The Intel Pentium III Xeon 550 1MB was a server/workstation processor with 1 core, launched in August 1999, at an MSRP of $1980. It is part of the Pentium III Xeon lineup, using the Tanner architecture with Slot 2. To further increase overall system performance, up to four Pentium III Xeon 550 1MB CPUs can link up in a multi-processor (SMP) configuration. Pentium III Xeon 550 1MB has 1 MB of L2 cache and operates at 550 MHz. Intel is building the Pentium III Xeon 550 1MB on a unknown production process using 10 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Pentium III Xeon 550 1MB, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 35 W, the Pentium III Xeon 550 1MB consumes only little energy. The highest officially supported memory speed is 100 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. This processor lacks integrated graphics, you might need a graphics card.
