Mobility Radeon HD 4570 Sneaks In

Close to ten days before ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 4000 series rolls out at the upcoming CeBIT event, one of its eggs seems to have hatched a little early. Dell's Indian website has already started listing it in the specifications of the Studio 15 notebook. Enter Mobility Radeon HD 4570. This mGPU is derived from the 55 nm RV710 graphics processor, and intends to be a handy performance boost over integrated graphics. It features 80 stream processors, 8 texture memory units, and 4 raster operations units. It connects to GDDR3, DDR2 memory using its 64-bit wide memory bus. The card used in Dell's Studio 15 sports 256 MB of memory. The mGPU is expected to outperform competing NVIDIA G110M by 20~30%, while keeping its TDP rating at a mere 13 W. Once formally announced, one could expect to hear more about this mGPU.

wow a 20-30% boost over the nvidia is impressive. And at 13W you can't go wrong. that might be a pretty sweet lappy.

64bit bus+ddr2=fail for most if not all 3d apps/games, but still destroys any intel offering

I noticed Dell was offering these on their Studio range of laptops a few days ago; considering an ATI 3200 is better than an 8400 GS (which is what Dell is still putting on its cheaper gaming laptops), this 4570 should be fast enough for most low priced gaming laptops.

Its not a rebrand. No previous gen mobile graphics from ATI has 80 shaders.

3600s have 120
3400s have 40

I just ordered a Dell Studio 1537 T6400 with an Intel 4500 MHD graphics card.

For $100 more I could upgrade to an ATI mobility 4570 .

Is it worth it? How much faster? 10%????

When the lady from Dell called, she said she could upgrade but her info said I could only upgrade to a T3850. What the heck is going on? Is that the same as the 4570?

I would change my order pretty quickly if I were you.

4500MHD = 900 Marks in 3d06
HD 4570 = 3000 Marks in 3d06

So its at least 2-3 (200-300%) faster than the GMA 4500MHD.

As for the T3850, that sounds like an Intel processor not a GPU. The HD 4570 is only available on the Dell Studio 1555 afaik.
