I'll give that a try. Probably the more power tool also.

Additionally, I've seen these cards clocked at 2900mhz.

I don't seem to have an option for such a high frequency. Do you think it's from older drivers or people modding the bios?
You can check in HWInfo64 the maximum PPT, to see if it actually changed.

Also you have to measure your power draw - 6700XT has an absolute power limit of 203W
Sapphire Nitro+ 6750 XT has power limit higher than that. In the late Halos, it easily becomes a 220-230W card, according to the Adrenalin stats.

It might depend on the exact model. On my Gigabyte the sliders go up to 2950mhz by default without any mods.
Also you have to measure your power draw - 6700XT has an absolute power limit of 203W, which should be what you see while benchmarking with the 15% added.
Interesting. Think it was closer to only 165w at best. That was last night.

I'll set the slider 12% and double check right now.

The card is XFX SWFT 309 or something along those lines.

I'll be back with a screen shot shortly.

The 6750 XT has a higher power limit by default. PPT on my reference card is 200 W.

Yeah, I'm not hitting the PPT limit. Not even close!

This is increased 12%. Seems to do absolutely nothing. The score should be a bit higher I believe.

Try Time Spy, that's the only one that hits the PPT for me.
OK, give me a minute, BRB!

OK, TimeSpy hits the PPT limit.

Clocks only reach still but yet only 2650'ish.

Not what I expect though. Should be hitting the limit on any 3D benchmark (in my opinion)

Clocks though. I need to do better than this.....

Yes, 203W is only for the OG 6700XT. 6750XT should be allowed more juice.

There was a similar case a few months back. They flashed their BIOS with a copy from TPU and that solved it.
Ofc doing that should be a last resort.

Yep. This happens in games too, for example on RDR2 I get 145~158W usage while in BL3 I get ~165 and in HW Legacy I've seen ~170W. Depends on the load it's putting on the GPU mostly, I imagine. On NVIDIA it usually always runs at maxed power if the game isn't being CPU limited.

Yeah, I'm stumped on the power deal with certain games and benchmarks.

3DMark 05 (legacy I know) doesn't even crack past 25% GPU utilization. This should be much higher, maybe not 100%, but it's like the card is idle.

If this is an issue in games, it would be nice to know why from a gamers standpoint. Because my 3060 seems to completely clobber this 6700 XT.

Why should it use more power than it needs to? If the experience is fluid already, what more can we want? :)

The best game to test power and GPU utilization is Black Desert. Turning off the "low power option" completely maxes out GPU resource utilization on any architecture and can actually go over the BIOS power limit.
My GPU reports ~210-215W in that game :D

CORRECTION!

After I wrote all that I realized that sth ain't right about these numbers.
The DEFAULT power limit of 6700XT is 203W. The slider allows power ON TOP of that, i.e. 233-234W for the 15% max.
Accordingly Black Desert GPU power usage peaks at 236W.

I'm into competitive benchmarking.

This is what I'm up against. Right now with the numbers, I'm a 4th placer. I'd like to squeeze into 2nd or 3rd at least :p

AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT @ HWBOT
Point taken. Although, I find it weird to compete in a benchmark that doesn't stress your hardware to the fullest. :ohwell:

I have games, but isn't really my thing unfortunately.

I slid the core slider to max 2750 and power to +5%. The PPT limit dropped to 195w, which it hits the target frequency, but still only 166w at best.

In my opinion, the driver doesn't understand I want full power for all benchmarks, not just select few. Lol

Many of the 3D benchmarks have cpu physics and it taxes well my 13700K :).

The GPU is taxed as well, not all benchmarks obviously.

Further more, I enjoy both NV and AMD.
Comparing a 3060 to this 6700 xt, the NV card doesn't seem to have this type of issue. The GPU is utilized 100% even on legacy, or benchmarks you'd thunk not taxing.... it makes a big difference.

You don't wanna see the numbers from my 3060 benchmarks and then compare them to our AMD cards. It would t be pretty.

If you're getting much lower numbers then your BIOS has artificially set lower limits.

I wonder if resize bar being enabled is having some effect??

Should I disable in bios??

That shouldn't be the case.
That's what I though. Figured I ask... lol.

I benched a 6700 non XT. This XT card seems only 2.5% faster on average, at best.

Right, that seems to be an issue.

Another is I cannot install any driver version I want because it's cloud based. So I can't roll back the driver either. I tried with older versions I've DLed, it only gives me an option for the last one or most current even if the installer is from 3 or more revisions ago.

Did you check your temps btw? The card could be throttling, because of some rogue hotspot.

It does seem as if your card uses the non-XT variant GPU clocks and limits. That was the case with the other person as well, but I can't recall whether they also had the same model as you. Sadly I can't find the thread either...

Ah well, I'll have to come back to this later. Got a B-Day party to make an appearance at.

Then, Gonna try disable re bar. And maybe some more power tool action + some more digging around.

GPU max clocks slider is good for 2800mhz, I'd like to investigate how I can increase this, IF possible.

If you find this link, let me know.

Increased ONLY frequency to 2900mhz with MPT, results to a 500mhz set when click apply.

Hahahhaaa ....

It means VBIOS mod required, just like Navi1!
Im fine with that.

Not sure if the chip will handle it.

Here's 225w MPT with default clocks.

Crashed pretty hard, the driver is lost. It doesn't even know what happened to it's self....

HAHAHAHA - Like literally just now happened.
