Nicehash Ad on TPU main site

Which Adblock extensions are working for you, because uBlock Origin doesn't seem to be catching this for me.

I'm using uBlock Origin. Are you on the latest version? And are you manually blocking(right-click menu) all of the displayed ad elements?

my 1080 cards have lower profit margins than some of the others, due to the memory used. my 1070ti mines more than the 1080 - go figure.

They make about $10Au a day between them in my VR system, which would normally sit idle.

I'm with isaac above me: the ad is fine. use it or dont... but holy crap that bright orange is eyeball hurting over such a large area.

Well that is nearly 8.00 usd on your 1070ti & 1080 on 10 aud, so you must not be using nicehash or nicehash is using current day currancy value when it showed 3.50 usd per day for both my 1080ti & 10900k on what ever default setup nicehash uses.

I don't see your two cards there doing better than a 1080ti and titan Xp would.

If your monitor was a little wider, you'd see the same ads on 3 of the 4 sides of the page along with the vibrant orange background. Honestly, it's a bit excessive.

If your monitor was a little wider, you'd see the same ads on 3 of the 4 sides of the page along with the vibrant orange background. Honestly, it's a bit excessive.

It's a nice card for the resolution I play at (1080p 144-165hz) but only has 6GB, and I'd feel more comfy with 8GB. Plus, my monitor has Freesync 2 HDR, but it's also not "G-Sync Compatible" so there's that. Hell, even used 5700XT's are going for crazy prices these days!

uBlock Origin, manually blocking the ad elements. I'm not sure why it changes to the darker colour of orange. Maybe an effect of my Dark Reader extension?

I particularly like the different shades of orange between the inner box and the outer background color.

Remove one CSS class in one place and a single HTML tag in another and it practically looks normal.

I get that some may be upset, but idle threats and all this madness will pass, and every single one of you complaining will still be at TPU when the ad is gone until the next one that ruffles feathers hits.

The objections and disdain for the ad in question is just that, contention with the choice of ad. This is not a form of disrespect to W1zzard on any level, only a well intentioned yet stern objection to an ad which is very offensive and even insulting to many. Pretty much anything else could have been put there instead and I'd have no problem with it. But cryptomining is having a very real and very harmful effect on an entire sector of the PC industry and supporting such is completely unacceptable, especially from a site in that industry who knows full well the damage that is being caused...

Yes, business is business. However, sometimes business owners need to stop and think about what is right and correct for the community they're a part of and take a stand against that which is causing harm.

That is part of the problem, cryptomining is compounding it severely. A couple years ago when cryptomining caused inflated prices and GPU shortages, there was no silicon shortage and the problem was still severe.

I'm certainly not in the market for a new one, I'm happy to continue driving my current vehicle until it dies.
I'm also happy it doesn't have online connectivity so they can't force a firmware update to cobble it's performance and I am able to drive the way I want to drive.
