The VIA StarFive JH-7110 SoC is a mobile processor with 5 cores, launched in August 2022. It is part of the Core IP lineup, using the 7-Series architecture with mBGA 625. StarFive JH-7110 SoC has 2 MB of L2 cache and operates at 1250 MHz by default, but can boost up to 1500 MHz, depending on the workload. VIA is making the StarFive JH-7110 SoC on a 14 nm production node, the transistor count is unknown. The silicon die of the chip is not fabricated at VIA, but at the foundry of TSMC. The multiplier is locked on StarFive JH-7110 SoC, which limits its overclocking potential.
With a TDP of 5 W, the StarFive JH-7110 SoC consumes extremely little energy. VIA's processor supports DDR3 and DDR4 memory with a single-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 2800 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. Actual memory technology support depends on the chosen motherboard, the processor itself supports multiple memory types, but most motherboards have only one kind of slot. For communication with other components in the computer, StarFive JH-7110 SoC uses a PCI-Express Gen 2 connection.
A lot of games will not work on this processor, because they require the SSE instruction set, which is not supported.
