Unlock the shaders - AMD Radeon RX 560D

Not all cards can be reconfigured into the full number of registers depending on the method used by AMD: software or hardware.
Software restricted version can be manipulated through BIOS parameters, hardware castrated (i.e. laser etc.) cards can't.

Hi, i have lurked many forums and ctrf-f a lot of them but nobody seems to have tried to mod a rx550 4gb with elpida(yes, not micron) memory to unlock all the shaders.there seems to be a radeon pro wx3200 with more shaders with the same silicon but i cannot use the bios because of the memory mismatch, can somebody point out how can i edit the hex to include another memory type?the chip in question is not baffin but Lexa.the card in question is an Elsa rx550 4gb with 8 elpida memory chips running at 1500mhz with 8 compute units which i intend to unlock into 8

tried pbe but changing the straps isn't enough, i can recover the card from a brick you can be heavyhanded with your mods, thanks a lot.

Hi,

Can you please edit my BIOS to unlock the full 1024 shaders, and turn the memory up to 1750 MHz?

Hello
As you can see we wait for @Final_Fighter to respond.
In the mean time have a nice day!

Hi! Here's the unlocked BIOS - I used the same formula for modification as thread starter. If the GPU's not laser-cut, it should work.

So, I flashed it using the AMD VBFlash / ATI ATIFlash from AMD VBFlash / ATI ATIFlash (3.20) Download | TechPowerUp
It said flashed successfully. Restarted the system - the monitor remains off. No signal.

What to do now?
To return the card to the shop, claiming it doesn't work.
It has a warranty.

I am going to return the card.

No need yet to return it.
1st you should find a mainboard with discrete video (onboard). Or borrow from a friend another video card that will be used to display on monitor.
Put your video card in PCIe slot
Boot into BIOS of the mainboard and choose main video card to be the discrete one.(in case u use 2nd video card - that will be main, do not change anything in BIOS)
Start windows and flash your video card by using the original BIOS file.
Then restart and test it.
Cheers

I will try to return it and get my money back.
This is not a graphics card, too weak for too much money.

Then in this case it is your choice.
Good luck mate!

Well that's just wonderful. Not. o_O
Anyhow - the only thing I did is found the spot with that "70" value (only one in the file) and changed it to 6F, then corrected the checksum with Polaris BIOS editor 1.7.5.
You could flash original BIOS, so at least the card is working when you return it. And yeah I get your frustration - it is slow for today's games, like HD 7850 with higher clock and half of ROPs. Not good.

Please do more to verify what specific card the person has instead of just flipantly giving out bios files.

Here is the modified BIOS, same pattern (22 70 22 3D -> 22 6F 22 3D). Test it and be prepared to re-flash (even with additional PCI card) if it doesn't work.

Thank you Pavle, I'll try it tomorrow and then I'll let you know if it works ... Thank you so much ..

Please, I ran that bios but those shaders are still only 896 .. Thank you for your willingness

Fiddlesticks! I'm sorry it didn't work.

Perhaps the card has a physically disabled GPU. Must be that only some early cards were open to BIOS mods...

This website is written in English, if you want help, what you type must be translated and you can do that yourself.

I am willing to try it myself (got a little experience messing with those things, won't be a problem), but my card is still under warranty (actually it arrived today) and I would like to know how much performance does those extra shader units give.
Thanks!

That's the spirit! :)
If you successfully unlock the card you gain 128 shared processors (1024-896) and 8 texture units (64-56) and performance is then up to 14.3% higher (1024/896).
