Models look more polished in their movement and the water is more detailed but otherwise this is pure BF3. Oh yeah the scripted map changes... They should really release this as an expansion for half the price they are putting now.

Caleb if you have watched all of what Gully posts up you have to be know enough to see this is not BF3 all over again.
The destructibility alone makes it a game changer, then add in Commander and the way you can interact with the water now,
it is going to be a lot different then BF3 even more so then BFBC2 vs BF3. I for one think it is going to be a Great game.
How many hours do you have logged on BF3 if you don't mind me asking ?

I read somewhere that they have not implemented Battlerecorder, they are just going to take advantage of the native support for this in both next-gen systems. Spectate mode allows utilizing existing PC recordering systems to record and referee matches in progress.

Can you drop bombs in the jets or are we stuck with the lame WW2 rockets again?

I was watching some Gamescom video on twitch.tv yesterday and a guy was flying a Jet, over parasel and it kept switching momentarily to a view of the underside of the jet with a crosshair pointing towards the ground. made me think it might be a bombers view.
Ont the otherhand when asked directly, Lars Gustovsson said adding a gunner on the jets takes as much rescoucees as adding another jet to a level, so that needed consideration which would be more desirable. I'll try to relocate that video.

what does everyone think of the changes to the Defib? I think its going to turn out well.
- changes being a quick revive (like bf3) but the revived player only gets 20% health, and charge up (currently 4 seconds) for 100% health.
but the biggest change is a limited number of revives (3) using charge packs.
I think if they balance this right it will bring a lot more skill back into the medic class.

I actually hope they're going to keep CTF as gamemode. I don't expect them to replace Rush with Obliteration either, so we just have to wait and see.
I am wondering if they are going to do something to prevent segmentation, since with 11 gamemodes and 21 maps the playerbase becomes very segmented. For instance you have a hard time now to find a Tank Superiority server or even a server running Aftermath maps.
At least they should have sticked to 1 new gamemode per DLC and perhaps extend the range of the new gamemode by applying it to (some) existing maps too.
Domination is already confirmed, which probably is just a rename of Conquest Domination.
Elimination is also confirmed, which is probably going to be a Last Man Standing type of gamemode.
If I had to pick gamemodes for BF4 it would be:
- Conquest
- Rush
- Tank Superiority
- Air Superiority
- Capture the Flag
- TDM
Plus those 3 confirmed mode (Obliteration, Elimination and Domination) you would be fine when it comes to the amount of modes imo.

To me this is just retarded. It seems DICE is more interested in free advertising then anything else.

While the spectator mode is nice, just making that one step more to Battlerecorder is so small that it lacks any actual reasoning as to why they're not doing it. The only reason I can come to is that DICE/EA does not care about the hacking problem in BF3 at all. They say spectator is their answer, but they've gone all that way for spectator and yet the very minimal jump to Battlerecorder they won't do? As one friend I was talking to last night pointed out, DICE/EA are more interested in free advertising then actually solving a problem.

What they're doing on the console is not Battlerecorder, just a way to record gameplay, which is not just what Battlereorder is.

Just wanted to make sure we weren't just getting trolled by some one who doesn't even play the game. I just don't understand if you are so disappointed with the games why play them ? I loved COD when they did things right, but I don't play them at all now and don't spend anytime worrying about the franchise anymore either. If it isn't to my liking then I'm done basically. If you are just to be then really maybe save that for a significant other. I think most of us stay on this thread because we are really stoked about the game. You are bringing us down man

The "levolution" is all scripted crap. Commander mode is a nice addition but should have been in 3 to begin with. And what, new perks that encourage camping and make an unbalanced team even more powerful?

Battle recorder is waaaaay different that just recording in spectator mode. Anyone who ever played with recorder in BF2 knows this . And it will be a favourite to new BF fans as well. Don't dissapoint DICE!!!!

Kurgan and Ufgy did an excellent job with out it. I'm not sweating it. If they don't just PM them and see how they did it so flawlessly. Ufgy has some good footage on Youtube of TPU'ers.

I don't think he's talking about taking video photage, he's talking about using it to combat against hackers.

Adding commander and scripted maps is expensive ? I think you forgot whats the difference between spending money and giving it away. How is adding scripted maps to an existing engine expensive ? BF3 shipped 15 million copies ~900 million USD (WOW really!)

I don't know what games you bought but I remember that you used to pay 20e-30e for a game and tons of developers added content to it for free. Now because of no SDK you need to pay 100e+ each two years for pretty much the same thing with a few improvements. I get it its all about $$ but they killed an amazing source of game modders and potential developers for the sake of squezzing as much money as they can.

The hurt should be put on the one reviving not the one being revived.
I can't stand those medics who revive in the line of fire just for their 100/110 points or those cases where you wipe out a squad and then a medic runs by and puts them ALL back into the fight in mere seconds.
The best solution is adding a cast time to it, like when arming/disarming M-COMs. Let's say it takes 2 seconds to revive someone. The medic should revive 'responsible', he is the one to blame not the one being revived. So many times I've been revived while my killer was still standing next to me, so he could get another free kill.

@Scott: Regardless of how many hrs someone has clocked into BF3 (870hrs in my case), he is allowed to post criticism. And I definitely won't be playing the "my stats are better so your point is invalid" card. We just want the game we like to be better. There is so much potential in the BF serie, but time after time we see DICE make a bad decision or just being careless for major bugs/glitches (M26 Dart for instance). There still plenty of bugs in the game currently (like random server disconnects and random bad luck deaths) as well. Personally I'm most excited about the 5 man squads and the gadget changes, and I sincerely hope that those gadget changes are sufficient to rebalance the classes.

@Gully: Good to know that CTF will be back. You don't know much about Defuse as well? No word on Tank & Air Superiority either? Tank Superiority was one of the gamemodes that I was most excited about, but boy was that a failure... 2 MBT's and 6 Destroyers per team (meaning there is no point to run it on a 32+ player server) and no server options to adjust vehicle setup combined with the horid SOFLAM implementation made it major let down :shadedshu

Yeah TS vehicle numbers was a total fail. I can't see why they thought everyone shouldn't get a tank if they want one. Hell, they shoulda kept that dynamic for Air Superiority too; it's only fair. So what if that means some players spawn in the air and fall to their deaths!?

It is not all scripted lol. Go read up on the multiple posts Gullyfoyle has posted on Levolution. A lot of it is user controlled, except for say weather, that's dynamic.

It's really not.. the building that everyone has seen, yes you blow certain pillars to make it go.. but when it goes the same thing happens every time. That's the definition of scripted. The boat on the island map, scripted. It will be nice if they deliver bad company 2 level of building destruction. But again that's another thing that should have been in 3.

BF4 is going to be a great game, but it really could be a great expansion for an already good game. But that isn't the most profitable route for them to take so can't really fault them for wanting to make money.

Total bull crap! Spectator mode is not anything like BAttlerecorder at all. Recorder gives a player full camera movement , pause fast forward and all the good stuff. Anyone who remembers it from bf2 will know What I'm talking about. They said it would be back in BF4, so WTF???
