geforce 3 or so...*G*. Its like the one time, when someone managed to get doom 3 running on real old hardware...

I think there are certain games that come damn close to 3DMark 05.. (FEAR, Doom 3, Q4,...even HL2 with HDR or FarCry...) but none would be able to be as detailed as the "Nature" benchmark...as sweet as it would be...

cheers

Can't wait! It's going to look awesome and it's not going to work on my PC probably. They'll probably require PS3 or sumthin... Sigh.

I was looking at their press releases and they go all the way back to 1998 when 3dMark99 was released. :laugh: To think I was only in 2nd grade then.
