Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
It was up when I posted, had been for an hour.
Fair enough. Was keeping a closer tab on it at launch, decided to pick up used mining GPUs the last couple of months. For us it's more about the 24GB than the performance and for the relatively small number I need I just grab them off ebay for about £700. No duds so far, but you do have to avoid the suspiciously-cheap £550 ones that clearly need re-padding or likely have other issues at that price.

I think the modellers would like 4090 performance but their framerate isn't really mission-critical as long as what they're doing fits in VRAM.

I usually check for a 4080 price drop but I confirm that the 4090 was available.
I put one in the basket, and still is, just to see if it was actually available.

Nice, looks like they're dribbling back into stock, Scan didn't have any FE cards when I checked yesterday morning.

4090 is outrageously expensive for gaming. We've always struggled to justify the 3090 even for CAD/GPUC for most users which is why I've only ever bought a couple of dozen.

That VAT tax is LOW! Here in Californication the sales tax on the 4090 beast is 8.25%!!!! That would work out to be $132 on a $1600 4090.

That's £, not $. North America is just about the only place on earth where sales tax isn't already included in the price, and the only reason you can't do that is because the individual US states can't agree on a figure for whatever petty political reason it is, so the tax varies wildly from state-to-state. Sadly this dumb-ass problem has infected provincial Canada by proxy :(

£1599 is the MSRP of the 4080, and that includes tax because that's normal for almost everywhere on earth.

It is also because provinces have sales tax rates varying from 5% to 15%.

Has nVidia put out any news about such cards? I've not heard any, but I seriously doubt they'd release it/them so soon, especially IF the performance comes closer to the RTX 4090, plus the pricing's gonna be a doozy, what will nVidia demand for the RTX 4080 Ti/Super? IF it's higher than the RTX 4080 (MSRP 1200 smackers) then buyers would feel they might as well go The Full Monty and snag the RTX 4090 (pretty much like what's happening now).

Of course 3999 AUD being roughly 2699 USD is GST inclusive. Given that the most expensive 3499 is Asus ROG strix and is in stock. If it gets lower than that it immediately would go out of stock due to supply and demand. $2359 including GST: AUD$319.20 or $219 tax Vs $1999 in the US is not the end of the world. Once 4090 demand shows any sign of slowing down, 4080 Ti is imminent.

So Nvidia is just going to sit on their existing SKU's until AMD challenges them or until sales start flagging on 4090's?

At this point I'm just going to wait until something comes along to push down prices on the RTX 4080 or the RTX 4080ti or RTX 4080 Super is released.

I really wish I hadn't bought a Gsync monitor now. If AMD supported Gsync I'd probably be looking at buying something from Team Red.

you were saying ...
Oh that tax. When I look at it in the morning and see WTF is going on I wake up immediately. Works better than coffee. There is just one problem in the long run, at some point you will be feeling like when you try to withdraw drugs. Throwing up also may be present.

The prices are still high in Norway and I think they are not going down. Doubt the prices will in near future.

I can't imagine paying a 25% tax on a new car or major appliance like a fridge; I'd be coming down with a good case of sticker shock.

The main reason we got the 3090Ti was the RX 6950 so unless AMD can do better than the 7900XT I doubt that is going to happen again maybe some crazy Titan card that cost 2-3k usd... The 3080 12GB and 3080ti came along so that Nvidia could charge more than 700 usd for a cut down GA102 otherwise we would never likely have gotten them.

The super refresh happened because of how unappealing the 20 series was Nvidia needed to make them more enticing.

If 4070ti and 4080 continue to not sell well going by rumors we could see price drops at the same time Nvidia can just repurpose the dies for laptop or the professional market.

It's wiser to milk customers with the current 4080 for now before releasing a version with full chip.

Nvidia said themselves that 3090 replaced Titan on that segment on last gen.

While they did claim it to be a titan class product it was mainly to justify it's 400 usd price hike over the outgoing 2080ti that in general while amazing when it launched was already somewhat hated over it's pricing. Thankfully they didn't make similar claims with the 4090.

I think with inflation it's about the same at least here in the states which given the 4080/4070ti pricing that's a win lol... Actually by my not very technical calculation its about 100 usd cheaper when accounting for inflation 2020 vs 2022.

This can happen on Nvidia too. Happened for a friend of mine a few weeks ago when he installed the newest drivers. Stuttering in games, and he rolled back, then it worked again...
yes, have suffered this with 1660Ti card, installed I think 524 driver. Rolled back when saw the stutters to 522.25, and still using it happily with 3070 Ti now, lol. But, on red side, the fuNk-up stories with drivers were with literally every new driver, and I think 22.5.1 was the most stable until 22.11.2, then I just swapped for nvidia and all good lmfao.

That's why I'd refused to buy any G-sync monitors (ya know, those with G-sync modules built in) back when peeps were buying it left, right, and center. Instead, I'd gotten a Free-sync (basically same as VESA Adaptive sync) monitors as I refused to locked into a proprietary wall-garden ecosystem, hence my refusal to get anything Apple as well. nVidia basically follows Apple with its wall-garden ecosystem, though they too have turned to so-called G-sync/Adaptive sync compatible monitors.
