Shuttle Unveils Liquid-Cooled SDXi Carbon SFF PC

Shuttle Inc., the leading designer and manufacturer of small form factor (SFF) computers and accessories, today announced the availability of the new custom liquid-cooled SDXi Carbon extreme gaming solution showcased earlier this month at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show.

As an extreme performance system for gamers, enthusiasts, and even professionals working with graphic design, animation, or CAD, the Shuttle SDXi Carbon features a powerful quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 processor, dual-slot NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card, and high-speed DDR2 memory (up to 16GB) to deliver the best possible experience for today's most demanding applications. Then to ensure maximum performance and stability at all times, SDXi Carbon features the world's first Liquid I.C.E. technology that is designed to deliver the most efficient cooling solution in an extreme small form factor system. As a finishing touch, the SDXi Carbon is custom wrapped and painted in a premium automotive level finish, making the exterior of the system as unique as the interior.
The Shuttle SDXi Carbon is available now as a pre-configured complete solution starting at $2,599 MSRP (U.S.). Shuttle Liquid I.C.E. will be available soon as an accessory for select models of the Shuttle H7 series (price to be determined at release). For more information, please visit this page.

They fit a GTX 280 AND a liquid cooling on that case? Mighty impressive, I'd like to see the inside. Seems it's only the prosessor that is water as they say dual-slot=air for 280.

edit: thanks for the side picture btarunr, shows a bit of the inside and what I was expecting.

well, their mATX PC sure beats my mATX PC.

i thought a 3.5GHz quad core with a single 8800GTX was tough, let alone two GTX 280s with watercooling.

That's nutty in a good way. I wouldn't ever get one but if I went to LAN parties, I'd certainly consider it.

My m8 used to swear by Shuttle setups and he used to cram huge GFX cards into those small cases lol :rockout:

It's a single GTX 280. PSU that could handle two GTX 280 would take all the space in the case :) I really don't get how they managed to get even one working. Although it has no PCI-E power plugs in the picture, so maybe it isn't?

POWER
  • 300W PSU
  • Dimension: 7.5(W) X 3.2(H) X 1.6(D) inch (Max)
  • 80 Plus® Certified
Surely it can't work with that, no way? GTX 280 takes up to 236W, doesn't leave much to rest of the system :p

btarunr...the Shuttle SDXi Carbon features a powerful quad-core Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 processor, dual-slot NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 graphics card...

Something fishy here. There is no QX9770 option or GTX 280. Top specs selectable are QX9650 & GTX 285. Well that's not so far off, but the news make it seem like you get QX9770 and GTX 280 in that case for $2600.

What you really get with the $2600 is E8400 and 9800GT :) If you up the options to QX9650 and GTX 285 the end total is $3,924.99US.

You are right and that's because it is a 9800GT, see above.

Keyword: starting (at)

This is the usual bull with manufacturers. I recall Dell coming up with an "AMD Dragon" system starting at $1400, which made me initially feel "wow! dragon for $1400 and branded!". Then it turned out the "starting point" system comes with Athlon X2 5600+ and a HD 4850, which doesn't quite makes it a "Dragon" system, maybe just a Lizzard.

Hehe, lizard :) Not quite a fire breathing quadfire.

That $2600 just seemed expensive enough for me, that made me think that it could have all the stuff mentioned. Sure it small and special, so little extra is bound to happen. At least they said up to 16GB of memory, when stock is just 2GB. Max option how ever was 8GB when you try to buy one :)

That 236w measurement would be total system load though. VRZone got a QX9650 and GTX280 right up to 292w peak load. Poor little 300w PSU
