Little advice from someone who's a little more experienced than I am with regards to this would be appreciated ...

I'm trying to disassemble my EK Quantum Vector 6800/6900 water block to reapply some thermal paste to the GPU die, but it would appear one of the mounting screws has been stripped, so I'm unable to grip the screw with a screwdriver to pull it out. I've tried the elastic band trick to try and increase friction between the two, but it's not working. Does anyone have any advice on how to remove it without exerting dangerous amount of pressure on the PCB?

Thanks!

never had to use a easyout for a screw that small, so no experience doing it myself. don't even know for sure if you can get one small enough.

honestly, unless it's a matter of the card overheating, I wouldn't F... with it. GPU are too damn expensive and hard to get to be doing stuff like disassembly without a "have to" reason. when I sold my rRTX 2070, it had a failed fan. because of it being a founders edition, and what I read about how complicated the heatsink is the remiove and reinstall, I knocked $100 off the price and sold it as is. I even had the replacement fan. Good thing, turned out I had the wrong size thermal pads.

A pair of finesse pliers (or any pliers that can grip the screw) if there is enough mass to grip it with the pliers, can do the trick, but it depends a lot on how the screwhead is shaped. And its a rather delicate operation since you need to grip it just right, but it can be done if really needed.

Good idea. Is there any you would recommend? It's for a M2.5 screw, and most bits I've seen go from 3mm up.
Damaged screw extractors can help here.
I used myself one to extract a damaged screw on my bike hydraulic breaks.
It seems there are also some available in small screw sizes.
Here is an example from Amazon:

I did it manually and did not use drill like they show in this example from Amazon.
I did not wanted to damage my expensive Magura hydraulic break. :D

Nice guys, thanks for your advice, I'll give it a crack next week when the things I've ordered arrive.

Turbo, would that set include drill bits small enough for those screws? EDIT ... nvm, those go down to 1.5mm so they should be fine, thanks.

Can you share a pic of the actual screw? I want to know what is the actual distorted shape of the screw that you are facing an issue with.

So you plastered the card with pads and replaced the pad on the GPU with paste?

I'd like to do what you guys have done, but in my neck of the woods, successful RMA (should I need one) requires that the stickers applied on my card by the local distributers be untouched. IF there is or are signs that these stickers have been tempered with, or removed, the warranty is immediately void. So, I guess I'll have to contend myself with such nice mods vicariously...

Only the backplate, so no major operation only the backplate screws

You can buy warranty stickers at Aliexpress. :D
I bought some myself.
They have almost for every brand. :p
Somebody here in forum gave me this hint.

Only the backplate, so no major operation only the backplate screws
Yes putting paste on reference cooler may not work anyways, because the distance between the cooler and GPU Die may not be optimum as it is designed to be used with relatively thick Thermal pad so with paste maybe the screws need to tightened really hard to get contact with heatsink.

AMD has launched the driver with FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) support:

People who has Godfall may be able test it but maybe game will get an update to support this?

Some info for who has not heard about what FSR is: :p

here is to hoping we get flooded with FSR reviews in next 24-48 hours, it says "select games" plural, so there is indeed more than one supported with this driver release.

I'm looking forward for the reviews. I'm sure it won't be breathtaking but I think it's good to have an option like FSR.
I seen a list of 12 (if I'm correct) at start but maybe it was 10?

I'm just hoping it's better than just lowering resolution side by side... that's main thing. If it's better than that, then it is worthy. I'm not expecting DLSS 2.0 quality, but as long as it can manage to do something that beats a side by side comparison of just lowering rez, then I'd be happy.

According to this article on TPU, 7 games will be support at launch and 12 will be added in near future.

I have to say from these 7, I only know 2.
I even don't own any of these 2.
@ratirt you have GodFall. Maybe I will also pick it if you think it is fun game. :)

It starts off with 7 games with support, including Godfall, and about 12 incoming games (including FC6, RE Village) with FSR support, and a whole slew of game devs that would support the feature. I'll probably get Godfall just so I can test it on both my Vega64 and RX 6900 XT rigs.....and see if it runs on the GTX 1080.

I got a 6900XT and a 5600XT so it would be great to get it tested. God Fall is a cool game and I've been wasting my lifetime of this one for quite a while you know. I assume only (or it is my guess) that the implementation in the God Fall will be pretty good. I'm really curious although I can play that game without FSR or any other FPS boost with no significant FPS drops on my 6900XT but to test this FSR feature with my 5600XT is going to be a great opportunity.

I am big fan of Far Cry games. FC6 will support it.
Pity that this game has been delayed until Autumn.
I will get it for free :D as promotion with 5800X processor that I bought in December last year.

Yes, I have also high FPS with most of the games I play on my 2K 165Hz monitor with my 6900XTU OCed to 2750MHz@1175mV.

It would be really nice if they will add it also to Cyberpunk. That is the game which drops significantly when Raytracing enabled. Without Raytracing the FPS hover in range of 90-110.

I am big fan of Far Cry games. FC6 will support it.
Pity that this game has been delayed until Autumn.

Actually, I play 4k 144Hz and the 6900XT does the trick :)
I know it will be implemented in the CP2077. You already have thge fidelity FX there. I read this news somewhere with the CP2077. A lot of developers are interested in implementing FSR. People can say whatever they want and praise Nvidia but the fact of the matter is the FSR will be a game changer if it turns out to work on all of the hardware regardless. Improvements for the implementations will come as well and I'm pretty sure this is going to happen faster than with DLSS 1.0 due to huge number of interested devs and that is because FSR is open for everyone and, APUs which is a kicker here.
