The fastest card "not that many months ago" - RTX 2080 Ti:
Exactly a grand.

Only the RTX 4090 FE can be had at 1.6k USD, unlikely to find one now. So, IF you have your heart set on one, you'd have to pony up 2k USD for one from the AIBs. Go on, you nV guys, celebrate this 'win'! And as I'd pointed out, the RTX 4070 Ti aka RTX 4080 12GB originally had a MSRP of 899USD (when it was called the latter), the cheapest RTX 4070 Ti is from PNY and is priced at (this should come as no surprise) 899USD. And no, no chance of snagging one at 799USD since there's absolutely NO RTX 4070 Ti FE since nVidia didn't bother to make any.
What I don't understand is, why are some saying AMD should lower the price of its cards, when it's clear as day nVidia is the one that should. But being market leader, and owing to its nVidia mindshare (like Apple), what is the chance of that happening?
What are you smoking ? Did you even read what I wrote, why are you referring to a card released like 4-5 years ago, that's isn't "not that many months ago".
It was the 3090ti and it was 2000$.

The only card objectively faster than the 7900XTX is the 4090 period.I think you are smoking something funny. They can charge whatever they like as long as nothing even remotely touches its performance - be it classic rendering, ray-tracing, bitcoin mining, compute - in absolutely everything nvidia annihilates AMD.
And my point still stands - not that many months ago the fastest card did cost a grand..

Laugh all you want the Vega 7 is better than most Nvidia cards at Mining. The 6800XT is a much better buy for a Gamer than the 3070. A 7900XT is objectively a better card than the 4070TI. Don't get me started on the 7900XTX either because you would not understand how my loop is running by itself while I wait for my block and have to put up with GPU fans. It doesn't matter though it is sad that you use words like Annihilate to describe the difference between AMD and NVIDIA. Have you ever though that AMD could have released a 7900XTX with 3 pins and just as good as the AIB variants but they are not trying to compete with their partners. While NVIDIA has lost the most arguably beloved GPU vendor for whatever reason but competition must be a part. The problem I have is my 5800X3D, 7900XTX and Storage array belie everything that you are saying. The only card objectively faster than the 7900XTX is the 4090 period.

Please tell me that you think the 4080 is definitively faster than the 7900XTX. I could use one chart, data point as well and say that COD Warzone is a win for AMD and REBAR is so sweet on the 7900XTX that you have to experience it to enjoy it.And the 7900 XT is fifth fastest - behind RTX 4090, RTX 4080, RX 7900 XTX and RTX 3090 Ti.
Which was the original argument - sixth fastest CAN NOT cost a grand !
And at the time of RTX 3090 Ti launch it was the only card with 24 GB, while the Radeons were shipping with 16 GB only..

That is the narrative. There are many sheep though I agree with that but because of the way the whole click bait scenario works you will have people talking negatively about AMD cards without knowledge of ownership.I have expressed my opinion many times. RTX cards look fast in the charts but without further and deep investigation how the nvidia driver manages to execute so many frames, I can't be sure that nvidia doesn't cheat.
For me the XTX is the fastest but it doesn't matter for all the 99% other people who open the benches, see the results and say - meh, I will buy an RTX.

I find it strange that OP started a thread asking us if we're wanna buy the RX 7900 XTX or XT, yet goes out of his way to trash AMD and praise nVidia, I think he's the only one who sees the RX 4070 Ti as 'annihilating' the RX 7900 XT. I give up, this thread is obviously a click bait, and the OP one hella THROLL!!!

There is a Asus Dual 6600 available at a retailer near me. They have had that card for $269 for the last month. You could not buy one but they keep restocking them. Retailers have an issue where they paid too much for 30 series and 6000 series cards around launch and now the 4070TI has basically ruined it for any retailer sitting on those cards too. No wonder the cheapest one right now is $1300 in but the cheapest 3090 is like $2500 in Canada but that won't last. If when AMD drops the price on the 7900XT it will sell well also as I have said before thanks to the narrative it is better than the 3090 thanks to that being applied to the 4070TI.Both teams current gen cards are dreadful value.
It continues to look like they won't sell in the numbers they need and the market will sort things out.
Similar to the way we've seen other inflated things start to correct in the last few months.
DriversThe problem is that AMD missed the chance to accurately position these cards. When I say - don't look at nvidia, price them low, so that more people can grab them, everyone here jumps on me - oh, AMD is not a charity, they will follow nvidia.
Ok, I am fine with that - my next answer is - I don't support AMD, nor its shareholders or whoever profiteers from this insane pricing scheme.
They are destroying a market which have been built for decades and which market has never seen so bad pricing offers.
Even the pure XT should be faster than RTX 4080. I have no idea how in the end the XT trails behind.

True, this thread has become toxic, but I think the OP himself who was trash talking AMD cards, claiming the RTX 4070 Ti 'annihilates' the RX 7900 XT.In a thread created in the AMD/ATI sub-forum, why is anybody talking about the performance of the Nvidia cards? They're not relevant to the simple choice given, are you buying an XT or an XTX? There was no Nvidia mention.
Frankly, the thread has run it's antagonistic and bitter course but I can't close it. I can however hand out reply bans. Which is what I will do do try and stop this trolling, mud-slinging, low-brow conversation from continuing.

Better raster in most stuff, RT is hardly behind. FSR isn't that far off DLSS, And I'd rather not use either really and have the true native res used. More memory on the XT and XTX compared to the 70Ti and 80. Power draw is only bad when dual monitoring and idle. Hopefully a driver can fix that messed up issue. An XTX beats the 4080 in a lot of games and costs less. Only issue as far as I know is the dual monitor idle power issue. And AMD's own cards having some vapour chamber issue on certain cards. How is the xt better than the 4070ti?
Amd cards are currently in prealpha and sold as a finished product. Furthermore rt performance is a joke, while fsr is also inferior to dlss. And dont even get me started about the power draw.
Amds cards are just inferior in every possible metric this time around, which would be fine if they were priced accordingly
