The AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ was a desktop processor with 2 cores, launched in May 2005, at an MSRP of $581. It is part of the Athlon 64 X2 lineup, using the Toledo architecture with Socket 939. Athlon 64 X2 4800+ has 1 MB of L2 cache per core and operates at 2.4 GHz. AMD is building the Athlon 64 X2 4800+ on a 90 nm production process using 233 million transistors. The multiplier is locked on Athlon 64 X2 4800+, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 110 W, the Athlon 64 X2 4800+ consumes a lot of power, so good cooling is definitely needed. AMD's processor supports DDR1 memory with a dual-channel interface.
