ASUS Readies New Line of Graphics Cards

Today ASUS is all over the place, promoting all kinds of products. Now is the time for the Formula video cards line-up, inspired by Formula 1 race cars. ASUS is already showcasing a few products from the line-up at CeBIT 2009 (where else if not there). The part that brings the cards' name is actually the heatsink. From above it resembles the shape of a F1 car. Despite that, the heatsink is nothing so revolutionary. It is combination of anti-oxidizing aluminum fins, five copper heat-pipes and a dust-proof fan. The whole cooling occupies two PCI slots. ASUS forgot to mention if the cards will be supercharged, sorry I mean overclocked. Pricing and availability information is also missing, neither we know if the cards will be with NVIDIA or ATI GPUs.

The source says it's dust-proof, to me it looks like an ordinary fan but who knows? Maybe it has something to do with the bearing of the fan.

ASUS is starting to feel like the luxury maker of PC components. Their latest releases all look reallllllly nice and we all know their quality is really good. Their motherboards are some of the best for looks and quality. Really cool designs lately.

looks like an ATI 4870 card, red PCB and location of dual 6 pin PCI-e plugs give that away.

Is is really a NEW line of cards if its just the same OLD cards with a new cooler and a few clocks fiddled?

(It IS a rather stylish cooler mind you)

Bearing in mind that any other roughly equivalent card can usually be clock fiddled to the same settings, post sale...

I cant wait for the real "NEW LINE OF CARDS" to start making media leaks....

I heard a story a year or so ago of a new "SuperCar" that had no windscreen wipers as the windscreen had been treated with a nano-treatment-substance-stuff that had a surface tension that was drastically beyond anything that can occur in nature, resulting in a surface that no naturally occurring substance could adhere to, and any dirt or mud or whatever would simply blow away when the car started moving.

Perhaps ASUS have nanotech fans now?

If this substance is real it would probably do the trick :P

Dust buildup is hardly an issue on my fans. When there's too much on my heatsinks for dissipation its an issue.

that card looks like the exact same 3-pipe hsf as my sapphire hd4870 has, as well as other brands, with just a different plastic cover.

Article claims 5 heat pipes... :\ - Ohwell - Suppose its just like nVidia's 8800, that is also a 9800, .. that is also a 250.

Just need a new reason to resell an old product...

Unless motherboards change, so that gfx cards can change, most of you are using your pc's on a traditional angle, meaning, you cant see the top of the card because its facing down.
This looks good, and it IS possible to have something dust proof, fog proof, static proof, but like all good things, it doesnt last forever.
