OFFICIAL Cyberpunk 2077 Game Discussion

Games shouldn't be released on platforms they can't properly run on.
That's easy for you to say but not easy to do when you have a signed publishing deal that requires you to deliver a working version of the game for base console. Have you seen any game that for instance was only released on PS4 Pro?

but guys... pc gaming is dying. o_O

Winter came years ago. The undead won

Console peasants still slinging mud, we let them be.

Yeah you can't win with these folks. I own a ps4 slim and never expected the game to run properly on it. This is a late gen title that was primarily developed for PC, shitshow on base consoles is to be expected.
I think part of it is that last gen was still new when the game was first announced. So Im sure a lot of people who've had them since then were hoping it would run on those consoles. To some people its lowkey a last gen title. Of course it is current gen, but this ones weird because they started teasing loooong before it was ever possibly gonna exist. Lotsa burned console users is a given. Feel bad... does kinda suck to buy a game thats sold for that console and then find out it doesnt really run properly on it. But realistically it was never gonna be great on those things.

Though honestly... if there was anyone out there who couldnt feel the impending storm in thier bones, I dunno what to tell em. All was foreshadowed by the miasma of hype. It was always there, in the shadows cast by the smoke.

I reserve judgement on the right and wrong of it. Just sayin... par for the course this far right on the hype scale.

Easy out much? No one forced a gun to their head and forced them them to sign a deal that they couldn't deliver on.

Wow, that's pretty ignorant of you. "console peasants" don't deserve a decent gaming experience too after spending their money on the game? Or is it that only the "pc master race" deserves to have an opinion?

Didn't like the Witcher games but I'm in , though technically later, since a day long dl got in the way.

No one forced people to buy game for consoles that are at the end of their lifetime.

Beside, they get a free upgrade to next gen version if they ever buy the next gen console.

It was a joke. Lighten up. But yes their opinion is irrelevant because they signed for a walled garden with zero control.

You get what you pay for. Console buyers waive numerous rights as consumers and get burned for it. What's new? Cloud gaming is much the same. Sucks if you fell for it, live and learn. Do they deserve a better experience? Sure, but they're left to that single point of entry to gaming, so their opinion has little value. They still game on the same machine and already bought the game. Their voice is muted once they do, really. On the PC, we have MANY ways to present a fat middle finger to publishers, devs, whoever we like, because of the freedoms the platform offers. And that includes the variety of hardware. We 'force' devs to deliver something that at least runs somewhat proper on midrange, or they simply won't sell.

Its not criticism - its food for thought. If anything console and PC gamers have each other to thank - consoles for being the masses required to release bigger games, and PC gamers for being hyper critical on the actual experience and acting on it. CDPR kinda proves we tell devs what's good and what's not - they deliver and they're cult heroes. And for that, consoles can only be grateful getting a slice of it on their platform. They don't have much of it, even with all the indie and PC ports coming to them, control is always limited and the entire experience controlled to fit shareholders dreams. Any day of the week some idiot in a glass tower can decide to cut the cord and you're screwed. Now, note how CBP is a GOG - DRM free - offline installable game, then point me to a single console game like it.

I understand the reasons, although I wonder if they couldn't have a staggered release, with xbox one and ps4 versions coming out later, optimized.
But you made it sound like everyone should just know not to buy it on those platforms. No, the game is being sold for them, and customers can expect it to meet certain standards.

It was definitely overhyped, and I expected opinions that it does not live up to the hype. But I can honestly say that I didn't expect it to be full of so many jarring, "in your face" bugs. Even that last delay was rumored to be related only to making it run well enough on old consoles. Clearly, they must have known it's not actually ready but just had to release it at this point.

Yeah good luck trying that with people already sending death threats to developers over 3 week delay.

You can pet cats. Fucking awesome.

Judgment aside, if you had two brain cells and half an idea of what gaming means you'd know that with upgrades within the same gen for each console this was going to happen. It was even repeatedly mentioned the moment the machines were announced. The consoles are, ever since, just underpowered PCs with all of the disadvantages, and none of its advantages. The penny has to drop sometime... And even the base machine was widely considered weak at the time... I remember Fallout 4 on launch... 20 FPS? And it still looked worse than Oblivion.

Now people are enticed by 'omg specs' and in the current environment of expensive GPUs, watch the next swarm of fools and money get parted and then whine a few years from now. Bookmark this, I guarantee it...

The biggest bug I see is in the voice overs where the audio is playing but the character's mouth is not moving. Jumping seems floaty in some indoor environments but Night City is beautiful to look at and the combat is pretty kinetic and driving in the cockpit view is also floaty and the streets are narrow for the length of the cars but those are all minor because this Game is giving me what I expected. On the good the music is mostly stuff you have never heard before but fits into the narrative. Where this Game looks to shine is for the ARGP fans with the loadout al a Deus Ex options for augmentation. I just got the drone but I am at work so I don't want to get past what i have already seen

pretty good watch

Here are some GPU readings for those interested. I logged GPU-z for about 2 hours.

The dips are likely the cutscenes I experienced or menu times.

Raw log attached as well if you want to look it over.

Full screen mode is enabled and all settings unless indicated are maxed out (High, Ultra Psycho)

The notable settings are:

I disable Film grain

I have DLSS manually set to "Quality"

I do not use Either the Static or Dynamic CAS settings both are disabled.

It's pretty non scientific but figured id share. My CPU sits at around 40% while running the game the entire time, which was a little surprising to me, I didn't anticipate it would use the CPU so heavily.

That said, I don't track FPS so I don't have that logged, but I haven't experienced hitching or perceived fluidity issues with the game. Not to say it's not happening. Just that my monitors are 60hz or more likely the game is just "steady" somewhere around 30+ FPS.

I've been pretty lucky I havent experienced any of the issues like C2D or massive game breaking bugs or FPS loss like others.

My wife got the PS4 edition, and the textures are mega washed out, but with a free upgrade to the PS5 edition im not really concerned and she doesn't care.

Performance aside, games fun! Initial few hours were pretty rough. UI is VERY different and it took me a bit to acclimate.

Here, here! I am with you. I spent 3 times the price of an PS5 on my rig, and i most certainly will never get in any game regardless of AAA or not, 3 times the performance. I said it many times, console for gaming is the way to do. I just love PC and for me it has many perks other than gaming so i invest the money - even tho for games like Cyberpunk it does not feel like an investment, it just feels like a punishment.
I am punished because I choose to be a PC gamer and others have better quality gameplay at higher resolutions/details for 3 times less money.

On the other hand. I really wonder what are the characteristics by industry standards when does a development company decide to title its game GOLD? Cuz apparently Cyberpunk went Gold In late October this year...and what exactly were the qualifications for this gold?

How the ...ffs.. do you call a game Gold when it's in this sory state? Who gave them the right? Who allowed them to certify the game as such?

Oh man, so far... I love this game. The dialogues... finally something not cheesy as hell but downright well done. Tarantino would nod in approval.

No bugs yet, some minor graphical glitches (Z fighting ish) but nothing disturbing.

As for the mentioned pain of PC gaming in this game... I'm not having it, with pretty old hardware. Puzzling. The screenshot under the tag is a 55 FPS, 3440x1440 shot and that's rock steady throughout. Game is responsive, combat is pretty snappy to me as well. Melee 'not connecting' I can somewhat get into, but not entirely, its the way the game does most actions - rapidly and in fast motion instead of slow swinging arms like most console-ey first person games. I love it. Countering melee with a katana 'feels' quite right.

Did end up playing a few hours last night. 1440p, basically all low/off settings and I'm averaging 60-70 fps I'd say. Only glitch I've run into so far is having a tutorial popup stuck on my screen. Haven't gotten too far in though. Even on low settings the game still looks quite good in my opinion. Will have to fiddle around with FideltyFX and see if I can bump settings up a bit later.

I got my copy too. I couldn´t resist .Now downloading .See how this doing on my 3080 :rockout:.

Today I managed to play for about 3 hours with no crashes. Performance still sucks, but at least I've completed act 1.

Also had my character's pants disappear when I was changing them, so there's that.

You can surely squeeze out better settings? Here's my (more refined than before) setup right now for 50-60 FPS @ 3440x1440

The big ones are volumetric fog quality; shadows beyond medium - close shadows at high is a big visual win though and the hit isn't that major. FidelityFX is the magic bullet - at 80 static scaling you gain a crapload of performance and the IQ hit kinda fades after some time looking at it. There are some minor graphical glitches such as actors moving in closely, will leave a smokey colored trail, it looks a bit odd in some story cutscenes only.

Did anyone notice this yet? Surely its not intentional? :p And its EVERYWHERE

Drool. Too bad photo mode is uber clunky and normal screenshots do it better, but man. I'm gonna go sightseeing some day.

Well funk, the 'no walk' thing just borked one of the missions. I accidentally bumped into some people and they got scared and blocked the entrance.

The blockers. Jumping over didn't work, neither did the crouch jump.

No walk? Isn't the default movement walking and Shift enables running? Or is it that NPCs dont move aside?

I've heard lowing cascade shadow resolution is a massive performance increase.
The game defaults to the High preset for my RTX 2060 at a 2560x1440. Tried changing to the medium RTX setting. Frame rate seemed unaffected by the medium RTX option.
Both RT presets enable Auto DLSS so framerate should hover around 'playable' no matter what.
