OFFICIAL Cyberpunk 2077 Game Discussion

While that is true, no one will thread ban you for sharing your personal perspective.

Compared to what?
Compared to what CDPR said it was going to be and what we now have the AI is dumber than snot

Never happened to me (I finished nearly all quests and have almost 100 hours of gameplay).
Just because it's never happened to you doesn't make it not happen to other players. I personally try very hard to ignore the glitches and bugs but it does lead to a not very immersive time while playing just those small things that you know should work but don't, like a legendary loot drop that you can't pick up because it's stuck in/under/on some other object silly shit like that lets the gaming experience down some small things like that can end up being quest stoppers

The problem isn't that some really specific and insignificant feature is missing compared to some old ass game or even the bugs. Things take a turn for the worse when you look at the big picture, cyberpunk is just too pedestrian and run of the mill, there is nothing in it that feels new/fresh/innovative or whatever you wanna call it. It's just an amalgamation of every mainstream take on an open world game from the last decade meant to appeal to as big of an audience as possible.

If it wasn't for CDPR's popularity or the negative press at launch this game would have surely fallen into obscurity by now never to be heard from again. It's not a bad game, it's just too plain and forgettable.
If it wasn't for CDPR's popularity, expectations wouldn't have been sky high, and people would have appreciated the game a lot more for what it is, rather than what they compared it to, or wanted it to be.

You are not off topic, you are discussing the game.

You make valid points from your experiences, but trusting someone else's experiences over objectivity is not what a prospective buyer would or should do unless they don't use their brain at all.

This is called objective thinking and is why some of us won't ever buy it, you have to respect both sides. I won't ever stop looking at the issues until patches have come and fixed them, othewise it is still an issue and the game is not cheap either.

Vya Domus above has made a great point above too that is somewhat hard to express is just how meh the game is overall.
Have you not tried the game yet? If there's a discount, or if you can borrow it from a friend, I suggest you do. The difference between first-hand experiences and things we misjudge as objective facts can be day and night. ;)

Going to have to disagree. You should consider objective aspects to the degree of verifying that the game is actually working to a metric that clears for you. But beyond that, everything about the objective aspect of the game enters the realm of subjective interpretations and all bets are off as to what people will experience in a game that will make quite glaring objective flaws simply not matter to them. Or conversely, what will make them have zero love for an 'objectively' good game.

Man... even choosing which flaws you will and will not accept is not objective. The flaws may objectively be there... but there is no perfect game and we are making judgement calls based on what we see and experience, along with past experiences. You can argue that some games are closer to perfect than others, and that more will be likely to play them because of that. I can accept that. But to make it only that, as though only how many flaws a game has should inform your purchases... I think that's a bit reductive.

Cruelly, the only way to know if a game is good for you is to play it. This is art and entertainment. You have to trust your OWN experiences. Your own intuition will help you figure out what you will like. Sometimes you get let down and with a little humility you let it go and at least try to make the most of it. And then maybe you find it doesn't matter. These are things you can't know if you don't play. There are just so many factors here. I agree, other people's opinions aren't the best metric. But maybe there just isn't a great metric for discerning whether or not you will enjoy an experience you've never had? You can infer based on memory and whatever info is available to you. All sorts of factors will weigh in. And you still won't know. Doesn't mean disregard real issues with a game. To me it just seems that using objectivity in this way is equally as lacking as simply going by opinion, as either could essentially override the other at any point. I don't think there is an easy way to know. It can be hard to frame objective flaws within one's experience. Some that sound terrible end up being nothing to you. Others may be game stoppers for you and yet still there are others that press on fine. It's just not something you can easily separate out. It would be nice if it could be simpler.

Example related to thread. If I saw everything that was being said at launch before buying, I never would've bought the game. Truth be told, I had suspicions and was curious. And I saw the many flaws. And I enjoyed it for a few hundred hours. And I am still very critical of it, maybe more because I have played it that much. I don't regret it for a second. It was worth the cost to see and experience it. None of this stuff is as black and white as you seem to want it to be.
Totally. Call of Duty XYZ, Battlefield 35979845 and CS:GO are objectively regarded as good games, but for me, they're just a copy of a copy of a copy. At least CP77 tried to create something more with its story and its deeply anti-capitalist atmosphere. It's making you think and feel if you let it. Speaking of which, atmosphere is my no.1 immersion factor. I don't care if there's an occasional bug here and there, or if the crafting system isn't perfect as long as the game can make me feel like I'm really there. CP77 does that well (not perfectly, but quite well), and in an era when Generic Shooter 3956735 and Childnite dominate the gaming world, I'll take every game with an atmosphere I can get. It's a subjective experience, I know. One's life is made up of subjective experiences, not objective facts.

Compared to what CDPR said it was going to be and what we now have the AI is dumber than snot
That's why I never listen to the media before launch. Building too high expectations too early only leads to disappointment.

Fair enough, but it doesn't make the initial case less nit-picky.

Yeah, saw where you were coming from there. It's great that there are still ways to try. Demoing games can be tricky and that is really too bad, I think it's a great way to sell it on some real merits instead of just talk. And people will have less to clang swords about if they can get the money back.

Personally, I am axiomatically opposed to judging my games on a scale of bad to good. At least not primarily. And especially not going into them. I find I can never place enough confidence in that framing. It produces some aberrant outcomes for me. I've learned to look at it more in terms of personal interest level. Because if I'm really interested in playing a game, I find myself in a mindset where the quality could be anything and I simply am not concerned. I want to see what it's about. Easy goal to meet. If all I want is to see what it is about, I can't fail, right?

No... but that is how I saw this game. I thought it could be great, mediocre, or terrible. I was leaning mediocre. Just by sheer hype factor, there was no way they could ever deliver all of that. But I wanted to see THE Cyberpunk game. We don't get a lot of those in full scale titles and a big-budget studio is making one. I wanted it to be really good. Of course it disappointed me on many fronts. But it was still good. I made sure to see it all, because what was good, was like, astoundingly good. But at the end of the day, it's the complete package of experiences that came with getting into it that made picking it up worth it for me... something a little beyond all of that. It has been very interesting and I'm really satisfied with that. I want to see what else they will do. But that's me. I went into it for my own reasons and had my own fun. And sometimes I really believe that's just the way I should be doing it. I get so much more out of everything I play that way. I think that whether I realize it or not, personal interest is the deciding factor there - what I have to put into it. From there, I'm just reaching for reasons to convey to others.

But that is to say I wouldn't hold it against anybody for waiting it out or simply skipping it. You do have to ask yourselves how interested you are in playing it. I can't really speak on that. This is just the mindset I've found my way into.
That's a great attitude. :) That's why I say that every game should be judged on its own merits, based only on how much fun you're getting out of it. Though sometimes you need the right mindset to have as much fun as you can. CP77 is one of those cases. You need to let the game speak to you without getting lost in the minor details. If one can't, or don't want to do that, fine. No game is meant for everyone. But it doesn't make the game objectively bad.

Could you tame down and say enough is enough? Again the same?

We all know the game is far from perfect, but whatever, this ego clash won't change or prove anything.

Maybe more on topic, what's changed in the latest patch? I still haven't had time to run the game... just downloaded the patch in few minutes. Is something better?

If it wasn't for CDPR's popularity, expectations wouldn't have been sky high, and people would have appreciated the game a lot more for what it is, rather than what they compared it to, or wanted it to be.
Yeah, I think this is a given. The hype was too much. The game is great, no doubt about that, but the hype built it up in peoples minds that it was going to be the greatest game of the decade and people were disappointed by the let-down of it having some flaws, glitches and gameplay having a learning curve.

Is something better?

hmm, I'm in no rush. I'll get it when it hits $20. should hit that price prob April 2022 easter sale.

Check out DL Compare, you can pickup GOG keys for barely over 20 bucks now, all legit:

I am likely to be removed from this thread because people are strange, they report.
Yeah look, we have to actually CARE about what people report to take action

It's better than the empty-headed NPC's in GTA5 and many other similar open-world games.
Erm NO no it isn't shit even the AI for NPCs in FO4, Skyrim SE, GTA V is better than CP2077's it's just down right stupid cars just stop in the middle of the road and don't even try to avoid obstacles they'll literally sit and wait till you remove a body from the road before they'll start driving again not even attempting to drive around it as for the pedestrians all they do is just walk round in circles or just despawn if you look funny at them yeah ok so now they'll run away if shooting starts but that took how many patches to get that to happen

the NPC's in CP77 are really bad, there is tons of videos of it, just like the police is really bad, the getting out of a moving car is really bad, V's shadow is really bad, the water physics is really bad. There are things that games from 10 years ago already done much better.

Biggest burn is that there are 2x the amount of people currently playing Witcher 3 than there are playing Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam

I can say with great certainty that it looks better on a 3070 Ti than a GTX 980.

You guys don't like the game. We get it. Can we move on please?

Witcher 3 has been available in Steam sales for the last year or so for 6€/$8 (plus Netflix's series of course).
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently discounted at 40€/$ in Steam and that is the lowest price it has been so far.

The push for GOG when buying Cyberpunk 2077 was also quite a bit heavier than it was with Witcher 3.

Witcher 3 is just a superior game than CP2077, one that CDPR was so proud of that they got too cocky. I guess at this point CDPR is just allocating minimum crew to work on CP2077 and move on to other projects (Witcher 4?).

I can't tell you how many times I nearly crashed because a car was just randomly sitting in the middle of traffic, but besides the bugs this is still a good game, it just needed another year or so of development to work out the bugs and flesh out the story a little more.

I never said I didn't like the game I said the AI was dumber than snot and some of the glitches make me laugh a lot seeing as I have around 360hrs in play time I've seen quite a few

like this one which happened just as I was walking by a building

which just goes to prove that even the NPC's hate thier AI so much they jump out a window from 30 stories up

Thank you for sharing those... lol I had no idea as I have not watched much of any content about this game. Honestly the 2002 comparison was sad to watch... hard to believe such a well funded AAA game can't even compete with 2004-2008 physics in games...

are you sure, like really sure?
Like, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really frakin sure. Personal experience. If yours is different, hey that sucks for you.

I can't count how many times GTAV NPC's do crazy, dumbass stuff outta nowhere! Just haven't seen the same kinda crazy & dumb in CyberPunk2077. Now I'm not saying there isn't some funky stuff with the NPCs going on from time to time. But nothing like the level of stupid from GTAV NPCs, or any other game for that matter.

BTW, that video is from December of last year comparing CP2077 1.04 to GTAV November 2020 update. GTAV is 8+ years old and they STILL have not fixed all the things wrong with it. Yeah, when CP2077 reaches the same age as the now 8 year old GTAV, I expect that CDPR will have refined it to something excellent, as demonstrated with The Witcher 3. Yeah. You did no favors to your argument with that video as it very effectively highlights what makes CP2077 completely superior to GTAV in many ways.

Additionally, shall we all remind ourselves of the horrendous problems GTAV had during it's first 3 years? How about we just compare GTAV's first year to CP2077's first year?

Soooo, would you like to continue with the flawed context and the nitpicking? Hmmm?

Again, you took an isolated example (one that I never encountered during 100+ hours of gameplay) to prove that the AI in the entire game is crap. Why are you so hell-bent on proving your point anyway?

If you play the game today you will see that nothing changed in this aspect, apart from the police AI that is still a joke but it's a bit less idiotic in the way they spawn. More, some things got worst, in the console versions now the NPC's are clones of clones,, i guess to save on the cpu load they are literally spawing the same NPC over and over.

My question stands to you too: what do you gain by trying to prove that the game is crap? You don't like it, fair enough, but what's it to you if others do?

i have no idea what you are talking about, i own it on EGS, i went for almost 100% the 1st time and i am on a 2nd playthrough. It's not a bad game but i'm not blind and what he was saying was false, i was just demonstrating that.

Stop blindly shilling for things.

Fair enough. I still wouldn't call people blind just for having different experiences of the game.
