That can happen if you leave the connection setting on your monitor set Auto try setting it to HDMI 1 or DP (Displayport) depending which you use preferably you should be using the DP port on GPU and Monitor

if you go into you monitor OSD and find where it has the input selection menu and manually set to whichever port you're using

Hi,

Thanks for your response. I don't have dp on my monitor so am using hdmi. I do have a hdmi to dp adaptor but that is not in use. I've changed the input to HDMI 1 and turned off the auto source. Sadly the issue is persisting. I didn't have this with the RX580 and when l switch out to that GPU it goes away.

It is as if the RX 6600 only kicks in once the OS has reached the login screen.

I've seen the same thing with my 6900 XT at 1440p in lightweight titles. It has improved quite a bit since I first got it though.

That's a possible explanation, absolutely. Fixes always taking years is BS though. AMD, like all large hardware vendors, have weird issues that take time to fix, but that doesn't mean all fixes take that kind of time. And, of course, when the fault is game specific, it might not be something AMD can fix, but it might require the developer to intervene, or it might require the two to work together - the latter of course making any fix far harder to make and implement. Either way, report your bugs to both developers and AMD, and if nothing happens, keep pestering them. That's the only way to do this.
As end user I bought card and it's big money for me, I want to play games on it out of box, that card more enought to play FHD in optimized old titles like BFV5. Why I must wait when AMD fix that? Good what I have another build to play in comfort. For example they never fix Skyrim/bf3 GPU low usage problem (radeon HD 6xxx series), it was started from 14.4 version and not fixed

I fixed clocks min/max 2044/2144 and it's reduced lags, but it's not dissapear completely, not so noticeable now

I completely understand where you're coming from, and I entirely agree that this should be fixed - the sooner, the better. The problem is, bugs happen. And they can be weird and elusive and hard to pin down - or fixing them might be outside of the control of GPU makers. And that sucks. But all anyone outside of the GPU makers or game devs (or API vendors to some extent) can really do, is report bugs, keep reporting them if they go unfixed, and wait it out. Or choose one of the two nuclear options: try another GPU, or play another game. And that's obviously not an ideal solution to anything, but it's the only things that can be done. Luckily, AMD has been putting a lot more money into its GPU driver development in recent years since they're no longer on the verge of bankruptcy, and it's been showing for quite a while through far fewer bugs, far faster bug fix rollouts, far more frequent driver releases, and more. Which also makes drawing on decade-old comparisons rather misleading, given how vastly different these things were then vs. now. I'm obviously not saying AMD's GPU drivers are problem free - no drivers are. You just seem to have the bad luck of getting a particular bug in a game you play a lot, which obviously sucks for you, and should indeed be addressed. The question is how reproducible the bug is, what is causing it, and whether it's within AMD's power to fix. One would hope with a game as big as BF5 it would have been addressed long ago, but apparently not, which would seem to suggest that it's either very difficult to reproduce and diagnose, or needs the intervention of someone outside of AMD. None of that helps you, of course, but it serves to explain why these things are some times not as simple as they seem.

You can try to set the in-game max FPS to be a bit lower or you can try to do it through Adrenalin Frame Rate Target Control.
These both can fix micro stutters in some titles.

New 22.8.2 drivers even more unstable then 22.8.1
Before it least took 10 minutes to black screen and freeze, with 22.8.2 i can reproduce it within 1 minute avg consistently, i do 2 video calls a day sometimes 3 so its pretty annoying if i can't even do video calls like normally would.

Does this series of cards go well in DX9 games?

No idea but dxvk exist so thats an option usually increases fps by a lot more then you probably would need :)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm sticking to 22.7.1 until the next update for WHQL drivers. I've had enough of being an end user beta tester, get that enough just running win 10 & keeping it up to date!

Thanks, I'll look up dxvk, but just want to play Oblivion & I'm sure that's going to be capped at 60fps anyway.

22.7.1 has those issues as well actually.

I haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary, but as usual depends what games & apps your running.

Try doing whatsapp videocalls on 22.8.2 i can trigger black screen within 1 min avg on 22.8.1 it takes about 10 minutes sometimes or its fine for an hour same with 22.7.1

I don't have enough of a busy social life to use that app. So it's irrelevant to my usage model. Not only that even if I did, would never touch that meta platforms malware.

So appearntly if you turn on new flip mode option for games with new AMD drivers you can speedrun black screens the moment i turned it off it last a lot longer not sure how much longer hopefully its the cause of all black screens pretty disapointing that option is not supported on newer drivers, altho it should be non issue mostly effects old games, all dx12 vulkan tittles already have flip mode, and it never needed it, my only intrest is because it lowers input lag

I noticed my rx 6600 cooler control linked to GPU load not temperatures, for example, running old skyrim with 25% of load (still low GPU usage on some AMD cards, since 14.4 driver) heats card to 63C and cooler won't turn on...that's something.

Also surprised by a OpenGL performance, it's really bad.

Found some workaround to remove lags, disabled PCI Express link control in power plan (Ryzen balanced), turned off vsync - always off and free sync from optimized by amd to off. No FPS limitation - No lags. Also disabled fTPM feature.

How bad if PCI Link management disabled?

Is flip mode in 22.7.1 drivers?

Its part of windows 11 22h2 flip mode is technically there by default for many modern well optimised games especially dx12 or vulkan but usually not preset in dx11 or older can be tho.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
i am on 22.8.2 since they released .... whatsapp 1hrs vid call with my mother, lot of games and other task, zero issues o_O well i am on Win10 21H1 that might be it ...
although the whatsapp bug if it did happen, would not matter much ... i rather use my phone for whatsapp vicall, my webcam is not ... well ... it's an old logitech from early 2000s  i need to upgrade that one

that continue my "i had zero rollback with AMD/ATI since my 3D Prophet 9700, unlike Nvidia where i had to rollback quite often" (almost as often as those who post issues about latest driver here )
i guess AMD/ATI is fan of me and treat me favorably (or i am a total lucksack  )

If had times where it would not crash for longer then an hour and then black screen within 1 minut consistently you know when you have it when you do calls daily it does not matter in my case if i do driver only either, i do not have a overclocked gpu if had it on 21h2 as well on 22h2 it happens more frequently tho if you enable flip mode i think or may have been coincidence i really don't know if given up on those drivers i will wait for next driver and test again hopefully its finally a recommended stable driver.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
If had times where it would not crash for longer then an hour and then black screen within 1 minut consistently you know when you have it when you do calls daily it does not matter in my case if i do driver only either, i do not have a overclocked gpu if had it on 21h2 as well on 22h2 it happens more frequently tho if you enable flip mode i think or may have been coincidence i really don't know if given up on those drivers i will wait for next driver and test again hopefully its finally a recommended stable driver.
sad that you have issues, well for me i am glad the drivers are stable with my profile usage.

Just keep testing i still do not understand what triggers it, if heard for some turning off hardware acceleration helps i personally always run with wallpaper engine, if had 1 time i disabled wallpaper engine and i had no issues for a whole day until i did a whatsapp video call and instantly blackscreened within 10 minutes while i had a call in the morning as well where did 15 minute call no problem its very random, ofcourse i have wallpaper engine running on second display as well.

i also run Wallpaper engine on a daily basis on my main rig, as you said since i do not use desktop Whatsapp quite often that might be why i do not have any issues (well whatsapp is mainly for my work group and my parent, messages and calls and rarely video call )

also as i mentioned once i have HW accelleration on, youtube? no issues (in browser setting and AV1 when available) but i use Opera GX atm ...

I was on 22.7.1 and it was solid for about 2 weeks before I had to actually reset Windows. I have been on 22.8.1 and the best test I could do was play TWWH Immortal Empires all day yesterday with no shutdowns. It had been solid though as I also have been playing plenty of Everspace2 and The Ascent as well. I hope that this solves whatever the black screen issue is caused by.

just noticed i had one issue when i initially installed the cards weeks ago, i wonder if it was because of the drivers or just the game install, i could not launch DOOM Eternal Vulkan, kept saying no physicall GPU, did not bother to retest until today  i never knew 1620p Vulkan, ultra nightmare preset RT on would run in the 70s fps + (70-98fps no major tearing or stutters)

I am on 22.8.2 since they launch it, reinstall it time yesterday, but it's not stable and can freeze/black screen/restart PC on settings that "must be stable". It need a few points more voltage on the same clock.
Maybe 22.7.1. is best between 22.5.1-22.8.2 but actually, older versions are more stable.
