Drivers still not working in high refresh monitors or using color depth above 8bit on nvidia cards.

I already narrowed down to AAF using an old version of nvidia audio driver that had this problem. Maybe someone can contact him and ask him to update to that version?

Tried contacting AAF but he didn't answer my DM...

Depending on the enhancers you're using you could maybe try forcing a new nvidia audio driver on top (instead) of just the AAF .inf module in device manager/Sound, video and game controllers and adjust the audio endpoints using APO Driver.
Instead of the AAF package I personally use Alan's excellent nvidia audio driver that's packed into his most recent 'nvidia display lite' mod for its baked in dolby digital decoder.
That driver is based on latest by nvidia I believe, but in your case trying to integrate the official might be the better choice as the dolby modules in both driers are likely to conflict.
Just be sure to backup your sys before fiddling with that stuff

Clean drivers again, download Allan's NVIDIA Display Driver Lite package , extract the archive and force load only the HDAUDIO driver component (not the whole thing with video drivers).
As described on the page:

Add Dolby Digital Format on HDMI output ("NVIDIA Output" Sound Property -> Advanced Tab -> Default Format: Dolby Digital)

Disabling driver signature enforcement when installing the driver might be necessary.
In some instances I had to load the drivers a second time for the Dolby Digital option to show.
But other than that It's been rock solid on my end.

Well after some messing around i did manage to get it installed but no dolby still did get a dolby tab that does nothing guess is progress still thou lol so thank you

Yeah, it works alright. MB5 setup is a big whack though. It will usually work, but IMHO it's not the software you should be after in this package.

You need to uninstall all audio drivers from the system, download the driver store explorer pinned in the OP and delete every reference to audio drivers from the audio store, then reboot and install Alan's modded drivers. Don't pick every option, enable only one of the Creative solutions or one of the spatial audio enhancers, and the mod driver will work as intended.

Instead of MB5, I would recommend you simply install the DTS suite instead.

I love you. I installed those drviers and got dolby digital and 120hz 10 bit color.
I just wanted dolby digital, not interested in all those enhancers, so you fixed all my issues!

These spur of the moment infatuations usually lead up to no good
And as for the inclusion of video drivers my best guess is Allan's admirable attempt at cooking up a universally compatible, feature rich solution that even inexperienced users can try out.
A massive kudos to him for embarking on a project with so many moving parts... Not to mention users inventively facing issues due to so many potential variables that can lead to malfunction.

Hmmm yes, I did forget to mention the black Dolby tab in the driver settings... Reason for that is Dolby used to bundle 1 of 3 software packages into these drivers depending on the license fees paid by the OEM I suppose:

1. Dolby Home Theater v4
2. Dolby Advanced Audio v2
3. Dolby Digital Plus HomeThearte

All 3 are essentially nothing more than DSP enhancers that are only intended to oomph up the the audio being processed.
Yet the highlight is in fact the DolbyDigital Encoder component which is what I pointed out in the screenshot I posted.

That said, the driver combo which includes the Dolby Digital Plus HomeThearte package is considered to be the best variant of them all as that DSP enhancer is actually a pretty decent multiband dynamics/EQ sort of thing that can add a lot of color and energy if tuned tastefully.

If you're up for an extra bit of a challenge (bit more complicated to setup)...

You could go back to a clean driver state after having removed the audio endpoints , NVIDIA driver and all other packages you may have installed in the process. Basically only having the MS HDMI driver loaded up.
From there go ahead and reinstall Allan's NVIDIA driver.
Once done, fire up APO driver and install the following component:

Go next, next and onto to next phase...
Fire up FX Configurator and at the top locate your ACTIVE NVIDIA audio device:

After that you need to patch that NVIDIA audio endpoint with the correct profile in order to associate your device with that much better DSP enhancer:

Hit Product Config Tool and locate the following entry:
Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre (HDMI/SPIDF)
Once above is selected hit:
Apply Product Settings to Selected Endpoints (which is your Active NVIDIA device previously selected).
You can now close down FX Configurator and continue with installing the last component - which is the DD+ Home Theatre enhancer.
Download, extract, run the installer, copy the included shortcut to your desktop, taskbar, etc...
Play a tune... Click the shortcut and hopefully you'll be presented with a Dolby tab on your audio device s saying claiming to be 'Off'...but...

latest Dolby APO SWC driver is v3.30505.552.0 (Jan. 2023) from MS Update

latest Nahimic APO4 SWC driver is v4.9.6.0 (Nov. 2022) from MS Update, which also includes updated Nahimic service (SVC) files

same thing for the DTS APO4 files

edit 3/13 - may need to make a new version that has these newer SWC APO drivers and maybe include an updated

Thank you Dro (anyone else who responded, sorry to ghost but I had to move and just finally relocated, wifi, stereo and PC back online. Had a timely catastrophic hdd event right before I started packing but now have new ssd and fresh 22H2 Windows 10 Enterprise. Yes, my motherboard (Intel X79) was Win 8.1 "proprietary" according to Asus and M$ but it really produces greatsound after using AAF Optimus. I think my older windows version not really recognizing older driver integration or atleast how Asus sunset support two years post release. Otherwwise this mobo has been a reliable workhorse. I am running stock realtek which allows a PCM connection over optical spdif to a Denon 1140. The difference in fidelity between DTS vs PCH which is limited to 2 channel 24 bit 4100hz which is why most people (like myself) assumed motherboard audio was an inate hardware limitation it was the driver (or lack of intergrated support between drivers and auto install driver priority) Alan deserves more credit but I think Asus and other companies with lazy or limited drivers and broken sound managers. Particularly with quality of top shelf server grade boards like the P9X70 selling at $500 aoround 2014- last Realtek driver release was in 2016 for Windows 8.1. Not that I had any right to complain since I found it on a running trail and doubled back to pisk it up. But I have been buying Asus for a long time. I accepted that unless I bought an Audigy there wasn't going to be the completely new sound experience for movies, live music recording and vidya games. The ALC892 has eight channels. When I heard DTS 5.1 for first time (June 2020) I think I actually cried. Maybe it was the Covid isolation but cobbling a bunch of decent speakers together with lamp cords ccompletely transformed the necessity and anziety of early lockdown when I had no discretionary monies for frivolty. But music is transformative and the process of beating the win store, crap drivers and my own frustrations in the process I found rewarding.

I need to go over how I tweak windows 10 22H2 using powershell. Windows store barely ran and installing third party software like DTS or Atmos didn't change out options for DTS or Dolby Digital Live (which I never really tried as both Sony and Denon receivers seem locked to DTS or PCM inputs) I play music using Foobar2000 which has advanced output for SPDIF DTS bypass, dynamic decoding and 7.1 upmixing as well as improved subwoofer controls. It felt like an epic quest then. I will re-read my own posts and search for other alc892 installs. MS store installed the stock 282 driver suite and sounds cheap and muddy for now. I also think I saved the old configurator to set the values in thedrop down boes correctly but that part of the instructions isnt archived ( should re-check) because I think there were spcific problems related to windows 8.1 that needed tweaking. I am kind of slow with this stuff but I am persistent. I dont have any real neighbors to worry about anymore and got some tower speakers gifted by landlord so its time to turn it up to 11 again.

I also never made the KGA work for Soundblaster 720 but the most recent release has a readme that might address specific settings. I gave up and used Atmos which with DTS is the best I could expect with Creative nudging out other suites for gaming online. I had surgery and both ears last year that required no headphones and playing over speakers with 7.1 was sufficient for FPS games where you need to hear footsteps in a directional way. Now the marginal improvement does really warrant the hassle since I live in a forest with no close neighbors. I have drive store explorer and the newer windows 10 x64 version 22H2 runs much better than my prior build. It could never update itself and any strain like using the windows store apps bogged performance. This newer build may have actually addressed the inexplicable issues. It runs better even with all the security permisssions enabled. So now its time to relearn how to plod. Am I right in thinking this is a Realtek rather HDaudio.sys board? Can anyone confirm ALC892 with SB720? As you said stock DTS 5.1install was all I really needed. Sorry I am kinda air-headed but included screen grab to confirm choice below. I do not use any usb or hdmi devices. Just realtek sound manager with AAF Optimus DTS selected, no enhancements and no exclusive app controls. When i attempted hasty install on March 25 I got the following message. I even tried telnet which I usually keep off for security or at least not understanding why it needs to change. Weekend goal on safe sober St Patricks Day is loud high-fidelity rock and roll. I might scare a few of the Ewoks in the Redwood trees around me. Only if I can make this audio artifact behave. I think I will keep this mobo at least another year. I just overclocked it and its not just stable and crisp but it doubles as a small space heater in a dank environ.

I was using default hdmi with AMD grapgic card drivers as I recently ungraded my GPU to RX560. But if it could do DTS I never saw it as option. This is a Intel Sandy Bridge mobo though. I am curious about that as option now too.
