Anybody else picking this up and playing over the weekend? Last weekend the game went in open beta; I tried it, was pretty decent for the type of game, and decided to pick it up for a few different reasons. So far it is pretty fun, but challenging. Yes, it's another EA survival type title. King of the hill mode with 100 player servers, a pretty large map. I don't know the background, but apparently was made by the guys who worked on/made H1Z1 or DayZ battle royale and finally were able to make their own game. It is a lot more polished than H1Z1 battle mode already - in the simple facts that shooting is FAR superior, there's a lot less lag, driving is better as well.

I have to look into this after work.

Just played 5 hour stretch with a friend, very fun and intense game in situations. We won one of our first duo games (warning annoying yelling): https://clips.twitch.tv/CrunchyFaintMilkNerfBlueBlaster

Me earlier in one of my first games going second in singles...so frustrating, I don't do third person camera views so I don't know how to play those situations (wallhax is something I tell myself whenever I'm salty lol). The other guy played it well, with the nade to the side to force me to peek the other side. https://clips.twitch.tv/OpenProductiveSquirrelEagleEye

I have yet to play it, just got it gifted to me tho, seems fun.. gonna be trying it this weekend.

I picked it up. Fun game. I think it would be way better playing as duo or squad. My best finish is 10th in singles but I would have been higher if I didn't forget that you can't jump out of moving cars....

I've won singles once and duos twice so far. It is very fun, very intense game. Really liking it, but it does have its problems.

Saw a youtuber play it -- Honestly dont care for it. We have about 5 or 6 other games that do 'Hunger Games' or 'King of The Hill' style game modes and while its probably fun to play for the first few times, its something thats been almost been done to death at this stage and is not really that unique in terms of gameplay.

This is my own opinion, I wont be getting the game

I am loving this game! There is supposed to be a quite large update thursday with a new weapon, better movements, and GPU performance upgrades.

Ah, was a gm tech for 5 years. Always like the LS family of engines.
Yes to both.

*Off Topic*

I am putting a 5.3L in my F100 build that I am doing (progress thread over at generalnonsense forums). Its getting microsquirt ecu with GT45 turbo 80LBS, siemens deka 80's, and a TH400 trans.

I'm in the same boat. I get the killing floor style, but not an 8km x 8km island... are there even rounds? or is this just an ongoing contest that will be completed at some later date after each competitor dies of boredom? Killing floors with last man standing have been around nearly as long as arenas. The idea is that they're reasonable sized so that you're not waiting forever for the next round to start.

They never quite have the same staying power as more team/objective based games but they are fun. The mass island thing screams "get sniped from afar in the first 5 minutes then wait 2 hours for the round to finish" oh yeah gimme some of that:rolleyes:

There are no rounds. When you die, game over and time to head back to the lobby and find a new one. The play size of the map gets progressively smaller as time goes on and you lose hp when you are outside of it. Plus, there is duo mode and squad mode where you can have 1 - 3 friends along for the ride. For the $30 I paid for it, worth it. $60? No way.

Definitely worth $30. I've been playing (and streaming) quite a bit of it. Won a few solo and duo games. Solo squad queuing is fun. Really needs to be a hardcore mode - third person ruins any real tactical element to it IMO. In single player, it is pretty much third person camping and hope you see somebody running from the circle.

That's probably why my k/d sucks so bad...I am usually hunting...:)

Just like every other game.... yawn.

Id rather buy BF1

By all means, buy it then. Fuck EA and the shit they rolled out. They ruined Battlefield after BF2.

I already have. While the general premise of battlefield games are 'sameoldsameold' the setting of the games are always different (though not always if you count bf3 & 4) at least bf1 tried to mix things up a little.

I can name at least 3-5 other games that play exactly like playerunknown's battlegrounds and they were all released within the last few years.

Remember when dayz was a thing? Next thing you know is everyone is trying to make a dayz clone or a 'zombie' game

I agree and I like the location and date of Battlefield 1 but I refuse to buy anymore of their garbage. I bought 3 and was disappointed. Waited 6 months to buy 4 and it was an atrocious game but there were things I liked about it better than 3. After the last two games though, I just won't buy their crap until at least half price sales.

i played h1z1 and even if this one has better gameplay still the same for me, just watched some videos and is a not for me , i got bored of this kind of games , and $30 for a early access still to high wtf??

The test server is up and should show up in your steam. Just watched stonemountain64 play on it and the vector is super awesome!

New patch is/was really good, having so much fun with the game in random ways. While I hate the circle/the aspect that makes people just camp, I have been finding that since you don't have to kill to win, playing the game giving absolutely zero fucks (because you're in solo and everybody else is paranoid) gets you top 10 pretty easily and is really fun.

If the devs continue to roll out monthly patches like the one we just got, then I really think they could hit their 6 month of EA target - I'd give them this whole year, but that is if they stay consistent and end up working some of the big things out early on (engine movement smoothing and general lag for starters) they will really have done it right.

It is 100% better as duos and squads. Ive literally played it 30 min and think its a better game than H1Z1 KOTK. More guns, gun customizations for various scenarios, faster pace combat (not who can take the best turtle shots - turtle shots being your body moves about as slow as the bullets do), more tactical, and I think its cool being able to drop into the map where ever you want.

I was going to get this game right away because Playerunknown now leads the development with this game, unlike the mod in ARMA and H1Z1, where now H1Z1 is not just riding the wave of basically his idea and work. H1Z1 has been in early access for years, and they havent done shit with it other than come out with over price skin crates.
