OF course .. I removed it with pnputil after running the AMD uninstaller, which doesn't remove the INFs
Hmmm, that's really peculiar then (
if it was gone from device manager, not reported via sc.exe as started and so on).
I'm just guesstimating as I don't have 7950x3d so can't really check firsthand, but:
- did you try maybe powercfg.exe /listprofiles if there wasn't something weird left / changed / added by that driver ?
- any suspicious scheme overlays ? (powercfg /aliasesh should list those, among everything else), though scheme overlays should be N/A in this case
- was high performance profile also bugged (core parking should be off there) ? (bitsum's parkcontrol should show that in a readable human friendly fashion)
- if the driver was gone and power settings were a mess, transplanting the whole Control/Power registry subtree with via reg / regedit should(?) have fixed it as well. But yea, I can see why wasting time with tinkering wasn't exactly a priority for a day-1 review =)
Good review btw, now I have big dilemma whether to go for 7950x3d or 7800x3d. Probably the latter as my current gpu completely obsoleted the need for streaming relying on cpu - and that was the primary excuse for my slowly aging 3900x. Unless I change this gpu to amd card in the future ...
