Just tweaked those last night... they do make a tiny difference but not like the read turnarounds... Still playing with read to write and write to read turnaround delays at this point i feel like i hit the point of diminishing returns.

EDIT: so those timings together are tricky af. If they are out of sync some really weird stuff starts happening in the frame pacing department. I think I found a combo that works (tested in 5 games) but man... the FPS gain per hour of tinkering definitely took a dive with the full set of turnarounds vs just the read to read and write to write.

I agree. Except for the 11900k bit. From a consumer point of view yes the 11th gen was atrocious. But I think the Ian had it right that this was really an internal exercise in adapting designs to different nodes / backporting more than anything else.

Yeah he was too harsh on RKL. From a gaming perspective sure, there's nothing there vs Comet Lake. But, you could say the same thing of Zen 3 vs Comet Lake in gaming.

However they are significantly faster in single and lightly threaded apps, particularly web, which means snappier feel for the end user. This is why, for example, RKL was a > 10% faster than its nearest competitor in converting files using iTunes - which is something that a lot of people actually do as opposed to running Blender. It's also faster on many games which are either lightly threaded or bound to a single limiting thread. That actually describes most games in existence, new and old.

Here are my stock scores on R23 and geekbench. I have added my temps too, you can see temp with CPU at 100% I notice its at 3.6ghz, is that the max stock on a 12700k?

If you're referring to the 3.6ghz in Cinebench, it is reporting your base clocks.

Iirc all B660s are DDR4 (only Z690s have DDR5 versions) which makes sense since if you're going for a B660 you're unlikely to drop $300 on a pair of DDR5s or highend B-Dies and instead settle w/ the cheapest 3600-C16 or something

It is possible to have the lower end chipset to be at almost the same price.
B550 is an example, there are plenty of boards that cost more than the cheapest X570 boards and even with better components.
The cost of the PCH is a rather small difference compare to the retail price.
B560 allows Ram OC and MCE, some boards allow adjusting the PL and Turbo within the locked ratios.
The higher-end B660 boards better have VRMs good enough to support a 12900 non-K under MCE.

Nope, look at the screenshot. It shows 3.61ghz. Of course Cinebench also says he on Windows 10... I think Cinebench might be screwy.

Intel has shortened the list of games with DRM/Denuvo that malfunctioned under Windows 10 and 11 in combination with the #AlderLake processors. Only the following are still affected:

• Assassin’s Creed: Valhal
• Fernbus Simulate
• Madden 22
