Models look more polished in their movement and the water is more detailed but otherwise this is pure BF3. Oh yeah the scripted map changes... They should really release this as an expansion for half the price they are putting now.

I guess that's probs a good thing/wise move.

You are doing fine Gully. Then we don't have to deal with all the other crap on the webpage.

Yeah while "walls of text" are never ideal in a forum I am more likely to actually read it if it's pasted here.

PS. Gully I love that you repost all the Battlelog, Battlefield Blog, BF4Central and Battlefieldo items, but wouldn't it be better to just post the link instead to save us from the wall-of-text facerape :p

I do it for the people that are reading at work, where they might not have access to gaming sites. (But tech sites are allowed).

I got away from using TPU's spoiler functionality for the BF3 thread, I can start doing that again.

BF4central - Battlefield 4 Obliteration gameplay video

Unedited, direct-feed gameplay video showing the new mode Obliteration on Paracel Storm.

[yt]?v=Ryj5K49T2UI[/yt]

We got some more Battlefield 4 gameplay, and unlike last time, it’s full, unedited in 1080p resolution. No commentary or any other nonsense, just the raw gameplay. And it’s safe to say, Battlefield 4 is looking awesome at this point. The new map, Paracel Storm, offers a ton of variety and we get to see the new dynamic weather feature as well — the match starts out in sunny conditions, and later changes when a storm hits the islands.
Unlike yesterday’s gameplay, this time we get to see the brand new Obliteration game mode in action. In Obliteration, each team has to protect certain objectives, while a bomb randomly spawns on the map. It’s then up to the players to get the bomb, take it to the enemy objective, and destroy it.
We get to see some of the new weapons featured in BF4 as well, including the SRAW rocket launcher, the Z-11 scout helicopter, the M82 .50 cal sniper rifle, and the Type 95 assault rifle, the ACW-R carbine, and more. The video also shows some new Ribbons that can be earned in a match, including the scout helicopter ribbon and the spotting ribbon.

For objective minded players, this may replace CTF as the game mode of choice

New Battlefield blog post: Frantic and explosive: Battlefield 4 Obliteration mode overivew

[DICE] H Brun | 08.23.13

DICE has always wanted to widen the available experiences to players of Battlefield. Never has the game modes on offer been so diverse than with Battlefield 4. If you’ve followed our live stream from gamescom, you know already that one of our all-new game modes is the explosive Obliteration, and we wanted to let you know more about this great addition to the game.

Obliterate the opposition
Obliteration is one of the most frantic and high-paced modes available in Battlefield 4. Two teams face off on medium-sized battlegrounds where one bomb spawns in a random central location. The mission: To pick up the bomb and arm it at one of the enemy’s three military installations and blow it up. When the bomb has detonated, a new bomb spawns in a random location, and the race is on again! The first team to destroy all three objectives wins.

The single available bomb creates a strong focal point of action, with both teams risking it all to be able to bring the bomb to the enemy base. It’s a game mode all about staying on the offensive and all about being a mobile team player.

The daily BF4 live streams from gamescom will be back with more Obliteration gameplay in the upcoming days. In the meantime, you can check out jackfrags’ video capture from his gamescom session playing Obliteration to get a taste of what’s in store.

[yt]?feature=player_detailpage&v=Ryj5K49T2UI[/yt]

We also have a second all-new game mode in Battlefield 4 called Defuse – where players don’t have any respawns at all for an even tighter and quicker infantry-only game mode. More on Defuse later.

So there you have it. From infantry-only tight mode Defused to frantic mobile warfare in Obliteration and the Battlefield classic Conquest on vast open maps. No matter your style of pay or preference, you will find the mode in Battlefield 4. Let us know what you think in the poll below!

Battlefield 4 releases October 29 with seven game modes: Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Rush, Domination, Conquest, Defuse, and Obliteration. All seven game modes will be playable across the 10 multiplayer maps launched with the game. You can pre-order Battlefield 4 to get the China Rising expansion pack at no additional cost.

Which Battlefield 4 game mode do you think you'll play the most?
  • (NEW) Obliteration
  • (NEW) Defuse
  • Conquest
  • Team Deathmatch
  • Squad Deathmatch
  • Domination
  • Rush

Love the SRAW already :)

The wall of text I'd so that people with work filters can read. All those sites are categorized under gaming.

Agreed jets should have bombs but only if they are two seaters and controlled by the gunner I think. Jets are damn powerful as it is in the right hands. Might sound like I'm cryin a little but they have to maintain balance ffs...

I didn't think about the site filters many companies use when I typed that, but yeah the spoiler tag makes everybody happy :)

For objective minded players, this may replace CTF as the game mode of choice

I actually hope they're going to keep CTF as gamemode. I don't expect them to replace Rush with Obliteration either, so we just have to wait and see.
I am wondering if they are going to do something to prevent segmentation, since with 11 gamemodes and 21 maps the playerbase becomes very segmented. For instance you have a hard time now to find a Tank Superiority server or even a server running Aftermath maps.
At least they should have sticked to 1 new gamemode per DLC and perhaps extend the range of the new gamemode by applying it to (some) existing maps too.
Domination is already confirmed, which probably is just a rename of Conquest Domination.
Elimination is also confirmed, which is probably going to be a Last Man Standing type of gamemode.
If I had to pick gamemodes for BF4 it would be:
- Conquest
- Rush
- Tank Superiority
- Air Superiority
- Capture the Flag
- TDM
Plus those 3 confirmed mode (Obliteration, Elimination and Domination) you would be fine when it comes to the amount of modes imo.

Anyone know if you can pick up thrown grenades? Like pick up an enemy nade and throw it back?

Seems odd that I could do it back in with COD4 or WaW but yet can not do it in BF3 and just have to hope to run for it.

Anyone know if you can pick up thrown grenades? Like pick up an enemy nade and throw it back?

Seems odd that I could do it back in with COD4 or WaW but yet can not do it in BF3 and just have to hope to run for it.

Yeah that would be cool, and make the radius a little larger for the grenade launchers. It is crazy you hit 3 ft from a guy and it doesn't
do much if anything. I think Metro ruined it for the M320 because everybody exploited it and they nerfed the fuck out of it after that.

I guess you didn't read DICE's post about Obliteration.

Guess not, though I hardly ever miss anything :p

Battlefield 4 releases October 29 with seven game modes: Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Rush, Domination, Conquest, Defuse, and Obliteration. All seven game modes will be playable across the 10 multiplayer maps launched with the game.

That means they're sacking Squad Rush.
Domination is the Conquest Domination replacement?
Defuse, another bomb related gamemode, you would expect with Rush and Obliteration that there are enough of those already?
I wonder what happened to Elimination then, or maybe it is just like the Drone Strike Expansion. You hear about it first and get teasers but then it turns out to be fake or cancelled.
