I was wondering if this revised bios helps with an install with windows 11 at all on a normal ssd on an X58 system
Use rufus tool to create windows 11 install disk using USB. https://rufus.ie/en/
During this setup, select MBR partition for legacy system like x58 motherboards. also there are extra options to disable TPM and SecureBoot checks.
Note: With ismail bios update, only MBR partition of nvme drives are supported for windows 10/11 , so do not select GPT option when using Rufus tool.

Also, to install windows 10/11 on x58 motherboards using GPT option on nvme drives, use UEFI based emulators e.g. Clover, Duet or Refind tools on a usb disk to boot.

Thank you.
Good afternoon,

I am writing to ask for help because I installed the latest modified BIOS, but it does not work with SSD memory. I want to use the SSD for booting.
If anyone on the forum would have a bit of time to add a memory bone to the BIOS I would greatly appreciate it. I've never added an SSD and I don't have a programmer in case of trouble, but if someone could tell me how to add the hardware so it's visible through the board that would be a good solution too :)

I would like to add that the LINUX installer UBUNTU and MINT in the latest versions see the disk, but it is impossible to boot the system.

Kindly thank you for your help

Hey, wanted to say big thanks. Stumbled over this thread through this yt video:

First was a bit confused if it would work with my Hardware but it did!

- Board: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
- Adapter/Controller: Sabrent M.2 SSD NVMe PCIe Adapter bought here (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B084GDY2PW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details)
- SSD: Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe SSD, (MZ-V8V1T0BW), 1 TB (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08TJ2649W?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1)

It seems the relevant hardware id is the one from the adapter and not the SSD as I first thought.

Below my data. I am booting successfully from this SSD now and it 6 times faster than my old SSD SATA disk :)

I just upgraded the bios and it even kept my OC settings. Just selected the NVM disk on slot 1 in the boot order and it works just fine. No extra config done.

I also maxed the RAM to 24GB (tripple channel) and the CPU to i7 980x and oc'ed it to 4GHZ and now all is smooth again, very happy.

The reason I am not buying a new machine? I played Diablo4 Beta and it was very choppy, laggy and I did not want to buy a new machine for more than 1000 euro. Now I spent 200 euro and gained a lot of speed. If this is not sufficient I can still upgrade the geforce 970 gtx to a 1080 or so... That should hopefully do it...

Amazing what a 15 year old mainboard still can do...

Thanks again

Hello all,
(i will edit this post with screenshots)

"It Works" (c)
- Board: Gigabyte GA-58XA-UD7 ----> edit list in 1st post (TEST OK):peace:
- Adapter/Controller: Sabrent M.2 SSD NVMe PCIe Adapter bought here ( https://www.amazon.fr/Sabrent-Adaptateur-dissipateur-Thermique-EC-PCIE/dp/B084GDY2PW/ )
- SSD: Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe SSD, (MZ-V8V1T0BW), 1 TB ( https://www.amazon.fr/Samsung-MZ-V8V1T0BW-Contrôle-thermique-intelligent/dp/B08TJ2649W/ )

I checked (after i ordered (cough cough cough) on amazon) that the nvme drive was supported and present in the bios file with CBROM155.EXE.
dont do the same thing.
check BEFORE ordering.

I ll try to write a nice and easy to understand how to, it s a bit late, i ll do that this weekend.

But basically

Ismail made a crazy job here. This kind of action is priceless. He CANNOT add all the drives that exist in the world to the bios on demand, earthquake or not, busy IRL or not. No one can do that.

SO

Check the content of the BIOS modded for your motherboard. If you see the Vendor & PCI stuff ID that match your Nvme, great. If you dont, well, buy another one that is listed in the bios, i paid the 980 55€, that s crazy cheap for what it is.

DO NOT REQUEST CUSTOMIZED BIOS. DO NOT MESSAGE ISMAIL. Check what exists, and act accordingly, not the other way round.

(or go blind and believe in your lucky star, like me. <- NOT recommanded)

will edit, clean up, post screenshots and benchmarks, and a few tips and help to understand what is in the Roms posted in first page and what drive is included in them.

@İsmailTPC_Hastanesi : if there were more people like you, earth would be a way nicer place to be.

good morning Nick

1681548335436.png

we can see here that in the rom of your motherboard a couple NVMe are supported. I can recognize the 144D:A80* from samsung i guess.
sadly the patriot "1E4B" are not in the Option ROM listed there

i can only encourage you to search in the thread what NVME have those "codes" and try with one of them.

you can also "hope" that someone knows how to add a module in the ROM without breaking your motherboard, but i wouldnt go there, it s a dangerous trip if you dont really know what you re doing

to what i understand :

1681548701323.png

C0A9 is Crucial
144D is samsung
1C5C is Hynix
15B7 is Sandisk / Western Digital
2646 is Kingston
1987 is PNY

you can use this site to see exactly what drives are supported in this specific bios modded for your motherboard.

and see if you can get you hand on one of those eleven drives listed above.

goodluck, i m going for my breakfast. i promised myself not to do tech support before breakfast, 20 years ago. just broke that rule, not good.

I should immediately point out that the NVMe SSD BIOS_MOD Files are Updated as "pure Bios Files" without the Need for Additional Hardware and Software such as DUET, Clover and REFIND.
No Additional Hardware or Software is required.
All you need to do is to update the motherboard bios again and insert your purchased or have nvme ssd drive and install the operating system as "BOOTABLE" bootable.
The content here has taken into account the BIOS Files,
"@Regeneration" for your contribution.
All Files Have Been Backed Up.

The BIOS MOD Files published here do not contain the Universal Module.
Because each X58 model motherboard needs to be added one by one NVMe_Module.
For this, you need to provide the X58 motherboard model and NVMe SSD Device hardware IDs you are using.
For example: PCI/VEN_144D&DEV_A809 it should be something like this.

All Bios Files Dates Reorganized to 2022 and revision numbers are upgraded.

This content will be a Guide for X58/1366 Socket Motherboard Users and I think we will continue to use these amazing motherboards for a while.
I hope it will be a useful topic.
I will try to respond to bios file requests as much as possible..
As of now, BIOS_MOD has been implemented on some motherboards.
Here, I will also present the motherboard models that I have received and have had successful results in TEST processes.
This content is extensible, open to different ideas and applications.
If I give an example from myself;
Although some Gaming Applications do not allow X58/1366 pin Motherboards, they are still useful and stable systems in my opinion.
You can request Nvme SSD bios mod for every Brand and Model X58 Motherboard you use.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
I Completed All NVMe SSD BIOS MOD files for X58/1366 Socket Motherboard..
My Recent Works Are Below.
This Project Has Been Successfully Completed.
I hope this thread will benefit many X58 Users.
All BIOS MOD Files Published Here is a great work that I have created with my own great effort/patience and dedication.
My own special software has been used in bios file modification processes.
What others have said for "AWARD" bios modding;
"Sensitive modules cannot be changed"
The claim has been refuted with real evidence in this study, asserting the opposite thesis.
In short, AWARD bios or any different bios file can be modded and changed.
Each bios file has been handled one by one, and the bios files with successful results are marked.
The Module I used to support NVMe SSD drives in Bios Files was given as FALSE when it was released.
The NVMe SSD module was corrected by me and successful results were obtained.
Bios files that have not received "TEST OK" confirmation will be updated according to data from users.
See you in many more new projects.

Currently running with :

Xtreme Disk Off
IDE as Native & AHCI
SataExt ON
Sata3 OFF <---- very important (sata 6 7)
Gigabyte extra controller OFF (sata 8 9)

drives on ICH10R : SSD Crucial 500 / DVDRW / 2TB / 2TB / 2x3TB in SOFT raid 1 (windows raid)

Any controller in bios that is set to RAID behaves with a "SCSI" name in the bios boot, and it messes everything, blocking the boot at step 11 after disk list in ICH10 boot.

In case you get stuck at step 11, or blinking cursor, you have to remove the NVMe card, reboot in bios, disable Raid or Sata3, replug nvme.
Be very wary of USB Keys that can boot, i had a few surprises with them, especially depending on which usb port they were plugged in.

It s a bit tricky (old hardware, lots of disk) but in the end, everything runs VERY fine. Next step X5675 and overclocking, that will be another story.

Hi,

I see that I think there will be a problem adding that memory bone I described in the post above.
A huge request in that case, is it possible for someone to do a quest on how to add other SSDs on their own?

Greetings

After I flash this with @bios in Windows 10 and reboot I get a "checksum error" and my system reboots and loads the backup BIOS.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a issue with this file? I read in a previous post that someone else was having the same problem.

before making any conclusions, try to flash it properly with the flashspi.exe and a FreeDos usb stick generated with rufus.
your board is listed tested, if you check the 18 pages you ll eventually find the person who had success with this bios and maybe he ll be able to help.
also i advice to have the same "unmodded" version before flashing the modded one, check if your current bios is up to date.

FLASHSPI and Q-FLASH won’t flash it. They say it’s corrupt. They flash F5C from Gigabyte’s site just fine.

I've tried extracting the download with 7z, 64-bit WinRAR, and 32-Bit WinRAR all with the same "!!! Bad BIOS Image !!!" result while using a MS-DOS and FreeDOS boot USB made with Rufus.

I've also tried all 3 extractions with Q-Flash and it says "Invalid BIOS Image!".

Any idea if my NVMe model is already included or not? Hate to be trying to flash this for nothing if it’s not.

Is there a alternative download link? My only idea is google must have corrupted it.

i dont see the crucial 540A no. Try to contact the user who validated the X58 USB3 in this thread maybe.

Just a interesting note to add.

I tried some of the other modded Gigabyte X58 BIOS's posted here just to see what they'd do and they show up as "BIOS ID check error" vs the "Invalid BIOS Image" that the correct one for GA-X58-USB3 shows up as in Q-Flash.

@İsmailTPC_Hastanesi I'm at a loss here.

That one flashes but it's from 2018 and appears to not add anything new...

Looking at the file in Award Bios Editor it looks no different than OEM to me.

C0A9 on line 26 there is Micron NVMe Controller...

I doubt Ismail will come back in the forum, it would be a huge mistake (instant flood of his mailbox)
To what i gather :
He had this motherboard, so it s "tested valid"
Another user had the same problem than you did
Ismail asked this user to try the original modified bios by... sigh.... the meltdown fix thing
The user never reported anything back

there.

i guess Ismail made a mistake, maybe he had a special USB3 version of the motherboard, or messed up when publishing the bios

fastest way : contact the other user that had the same problem than you and see if he managed to get a solution.

globally, to all people reading this thread

- first check your motherboard appears with a "tested" tag. Then realize that it s been tested ONCE maybe and that it s not a 100% guaranteed thing.
- second, if you can get the good tool (MMTOOL or CBROM or any other bios module disassembler tool) check that the modded bios has your nvme listed in the option roms
- third, to maximize your chances of success, try using the flashtool provided. take a hour or two, and read the 18 pages of discussion.
- fourth, again, it s not exact science.

- fifth : do not count on Ismail to help you, he made it very clear that he will not. What he did is great, but it s pandora box. He cannot, NO ONE CAN, add specifically each and every nvme drive that exists on earth.

----> Looking for a safe way to disassemble bios mods, remove the nvme option roms, and add the correct ones IS the way to go. I dont know how to do it. Some people might know how to do it. I dont know where those people are. That's a quest. There's a reward. There's also a cheat mode : buy more recent hardware.

I'm done helping. I dont have the time. Goodluck to all reading this thread.

Edit : well i guess between the step "biod modded for meltdown and newer cpu" and the step "add nvme opt rom" something went wrong for the GA-X58-USB3. You dont publish nearly 100 modded bios without making a mistake or two. It fell down on you and it did not on me, could have been the other way round, that s luck, and bad luck. Sorry about that. As i said, someone might be able somewhere to correct this. Might be faster to just purshase a UD7 on ebay (even though they re quite expensive. One sold at 65$ recently though.)

I have Ga-X58-USB3 and I have the same
It is fair to say, that my board doesn't work correct. (Sometimes bios freeze if I look for memory section)
Maybe modded bios is corrupt, maybe our boards are

Maybe if someone else gave the message about X53-USB3.....

In any case Ismail has respect for his work
For the common user (for me) it looks like a space travel :)

Hello all,

I have a P6X58D Premium mb. I did run the modded bios so that i can run natively m.2 nvmes. I did this and it worked well. But, what i want everyone to know is that the modded bios was listed to work with the Samsung 970. But, i now have it working for the Samsung 980 and Samsung Pro 980 m.2 nvme. I was running windows 10 and did have issues with my Radeon graphics program not wanting to upgrade. I also had issues upgrading windows from the 1703 build to the lastest 22H2 windows build. To over come these issues i used Windows Update Assistance. This fixed everything and now all upgraded and working. I hope this helps.

Don't use clover or Any boot using USB. Windows updates will eventually kill it. This happened to me.

Hey, i also got my P6x58d premium mb to work with the Samsung pro 980.

Hey guys !

I was able to solve my problem and now I am able to restart from windows without any issue with my NVME modded bios.
What I have had to do was to use a different NVME Option ROM to mod my bios.

For a quick summary, there are two nvme oprom that you can use :

- VMware OpRom as can be found here with the download link there
- Samsung 950 OpRom as can be found here with the download link there. A shrunk version taking less space and working idendically has been made by someone on a russian forum. Download link there.

You can actually use the samsung 950 OpRom to boot any NVME devices, not specially this samung one. That's what I used for my Crucial P1 1TB. This OpRom has the advantage of not having the bug when rebooting. If you want to mod your bios yourself, I'd suggest following this guide from eierhals. Personnally, I used the "MMTool way" and it worked perfectly. All Bios files can be found in this forum.

If someone is interested, here's a link to download the modded bios I've made for Asus Rampage 2 Extreme motherboard with a Crucial P1 1TB NVME drive.

Ciao !
Hi , thanks for you have post this solution . You have permise the solve my problem with the asus sabertooth x58 and crucial P3 1Tb CT1000P3SSD8
with Oprom and MMTool .

Thank you for summing up the researches and giving it to all those that might need it. That reminds me of why internet was created :)

Hi all- first of all, amazing work, İsmailTPC_Hastanesi!

I admit I got overly excited and ordered the drive prematurely before realizing that the mod has per-device compatibility. So, I'm hoping there's still a chance someone can help me modify the BIOS for my board to make this work.

For some reason my nvme drive shows up as SCSI, but in the "parent" field it shows the PCI ven and dev IDs. I think this is still the correct info, as googling these IDs shows results for my drive type.

Mobo: Asus P6X58D Premium
SSD: WD_Black SN850X 2000GB
IDs: PCI\VEN_15B7&DEV_5030
Original Bios link: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/...8D-PREMIUM-ASUS-1501.zip?model=p6x58d premium

I'd greatly appreciate a mod for this mobo to include this drive! I'd also be open to trying to mod the hardware IDs myself but there wasn't much info in this thread on how to do it.

Okay, i have the exact same mb and modded my bios np. But, you cant just use any m.2 nvme. The one you are ordering will not work. Cancel the order and instead order the Samsung 970 or 980 these will work I've tried both

So i am not sure did you modify the bios yet?

BIOS not modded yet. After reviewing this whole thread, it looks like the HW IDs I quoted were not added to one of the BIOSes for the mobo we own yet. I already have the new nvme device in-hand. Again it was my bad for jumping the gun on buying the device before reading the whole thread fully and also being a few months late to the party here after Ishmael stopped taking requests to mod more bios variants, but I will hope that someone who can still mod it will return. If Ishmael or hnxphong come back, or someone else who is competent in bios modding, it would be awesome.

I'm also open to learning how to implement this mod as well but don't know where to start since this thread didn't include a "how to" for BIOS modding on x58. Not to sound ungrateful of course for the awesome work Ishmael did though!

Worst case, I figure I can use DUET to boot my system using the new drive which will still give my aging 256GB sata hdd a job as a bootloader drive.
