The main test is to see how many few full price games sell compared to their console counterparts.

I think not necessarily how many, but rather more important is increase in numbers.

L4D2 and Skyrim were in the top ten which is not surprising to me.

Looking at the number of sales in November times the average price and going on what the industry claims that Valve takes 30% of the sale for themselves then Valve took in a gross profit of ~63 million dollars in November. Of course there's overhead and employees to run Steam so net profit would be less.

great to see Rocket League selling so well.

according to developer 8 million copies of Rocket League have been downloaded. it's up there with GTA V

Good to see that "PC Gaming is Dying...." is being contradicted.
I have known on a few colleagues to change from console to PC and have given them advise on PC building.
Now all I have to do is get them off COD and Battlefield so I can get them into CS:GO... well only if I finally get bored and stop playing Fallout 4 for a while.

When I saw the headline and started reading, I was thinking .......ooohhhhh boy am I a part of a dying breed ?

Pc gaming hasent been so strong for many years, as it has been in 2015. A console is just for loosers that dosent appreciate decent grafics and likes to play at 60 frames a second.

i cant see the day im gonna change my pc for a sh@#$% console. well i helped a little buying the witcher 3 this weekend so im one of those 1mil. Watching the post my first thought was the trolling news ..... Dota 2 for console...... yeah right !!

Yeah, Ubi finally created an AC at the quality and play level of 1 and 2...but after so many cookie cutter years of mediocre releases, peaple haven't been buying, despite good reviews.

It IS a good game, I just hope it eventually gets noticed. One factor of note, alot more copies of the game will be sold on or activated on U-play alone, so it's not as bad as it seems.

On a side note, IMO the other gem in the line of mediocre AC releases is Liberation HD. I really felt that was a fantastic game.

Yeah, I liked Liberation but it was undeniably the buggiest AC game ever. Syndicate is on Origin too but I still think the bulk of the PC sales would be via Steam (lots of exposure, was on sale for -40%).

Ubisoft open world games are the turducken of video games. the bar that Patrice Desilets set is now every single one of their games (FarCry 4, The Crew, AC Syndicate, The Division, Watch Dogs) and after playing Mordor it's hard to sit down to play these games. i'm so sick of asshole protagonist, eagle vision and towers.

Heck, Silent Hunter 3/4/5 have towers, and those are submarine sims.

PC gaming is dying? How is that an alarming issue when we have more than 700 million & growing PC gamers worldwide, with at least one dude among us sporting a monster rig that eats hundreds of PS4s & XB1s for it's 4-meal per day diet? It should be "Console gaming is dying at an alarming rate" as game studios that supports it closed down due to "unforseen events" & "lack of audience to support it". So, how is it possible that PC gaming is dying? PC market shares are shrinking though LOL... but is it dead? nope.

Console is heading for self termination. Back when consoles used to be all about easy of use and fun, they were great. These days, everyone but Nintendo are competing who can stuff a more powerful hardware in it and all game developers compete who can create a better looking game, almost ignoring the fun and innovation. And they are all entirely missing the point and why only reason why consoles are somewhat desirable to me are the bloody exclusives. And even those are frankly not enough to justify purchase of an expensive console that has a VERY limited functionality and life span compard to PC. I mean, with some fiddling, I can play over 15 years old games on current PC. Without the need to re-purchase everything all over again. Or I can just do that on GOG and cal it a day if I just can't be bothered and just want to play old games instantly.

Neither PC gaming nor consoles will be dead anytime soon. They both have their place and loyal fan(boy)s. While PC gaming has increased in popularity, the latest consoles (PS4, XBONE) have also sold more than the previous-gen consoles in the same timeframe, with the exception of Nintendo consoles (which was about time that Nintendo got hit IMO, they've been delaying technological progress with their extremely weak consoles, and developers finally got enough of it).
