OFFICIAL Elite: Dangerous

AWWWW YEAHHHH.

The biggest thing I dont like now that i hope hey cut out is allowing solo play CR to carry over to the online side of the game. I think thats a bit ridiculous.

As someone who has only played Solo, I agree. The profiles should be completely separate.

We can see the outside of our ships in beta now. This is the Fer de Lance. To me, it's like a Viper on steroids. Four medium hardpoints and one huge hardpoint. :)

I actually prefer using an Xbox 360 controller. I bind the targeting to the D-Pad. The game is really bare-bones. Factions really don't matter at this point, but there are some player run "groups". I'm in the East India Trading Company and while there's nothing in the game to make any groups like this "official" we have made it into the GalNet news posts a few times. You can definitely hold down a system. We managed to run a blockade for a week, crippling the ability for the Feds to construct a capitol ship. While it did eventually get built (mostly due to community goals being achieved through solo mode) we did manage to keep the cap ship tied up in it's dock for a week, which has helped elsewhere.

**I'm streaming on Steam right now: http://steamcommunity.com/broadcast/watch/76561197993429702/

I hope one day steam will support streaming to twitch. Can't watch steam on mobile.

Just a small tip, if you manage to get into the top 70% of federal commanders at Lugh you make 5m when the goal is over. 40% is 10m, 15% is 12.5m, and the top 5% get 17.5m. If you shoot anyone you make an extra 70k.
Also, this is only tier 7, we are about to hit tier 8, and we have two weeks and 18 hours to hit tier 9.

I'm interested in this. Is there a trial?

Nope but check out Youtube. Try out Evochron Mercenary if you want a similar flight model (except for yaw rates, scale and physics complexity)...it has a 2 hour trial iirc.

Honestly I found evochron's flight model nothing like E;Ds, at least with flight assist on.

I feel they are similar enough..not a mirror image, but pretty damn similar, though nothing at all with FA OFF, EvoMerc is faster on the controls, but they both felt similar to me beyond Elite being a little slower to respond and maneuver. Elite feels smoother... EvoMerc shows its age and indie limitations in this respect though. I found that being good at one, relates into being pretty darn good at the other.

In FA OFF, Elite lets your ship move, spin, yaw, roll, etc endlessly like how it would happen in space. EvoMerc is like Star Citizen, you keep going one direction, but your directional thrusters don't let you spin at any rate...you just have a trajectory. This makes EvoMerc and SC easier to handle in unassisted mode imho. Elite can be quite the handful when you have to handle all 6 degrees and you must have a reaction for every action to prevent spinning out of control. Fun none-the-less and a challenge! :D

To me Elite feels like a better polished but similar FA-ON mechanics that EvoMerc has had for years now. Maybe that's just me though. :toast:

What kind of pre reqs surround buying the FDL ?

Hey guys I'm really close to pulling the trigger on ED. On a scale of 1 to 10 how well does a mouse and keyboard work or just use an XBox 360 controller? It's either "ED" or "Dying light".. lol I've taken a job in another state.. So, until after June from Sunday night to Friday evening I'll be staying at a hotel. I have parts coming in to build an itx i3, ssd, 8gb ram, r7 260x rig to keep in the hotel. Will the r7 260x play ED well enough on a 27" 1080p monitor?

I really dont know how to answer alot of this but from my experience I play nothing on controller and if I have to I play on a PS controller clone but for ED I specifically went out and bought an xbox controller and i love it alot more then I did the first week i owned it.

I'll more than likely just use the xbox 360 controller. The i3 is a gen 4 processor. I have an i5 2500k setting around, but didn't like any of the itx boards i found. ED has really shaped up into a nice looking game.

Having over 52m in credits. It isn't a faction ship if that is what you mean.

ED works fine on kb/m. You will find that, regardless of control scheme, you always feel like you need more firegroups, but keybindings are massively helpful with that. IMHO (and very much my opinion) ED works perfectly on KB/m, and better than on a joystick. Then again, I am used to twitch FPS. Regardless you can switch, and it does come packaged with controls for both.

No that's not what I meant at all. I knew about the money but it seems certain ships are not available at certain ports and I was just making sure their is no odd limitation associated with it except obviously finding a port that sells it.

Nope, totally open to the masses. Seems to be getting more rare about though with the war in Lugh. Some people are saying that all stations within 50LY of Lugh that used to sell it now don't.

Ok, Federal goals have increased to 6m if you get top 70%. (which is easy) I see myself buying an Asp soon-ish. :D
The CSG mission (Operation Dullham I think) is also crazy rich. 24 cargo will net you over 1.5m. It is a bit complicated though
What happens is you go to the convoy signal near hartsfield market, and once there wait for the convoy. When it gets there one person in the instance (usually a CSG oldie. They are very chatty, nice people) will shoot the type 9's cargo hatch. DO NOT DESTROY OR EVEN TOUCH THE TYPE 9! It'll blow up or destroy the hatch before you get much out of it. Once it's been hit you follow along and pick up the stuff it drops. Some will dupe, and it's illicit cargo. Once you have enough run back over to the federally controlled station and sell your illegal cargo on the black market. Don't get scanned though or you'll get a fine equal to the amount you are carrying. (in other words, a massive fine)

Have fun out there feds, independents, and mercs alike! o7

Just got this game the other day and hot damn its amazing! I honesty cant stop thinking about it lol, I spent most of my shift at work just wanting to go home so i could play some more.

Ya this game can infect your soul if you let it.

I enjoy the hell out of it...though ive been restricted due to school so its regained that allure of being just in my grasp to play....if I had the time. Sigh.

Makes it that much more worth it though.

I am hoping to see more small ships that are sub 1 million credits though. Its taken me embarrassingly long to earn the few million I have.

Enjoy this game, don't fall into a grind trap to earn as much $$ as fast as you can. That's soured many people. My goal is to have a badass big ship someday...but I plan on two cobras...one for combat and bounty duties and one for mining or at least to look like I'm mining... :D

It does.. but it doesn't... it still doesn't compare to the cruelty that can be eve.. Also doesn't compare to the depth, this game is still incredibly shallow.

back in 2003 they didn't have mining ships in EVE so I would fit mining lasers to my Frigate and haul the ore like a dozen systems away until I made enough isk to buy a hauler and kept doing the same thing over and over until I got blown up and lost everything lol
