Repasted my R9 290X with liquid ultra the card now runs 10C° cooler (the cooler mountings are bad so I fixed those too).

I used icd24 and got an increase in temps. Re did it with AS5 and back to normal. Mabey 1-2 c lower but that paste needs curing heat cool cycles so I'm happy using it. At least the transistors are not so close to the die like the 7 series was.

na don't think so, its the software either glitch orr yes its in the bios code. But did you use the msi app and click oc mode? Sure gets a BIG boost in Numbers compaired to clocking the shit out of the card.

nah, i havent used that app, doesnt really make much sense to use it when you have a better option like AB or Trixx

This is what I get with dual 290Xs at 1100/1500, 16GBs of 1866MHz RAM and a 4770K at 4.7GHz:

There must be something wrong with my cards if that's the score you get with 290s (non X) at stock, and I can tell you my cards are not throttling, that's why I ask the question, I'm using drivers 14.2, what do you guys think I'm doing wrong, I'm genuinely concerned after seeing how much my Radeon system is underperforming.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No, I'll try that right now, will revert to that release

EDIT: Just used driver cleaner to uninstall the previous driver, installed the 13.12 driver and also didi a clean installation for 3DMark (aparently you need to download a 960MBs patch to update the thing) and got this result at stock clocks:

That's still 3000 marks short, don't know what else to do, I uninstalled MSI's AB and Asus' GPUTweak, the CPU was running at 4.5GHz (my 24/7 OC setting) and still my system is really slow compared to that other system.

Now I'm really concerned, what do you guys think I'm doing wrong? I use Win 8.1 Pro 64bit, an MSI Z87 GD65 board, and a 1000W PSU, dunno what's driving my score so low.

Please let me know what you guys think.

No worries at all. And there's good that came of it with these scores posted, since it gives all of us something base our scores on.

When I get a second card, I know I'll be comparing too

That happens to me on my phone too (do you use android?) Sometimes I touch the thanks button on my screen and it looks like it registered as a click, only to find later that actually it never registered

Once again, thanks for clearing that horrible mess up, you're right, at least something good came out of it like scores to compare, also, I found that my scores are much better when using the 13.12 drivers as opposed to the 14.2 drivers, weird isn't it?

No not weird, the betas are junk. I use beta only to test and these are the worse betas in a long time. 13.12 are by far the better. I use mark11,because it seems more demanding and I base my clocks off it.
If I can run mark 11 then I know I can push further on mark 13., weird but its what I've found. Kinda like valley vs heaven.. Valley is more demanding so I tune to it

Things will change by the end of the week. I've got a 1300 watt evga psu on the way and that's going to fix all my issues the poor old 850 gave my system. She just couldn't handle that added draw and was 5-6 yrs old so go figure. I'll report some better numbers with clean stable power by Friday if shipping works out in my favor. Its only 700 miles away.

@W1zzard I'm not the only one having issues with the tpu app or browser. Had issues on the s3 and then the BlackBerry V10 loaner phone and the new lg g2 with the 4.2.2 KitKat is Still buggy as the last few posts above me have stated.

Looks like I need to do some testing with 13.12 vs 14.2 to see what's what with my setup.

@fullinfusion and @Everyone does 3DMark11 or 13 draw more wattage for you? 13 pulls down a bit more for me, so I was just curious.

I can't remember but if memory serves me right mark 11 had a heavy draw over mark13 but valley is the PIG! That's the one that in a sense that sucked what life my little 850 had. At 1054 watts off and on during the test its the heavy hitter out of the 3 benches I play with. I just thought wtf? I could run a decent clock but a week after going over 1kw weird shit happened.
At least the new PSU has the iron balls to run and I like its able to work with hasswell CPUs and also has twin CPU power lines so I can supply the CPU the juice she requires when I want a 5+ GHz speed.

@manofthem use the 13.12 driver. Its rock solid and who cares about mantle ATM unless you.like running that steam bench which is bugged to beat hell. I can even run tomb raider and have everything set to the max and I don't get that tress hair flicker during the bench even with v-sync off.

I did a clean w7 is install, loaded up all my crap and did all the updates then made a system image just so I can play with other drivers and if the worst happens then in 7-8 min I've done a secure erase of the ssd and the image installed like nothing has happened

Oh and DDU program? Stay away from it. It's fuged up and just causes problems even in safe mode. AMD have a NEW AMD uninstaller that works really well and I believe it is now supports W8 -8.1
