The AMD Athlon 800 was a desktop processor with 1 core, launched in December 1999, at an MSRP of $799. It is part of the Athlon Model 2 lineup, using the Pluto architecture with Slot A. Athlon 800 has 512 KB of L2 cache and operates at 800 MHz. AMD is building the Athlon 800 on a 180 nm production process using 22 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Athlon 800, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 43 W, the Athlon 800 consumes typical power levels for a modern PC. The highest officially supported memory speed is 100 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. Actual memory technology support depends on the chosen motherboard, because the memory controller is located on the motherboard (not in the processor). For communication with other components in the computer, Athlon 800 uses a PCI-Express N/A connection. This processor does not have integrated graphics, you will need a separate graphics card. A lot of games will not work on this processor, because they require the SSE instruction set, which is not supported.
