I own a RX 6750 XT. So far it's been a solid performer. No issues both hardware and software. Been playing warzone 2.0 pretty much at max on 1080p getting 155 fps avg. Love it love my AMD setup. Almost bought a 3070ti but was too pricey at the time and still is. So I say on my end no need for software updates. Now I would like the newest AMD FSR as an option on Warzone 2.0. CAS is ok but want something better than FSR 1.0. That's my only driver rant. I guess.

Our battle will be legendary!

Me in reality: As a Linux gamer, actually pondering Arc for I eventually replace my aged gpu.

RDNA2 is absolutely outstanding using amdgpu and Mesa under Linux. In fact, The Uncharted Collection is totally broken on both AMD and NVIDIA in Windows but it plays perfectly in Linux.

Seems they launched RDNA3 with unfinished drivers.

Well, at least you're getting a driver while those of us in the 6000 seats are starting to wonder if anyone's still there at AMD. Not sure why I'm surprised. AMD abandoned support for my 290X under Win 8/8.1 like 2.5-3 years after launch.

AMD hasn't updated for 23.1.2 on their actual driver page or Radeon Software, I guess it's because WHQL cert isn't there yet. I guess I'll stay on 23.1.1 for the rest of the week.

Normally they'll release the beta drivers (anything not WHQL'd) on the driver page and leave the previous WHQL as the recommended. I think they went months last year with just betas. Not sure why it's not up yet.

The more I think about this as a 6000 user, the more it irritates me. Forspoken (as cheese as it's looking to be) was given away with 6000 series cards last year and they don't even bother to have a game ready driver at launch for those cards.

I'm probably just extra irritated - the latest AGESA (the 1004 patch to fix the defective 1004 they released) seems to have killed the stability of my CO.

For WinOS, or do you feel the same for Linux as well?
I haven't used either with Linux besides just as a basic display.
well then you shouldn't review because your bias then.
My opinion comes from observation of games failing to launch, texture and graphical issues. Granted AMD has gotten a lot better in recent years. As for not reviewing stuff, well it doesn't have to bias. In fact its rare to find media outlets complaining about drivers. Usually because we all know it will be fixed at some point and isn't worth the time. That is unless it makes the graphics card unusable like Intel ARC. That's when you need to let people know. Otherwise, if its just like 1 or 2 games that glitch or don't work, I didn't even bother. For for example, Shadow of the Tomb raider didn't work for the press drivers of the 6800 XT. It was soon fixed (I think in another press driver), but it was already dropped in the my review coverage.

Point being, over the years, AMD (ATI before) has had numerous driver related problems compared to NVIDIA.

Am I the only one who does not update drives unless there's are issues with the old ones or it's been 6+ months since the last update?
And that's for GPU drivers, I don't even touch the other hardware post Windows install. What's the point?

Yes...........for products like my 3070 Ti and 2060 Super with completed, stable drivers and optimizations. The 7900XT/XTX is certainly not one of those products, not by any standard.

AMD works harder than Nvidia at software? How much copium you take to type that bullshit out?

Just be aware, that Nvidia, is actually a software company, not hardware.

Nvidia isn't much better my RTX 3070 still have driver issues with Chrome hardware acceleration and FH5 crashing and rainbow textures.

 Imagine the poor guy opened a Premium Gold Pack, seeing a top and shiny M'Bappé, and then ... crash !

My 2 cts on theses drivers, Forza Horizon 4 (Steam version) worked flawlessly on a 6600XT and crashed with an 3060 every 10 min or so, since the 2 last drivers version ...
Improve framerate in a game via drivers is good, make it works is even better !

Sometimes the issue is not so much the GPU driver, but the software that are constantly being updated at the same time. So with both parts moving, something will break eventually. In my case, I've been experiencing like 4 crashes with the RTX 3060 Ti in GOW. It either kicks me out of the game and informed me that the game have crashed, or it gets stuck at 1FPS even after being kicked back to the desktop. And at 1 FPS, I pretty much have to hard reset because it is very very sluggish. I got prompted that the issue was due to outdated driver (which is not that outdated) but it still crashes with the latest driver. Could be a game problem, but it just proves that there is no one company that produces flawless drivers.

Normally they'll release the beta drivers (anything not WHQL'd) on the driver page and leave the previous WHQL as the recommended. I think they went months last year with just betas. Not sure why it's not up yet.

I think you should try it out with the supposed "outdated" driver and see if it works. I feel these supposed "Game Ready" drivers are overhyped. I've played new games with outdated drivers (not that outdated but may be as much as 3 to 6 months old) very often, and I really can't tell the difference. If it does not work, it will prompt you upfront, or you will just see the game crashing often, which may be a sign that the driver needs to be updated. Game crashing is not common as well. Day 1 problems may be attributed to the game itself, and not the driver from what I observed.

It's just unusual. In fact - someone correct me if I'm wrong - it's the first time a thing like this has ever happened.
Basically what this means is that AMD is having more issues with RDNA3 than with any of the previous architectures.
Even when they switched from GCN to RDNA they had no problem supporting both in parallel.
These chiplets might be proving tricky to work with on the driver level.

The technology being a world-first, I didn't expect anything else, to be honest. And I certainly don't care how old the driver for my graphics card is as long as it works. :)

From what I've read, it's all hands on deck to fix the RDNA3 drivers. I'll bet RDNA2 is on the back burner for the next few months. I don't play just released games ever, I'm not worried about gpu drivers, but the bug laden crap the games company foist on the buyer. I refuse to buy any game within 6 months of release, usually I wait 12 months+.

I suspect they have all hands on deck trying to sort out 7000 series, still stinks that 6000 series isn't getting some love currently.

Thankfully my 6800xt is rock solid bar type c port sucking but they will never get alt-dp working properly which is why my next rig will be intel/Nvidia.

Are you serious? Have you seen AMD's software package? I have a 3060 and felt surreal when I opened Geforce that it looked the exact same as it did when I had my GTS450......There were more features (I think) but it was still very much Windows XP.
LOL. So a new GUI that is hated among enthusiasts is a good thing now? Okay... And, yeah, never mind the fact that ancient NVCP is still more functional than it, that's just a minor detail in the whole driver race.

Gotcha. :kookoo:

I'll take Windows XP gui any day if the thing underneath it is functional. Shit just needs to work. I'll look at games instead.

Yeah this seems likely, and per-game optimizations... care face. If that's what you need on a 6900 series to run a console port like Forspoken, something is amiss

No "game ready" for 48 days when many games lunch is probably not common and unusualy strange as only the new 7xxx get the optimization.
Having a 7 month old GPU from the very top end - 6950 - and not getting the best possible game experience is a bummer.
You sit and watch how only the newly lunched, just 6 month aprt, GPU get the love treatment.

48 Days without a Driver is not so uncommon. It is true though that we have been spoiled rotten by AMD's Monthly drivers.

That is not true. AMD works harder than Nvidia at Software and the drivers are fine. I am totally enjoying my 7900XTX and do not miss my 6800XT even though that card is rock solid. The latest driver seems to have given the card a little bit more performance too.

With tons of new games coming out? Yes it is. Nvidia havde launch drivers ready for 99.9% of games before they launch.

AMDs driver dev team is probably 1/10 of Nvidias tho, if not smaller. This is part of the reason why AMD is cheaper.

Except RDNA2 isn't 7 months old, 6000 series was released in 2020. You guys still don't understand how this works, if it's the same architecture then all the optimizations apply to the entire product stack of that generation, the 6950 doesn't need specific optimizations.

You sit and watch how only the newly lunched, just 6 month aprt, GPU get the love treatment.
Because that GPU arhitecture is actually new, why is this a surprise ?

What is "the best possible game experience"? I mean, are those optimizations really so important that you absolutely cannot play X game and have a decent experience without them?
