How dare you!
I fed my dog pizza because of you

This is both ghetto and tech, but also because of the heat here i did.... things.
We have ducted heating, but not ducted cooling. The heater has no fan only mode.

So i jammed a square circle in the heaters intake hole, cardboarded up the gaps and now we have heat-suction vents in every room :D
1674215432488.png

and the one in the PC room has a USB -> 12V adaptor so i can noctua it's vent for MOAR POWER
1674215456005.png

These rooms have a giant 'lip' in every doorway that traps heat. This house was designed for a cold environment and installed an a fucking hot one.
This sucks the hot air pocket up, spits it out near the one AC Unit in the house and at least gives us a damn breeze

I didn't expect anything special, I just wanted to get rid of my old noname brand. The change was eyewatering. Volume went up, highs became crispy and crystal clear, I mean, what kind of sorcery is this for such a budget price? amazing piece, I instanly became a Ugreen brand loyalist:)

it would only do that if your previous connectors had bad contact, and this improved both ends

Ugreen seem quite reliable for a budget amazon brand, some of my DP and HDMI cables are from them

interesting. the previous cable wasn't damaged, it was quite new, maybe 3 years old, but it was a basic bottom of the barrel thing.

Are you telling me that the internal composition of tha cable itself doesn't even matter? It's all contacts and that's all there is to it?

Not only Amazon (let's just say at least here in Brazil it is easier to buy Ugreen from AliExpress), and not only audio/video. They make an amazing USB-to-Ethernet adapter which is compatible with the Nintendo Switch dock. I absolutely recommend it for NSW online play.

I really liked the series. I have the original DVD collection and scanned all the DVD covers many years ago. Sadly the DVD's are reaching their EOL and becoming unreadable with errors. :( I'd never thought I'd see the day my optical media died.
I dunno if it’s regional but I have Farscape on my Prime I jumped back in for a few episodes and kinda forgot. Thanks for the reminder I need to pick it up again
Edit: Aww I just checked it’s gone now. I hate how Prime does this. Happens far too often,..

electrical resistance, and yep.

So basically, if the male end was 0.1mm thicker and the female 0.1mm tighter, you've got a better connection despite the electrical resistance of an extension - stopping two worn contacts touching, basically

maybe 3 years old
3 years old for a cable that's getting moved and rotated constantly, is not new at all, more so if its disconnected and reconnected regularly

You could try a Q-tip/cotton bud with isopropyl inside the female socket and see if that helps the original connection

Wanted to post up a pic with the awesome, super cool new Thermalright anti bend adapter installed hehe. Personally I think Intel should just include one with every 1700 CPU they sell. It does an excellent job of stabilizing the socket and only cost ME $10 and some change. So their cost can't be any more than the standard one. The standard mechanism bowed the hell out of my first z690 mb (which may explain why it never worked).
Almost forgot... it's supposed to knock off 5-10c to boot. That's worth it in and of itself if true.

Sad but true you need a 3rd party solution for a problem that shouldn’t exist. It does look the business tho

They're intel, so they'll include it as part of the next incompatible socket, and not before

and that sounds so intel hatey, but it's also 100% their track record for this sort of thing

Managed to get one of these before they sold out in less than 30 mins. The last time I owned a flagship was the HD7970, still in service in a backup machine :p

I was specifically after a reference model due to case constraints and because of the lower power draw. I wanted either an Asus or an Asrock, as my previous experience with them has been very positive. I'm planning to run this card at 4K60 with the goal of achieving maximum efficiency. I will share my experiences in the owners' club.

Now my AM4 rig is complete gaming wise. Honestly, this card is overkill for my needs, but I rarely upgrade the GPU. And when I do, I want to see at least double the performance. I recently got a 4K monitor, and this was the primary reason for the swap. As I tend to max out a platform and stick with it for years, this build will last me a long time.

Alright, time to dust off some of those DOS games

Thanks for your concern! :)
Happily, my unit doesn't have the problem. 81c max hotspot in benchmarks.

So for a while, I've been on the hunt for cheap reasonably-powerful low-profile GPUs. The last one I found was a FirePro W4300 (basically a power-limited R7 260 with 4GB of GDDR5) for $45, which performs similarly to a GT 1030 or the Iris Xe 80 EU graphics in my laptop.

Recently, I came across an eBay listing for several Radeon Pro WX 4100 cards (basically a power-limited RX 560 with slightly slower GDDR5) for only $50 each. These cards usually go for $100 to $150, so I had to have it at that price.

Interestingly, I checked back the next day to find the cards sold out and the price set at $80. I wonder if the seller didn't know what he had.

It was packed very well when it arrived. The shroud has some weird scratches on it, and there's a scratch on the back of the PCB that worried me, but...

...it seems to work perfectly. Performance is very similar to the Steam Deck or an HD 6970, so older games run perfectly, and newer games like CP2077 can run reasonably with FSR enabled.

It gets up to 85C under load. The fan sounds like its bearings are going bad, but for the price, I can't complain.

I appreciate some of those posts were discussing hardware issues, but this is for discussing/showing your latest tech purchase. I'll probably delete most of those LQ's - nothing personal.

Software tech purchase: HWiNFO64 Pro ... gonna make a personal app to display system info for that new Lamptron screen I purchased.

View attachment 279701
This intrigued me so much, but can't get this Lamptron monitor since I can't find it in the local listings/sites back home. I did order one from Aliexpress, but it's made as a Raspberry Pi monitor, though the site claims it can be used like the Lamptron one as well. It's gonna take a few weeks for delivery, which is okay by me as I'd be back home by then. I may have to purchase AIDA64, or use HWInfo, I just hope to find some tutorials online to guide me. I intend to have mine below my monitor to display hardware info, I think it'd look cool.....though I'm still worried as to getting it to work.

It was a mistake to go to Aliexpress, ended up not only buying the 7.9" monitor, I'd also ordered a couple of headphone cables for my HD800 and ENIGMAcoustics Dharma D1000, since they share the same plug interface, and another for my AKG K812....along with a pair of Velour type earpads for my Grado GS1000i. Also bought, of all things. some case stickers, found some small metallic Ryzen 9 and AMD Graphics case stickers in red and gray, as well as some metallic Aorus stickers in silver and black. Man, I just have to avoid going to Aliexpress again!

AIDA64 and my Logitech G19s It all has to be laid out, spaced and sized manually I get 6 “blank” pages I can put whatever on however I want. This is just my “main page” I have one for GPU!, fans, voltages etc. I”m constantly editing it.

AIDA has support for a lot of external screens I can check if what you get is compatible

I have a HM088 Custom Lamptron Dashboard thread you might find interesting.

I was going to use AIDA64 but I didn't like the idea of shelling out $200 for it vs. $25 for HWiNFO64.

Your right. I found some more information for some reason I didn't find before.

https://www.titanrig.com/blog/post/lamptron-hardware-sensor-panels (I just found this link)
The sale page for HM088 unfortunately didn't have this link which would have been really helpful and includes a video how to setup.
It didn't help the USB stick that came with my monitor ended up being corrupted so I had no idea it came with a licensed version. :banghead:
I paid for the extreme version and then couldn't find the setup. It seems I didn't spend enough time looking for it and for some reason latched on to the idea I needed the business version of ADIA64 I have no idea why I reached that incorrect conclusion now.

There is a video on this link that shows how to enable the panel.
