Yeah I keep wondering about that 40cu polaris. Maybe AMD is holding onto that one in case of a strong 1060/Ti. Or maybe there isn't one at all

There may not be an "X" variant this round of time. Let's look at all the information available so far. AMD never mentioned any X variant. In the past if there is going to be a 290X or 390X AMD will definitely make that information obvious.

This is RTG we are talking about now. I feel like they are just going to drop the reference version---RX460,RX470, RX480 on the market. If AIB want to do any thing they can overclock the living sh*it out of the GPU.

Won't happen and G5X is overrated even 356bit bus is faster....

I hope 490 > 512bit bus G5X ! =P

The current available information suggests Vega10/11 to come in HBM2 flavor. GDDR5X won't see much action probably from RTG's side.

HBM2 is a dream, i'm not over hyped that hight !

but i need upgrade to power my 3440x1440 monitor - ~40fps in The Wticher 3 isn't that good =P.

+ AMD should make again DUAL Monster Chips for high end gamers..

5970 and 7990/295x could be perfect, if they would release it in same date with another single chips!

I actually like the fact that AMD will not oversaturate its lineup with both the X and non-X versions, as I find the nomenclature horrible. Same applies to Ti. Higher number -> more perf... Everything in between can be populated with custom cooler oc versions

Not sure but i think RX 470 is cut version of RX 480. (Less cores +smaller clock on GPU / smaller clock on memory) (so it would be the same like 390 and 390x.)

I don't know, I think there still will be X variants. The lineup is a bit confusing since none have been advertised but I believe they are doing the same thing they did with the R9 285 and stocking up on the better binned chips while first selling off the excess poorer chips. It may point to the process being a bit finicky at first and resulting in bad yields so they need some time to stock pile them and save them for a better scenario.

Or its like yall said and there is no X variant anymore.

I'm not completely sure if GD5X would bring any performance increase to this card. And to have more expensive memory just for the sake of a bit lower power consumption (which is very low as it is) would make the card miss the point of its (hopefully) great price/performance.

GDDR5X is barely available. It's just now hitting full production. If you want RX 480 now, then there was no way GDDR5X was going to happen because of the short supply. It's one of the reasons why the 1080 is supposedly in short supply too.

Just seen a Visiontek pop up on Newegg but were all sold out , i did notice the warranty say lifetime.

This may be just in my browser cache but i did a search on newegg for Radoen rx480 and it shows up but the link is now dead .

So we should get some real facts soon hopefully

I am pretty sure they did try to create it using that 1 game showing theirs being faster but reality AOTS pretty much turned in to nothing more then a tech demo for AMD cards. only 70k people own it on steam.

What's wrong with X naming (if it used right) guys?

Anything is slower than AnythingX was the point, was it not?
I.e. 480x > 480 (as 290x > 290, 280x > 280).
Actually 485 > 480 would also do.
It get's confusing only when you have both X and 5 ending cards.

Spirit of the NDA is not to peep a word about the card less allowed to, though some don't care so much and talk that they have it. Pcper never talk about a card they got in before hand if they are under NDA.
