Can you change my mind??? Monitor upgrade - 1080P to 1440P high refresh or 4k high refresh??

UW 34" 3440x1440

1440p and nearly 1440p performance requirements, but dual screen without bezel if you need it for productivity (2x full height 1440 windows). I'm really happy with this res, and display height is also extremely manageable at desktop setups. Curve or no curve btw... I would let that be a combo with the display type. IPS: no curve (required). VA: curve preferable.

Its the 'next' sweet spot up from 1440p 27" really.

4K is beyond it, and mostly due to height and (not the) ideal PPI at typical sizes.

Still waiting for DisplayPort 2.0 to come out. No point in going to 4k if you are limited to chroma 4:2:0 at higher refresh.

Therefore, to ensure a proper height for my monitors, thus minimizing strain on my upper back, neck and shoulders, the monitor stands must have height adjustment. Period.

I use Ergotron LX arms with all my screens now. I have a spinal cord condition and it is extremely helpful for minimizing strain. As I am presently a research student (Chemistry), I can spend longer hours studying without strain. I also have an adjustable desk, it is the Husky adjustable height workbench that Home Depot sells. The Egotron LX (I use the 13" variant) arm clamps onto it nicely. I can vary the height of the desk and the monitor independently as needed.

I get by with 4K @60Hz since it's a bit cheaper, I don't play competitive shooters much anymore, and everything is larger when running 1080p/1440p for my old eyes.

It's a super solid monitor with very poor contrast some units can have terrible backlight bleed so make sure they have a good return policy.

So is it a good buy or is there something else around for that price range that I should be looking at or considering? At the moment I have a couple Iiyama B2776HDS screens from a friend and my three LG Flatron IPS231 screens that I use for gaming on.. My other Iiyama screens Prolite model are E2473HDS which I know are rather old...

Anyone's thoughts??

Every IPS is stuck to 1000:1 static contrast. Some may do 1100 or 800 but sacrificed something in that process. Only FALD can circumvent IPS contrast limitations.

Its fine for office/well lit rooms. But you will notice drawbacks when the ambient light is going darker. Even a little.

That said most TN wasnt any better, possibly even worse and much less color accurate. It just stands out more with IPS because of its high color accuracy, ironically.

It uses an LG nano ips panel that seems to sacrifice contrast for responsiveness. That specific Panel seems to be closer to 800:1 compared to 1200:1 on some of the newer rapid IPS panels like the MAG274QRF.

How much a monitor having a low contrast will bother you comes down to how much you like black to be black instead of grey in a dark room. I have the LG 27GN850-B which is very similar to the Dell you linked. I like it but I've also used the msi montior and it's quite a bit better but also has a large variance unit to unit as far as quality so I just wouldn't buy any of them unless they came with very good return policy.

I voted 1440p 120Hz or greater the difference between 1080p and 1440p is night and day but between 1440p and 2160p is not so much and you'll atleast be assured of a decent fps on 1440p

I have to say - the new OLED HFR ultrawides are pretty great.

I'm holding off on a monitor upgrade until 4K OLED 165 Hz +

1440p 240Hz is a very nice compromise however.

In your case spec's say 23" diagonal with 1080 I personally have 24" you'd be spending for a total of 4" diagonal more per monitor
Sorry but me thinks this is a wasted venture x3 is a whopping 12" total diagonal screenage for how much $$

I'm sure you or someone else in your family can use these about to be extra monitors so no biggie.

4K60 is my next monitor. I play many games which are more than playable at 60fps and if the game is too demanding for 1080 Ti to run at 4K, there's no scaling issues if running at 1080p.
