Hey guys!

I am now the proud owner of an RTX 3060 12GB I picked up from Ebay for $94 bucks! :D

the GPU automatically installs the drivers and everything and shows the Nvidia control panel just fine but here's when some sets in...

once the drivers are installed I have about 7 seconds until the picture goes black and freezes then unfreezes and goes back to picture.

I just want to know how and why it does that and how to fix it.

I have it disabled right now and installed.

Anyone have a clue why this happens??

Please I am really desperate to get this to work!

Thank you!

I am running a 1200 Watt PSU.

This maybe faulty hardware.

If this was used for mining I have seen some GPUs exhibit this exact behavior.

So just a word of caution. If the buyer has another card the he can replace this one with I would look at that option before your return window
closes.

Just a heads up. If the hardware is damaged from mining then you wont be able to fix it. Judging from the price it was either sold faulty or from an ex miner hence the low price.

He is absolutely right. This kind of behavior appears usually at abused cards from mining environment.

So there is absolutely NO WAY to fix this??? i can't even use it at all??

It practically looks brand new too no marks nothing..

i can't have it physically fixed either?

Like reflowed or anything like that?

="(

So is there ANY work-around or way to use it without the display and use another gpu for a display??

Best Example: use the 3060 dedicated to gaming and not normal use in nvidia control panel and use just a cheap card for video display???

I WANT to utilize it SOMEHOW..

Well, the way you will use it depends on the way you will use your computer.
For gaming i doubt that the card will stand the frequencies needed for memory and GPU itself.
Keep in mind that most of the miners OC the cards.
You for example could do it also when you want to play games.
But it is a huge difference between you as a gamer that plays let's say 6h / day and a miner that will run the card at 100% load 24/7.
That is the reason for the non visible damages.

Well, in that case let's do something else:
If you don't mind i would like to check your actual BIOS to see if it was modded for mining.
Download amdvbflash , run it and do not flash anything, instead use the "save" button

As you wish.
When i said to check your BIOS, i mean your hidden settings.
I will open it with a BIOS editor to check if your BIOS was modded for mining.
But you choice.

As i said earlier i am 100% that the card was abused.
What i don't know right now, if the card still have the mining BIOS in it.
If it does, we can try to help the guy to have at least a gaming card not a mining one.
And as you said : you also bet that too, so we are 2

Now, i have a BIOS cable i picked up from amazon will that work???

Ok,
Here a thought!
WHAT IF my card the HP 3060 OEM is not what it says it is? lol

What if it's really the near identical HP 3060 LHR????

ALSO,
I don't think my X99 motherboard can support Bus InterfacePCIe 4.0 x16... :(

So would that mean i would need a new motherboard?

I am not a computer expert or engineer or anything of that sort, but I think your issue may be connection-related. Maybe the HDMI/DP whatever slot you use is broken or some solder/wire got messed up during the card's previous use. It's safer to just return this and get a different card if you can. Whatever fix you find could stop working in a matter of days.

Whether your card is a regular or LHR version depends on the GA106 that your card's using. GA106-302-A1 for the LHR version and GA106-300-A1 for the OEM version. If you wanna know the type of card, the die on the PCB will say so (I believe). The die is right under the heatsink and fans. Although I am not sure whether or not the die type matters or not regarding your issue.

Regarding PCIe 4.0, no you won't have any issues whatsoever. The drop is so small you'll never lose more than a single frame usually, so no problems with your motherboard's PCIe compatibility.

All so volt modding can to.
