CES 2009: Sennheiser

We got to take a look at Sennheisers newest offering: the HD800. This unit is their new flagship part and even though I am no audiophile: they sound amazing. The materials have been kept as light as possible, while the vibration of the unit has been nearly eliminated, giving you the best possible sound quality. The ear drums are not completely sealed, but give you an amazing soundstage.

You will also find their new portable series, which is intended for the audiophile music lover on the go. The HD218 gives you great sound quality with a normal, but powerful bass, while the HD228 adds further bass. The high end HD238 goes a step further, giving you even more "umpf" for your money.

Holy shit. The new holy grail of the audiophile community. But heck, I bet I won't notice the difference between them and my HD600's. I never do.

It would be nice to demo them beside the 701's and 8800s, maybe the Grados as well... i wounder how well they compare.

More bass than the 220's? They should change their motto to "Sennheiser, deafening the new generation!" Plugged into my Sansa they rock hard, and you can feel your eardrums flex when I plugg them into my Harmon Kardon surround reciever.

I would of liked them more if they were closed headphones. Although i've never liked any this company has made.

i got the HD600's myself and after DJ'ing since 1996 i cant tell the difference but that may have something to do with the 150K RMS rig i played on at new year 2000 ;)

When amped properly the HD600s are in a completely different league than the HD595s. The HD800 is a really nice set of "statement" headphones and represents the best of the best, right from materials to the technology used.
