The truth is it has Nvidia in the name, all of us here in this thread, or even watching youtubers, are a very very NICHE crowd. Vast majority of gamers will still buy this card, because to them Nvidia represents stability and has for ages, or they will ask their mom for it for their bday, cause its midrange and the most they can ask for, etc.

I think this reason alone is why Nvidia knows they can play the "Apple" marketing game with vram size, bus size, etc. It is true, AMD/Ati hurt their own reputation many years ago with stability issues, and word of mouth and vast majority of cards still being Nvidia on Steam Survey prove this, it will take another decade before Nvidia actually has to correct its actions on maximizing profit as Apple does, maybe never, since a set fanbase is loyal enough, they will buy anything no matter what associated with said brand name, regardless of competition.

Also, inflation is a thing.

Honestly I think even the 7900 XT at $799 is insane value for what you get. Considering its same MSRP as an aftermarket 1080 ti from several years ago, and the frames it gives you at 1440p/4k is crazy.

I think these are the last things I want to say... farewell

Probably even $50, i.e. less than one AAA game

Considering the market range at which it’s aimed at, $75 is a huge discount off the released cost and would make a huge difference for someone building in the low-mid range pc market.

While the current market reality is horrible for GPUs, it’s the absolute truth that you get significantly less for the money you’re spending now. The 4060ti also serves as a major disappointment in the same regard. The best of a worse case situation doesn’t make it a good product.

After reading the review I expected to see a "meh" award.
But nope. Can't say I understand. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The answer the one thing I want my 2-year old daughter to learn about social media algorithms
She a bit too young for any of that.

Maybe it's just me, but I find a lot of your replies in this thread to be odd. Maybe lack of sleep from reviewing.

You know, you are actually not wrong, on the other hand this applies to everything in life? (that's why I replaced $400 with $x in your quote)
We are talking about computer hardware, where there are plenty of sites and channels out there making reviews and comparisons. While I can find a review where 50 GPUs are tested in various of games, I can't find a review of 50 refrigerators tested under various conditions. That doesn't make buyers experts in buying video cards, but it does make it easier for someone to explain that there is a pricing and performance stagnation problem in the current mid range GPU market. Pointing at the positives of the card and there are plenty thanks to Ada, while also pointing at it's weaknesses, which in my opinion are significant and I am not the only one with that opinion, based of what I am reading/watching online, I believe it would have been better. I understand that reviewers need to feel free to post their thoughts, but they also have to be looking things from the consumer perspective. The above conclusion isn't, in my opinion, looking things from the consumer perspective. It just says "accept the current reality and pay for an even worst future".
That's my opinion.

P.S. People where waiting for the mining craze to go away, so they can get a nice GPU with reasonable specs at a reasonable price. Seeing Nvidia taking advantage of the competition failing this time, doesn't make them happy. Reading reviews that try to justify the current situation, wouldn't make them happy.

This makes existing graphics cards like the AMD RX6700XT and RX6750XT look good. How awful do you want a launch to be? Didn't they learn from the RTX 4080 failure? They better rebrand the whole range to RTX 5000 series and fix their prices and hierarchy tiers.

And that 8GB, sad times.

And WHY is this 'highly recommend'?

Not really. 4060TI is a shitshow all around. Just look at the history: GTX 960 5% slower than 680... 1060 again 5% behind 980... 2060 on pair with 1080,... 3060TI equals 2080S.
Now look at the 4060TI. It's hardly beating 3060TI. It should cost 249$ max, maybe $299 adjusted for inflation. Again. 4060TI is Jensen spitting in average PC gamer's face, calling us peasants, unworthy of owning decent GPU for our hard earned money. The only way to show him middle finger is tearing him a new one like HardwareUnboxed and GamersNexus did in their reviews and recommending gamers to let 3060TIs rot on shelves until price drops bellow 250 bucks.

No wonder Nvidia wanted reviewers to focus on DLSS 3, because a $400 USD card that expects you to turn down settings at 1080p in recently released titles at launch is frankly ridiculous.

That "Highly Recommended" seems superfluous at this point.

Off topic but - when my kids were 2 year olds they used a mickymouse trackball and it was much easier for them. Now there is a similar product - BIGtrack Kids Trackball but it's $80

While there is no price increase over the RTX 3060 Ti launch price, the performance improvement is only 12%
LOL look at that amazing progress from Ngreedia:

1684872472271.png

You mean I can pay next gen prices for less than last gen performance? What a deal!!!

I've never seen such a garbage release of GPUs that is literally a free advertisement for the competition. Here in the UK, the AMD cards are constantly selling out -- even above MSRP over 2 years later (asking for £600+ for an RX 6800 non-XT is insane). Meanwhile, the latest RTX 4070s are sitting in warehouses collecting dust at basically every retailer since launch. Compare that to past launches when I worked at a PC part retailer, when we sold nothing but 70 class cards like the GTX 970s for the first 3+ months after launch and they'd make up half of our monthly GPU sales, this is beyond embarrassing for Nvidia.

AMD doesn't even need to release anything at this point -- just keep the last gen 6000 series cards in production and stocked.

It's a more energy efficient overclocked 3060ti sometimes matching or overtaking the 3070????? What is the point of this product? And as the others have mentioned, "highly recommended" What?

It's like Nvidia are deliberately gimping their 60's series line to make the more expensive line look "better" .... They did that already with the rtx 3050.

The RTX 5070 better watch out in a couple of years.

The 4060 is going to be laughably slow, not a surprise since I suspect it was meant to be a 4050 originally most likely.

Absolutely no chance of me buying this.

In the UK from Ebuyer a 3060 TI can be had for £335.

This card will end up being £400+ possibly anything up to £450.

It doesn't make any sense to buy this card. In reality it should be £200.

It's no wonder the gtx 1650 is still the most popular card on steam. It was £170 new.

if you actually do care this much about a gpu's vram size, you really need to re-evaluate your life, ask yourself what is happiness, and meditate on the Cosmos
It's a tech forum. I find it absurd that a person with over 13K posts here tries to shield a bad product and ridicule the members posting well-deserved criticism toward a rebranded GPU that historically represented one tier lower.

Problem here is Nvidia not getting honest feedback about how poor value the products they're putting out are. Echo chamber?

Covid was an exceptional event, ultra expensive cards were viable then as rest of the economy was shut and cheques.

4060 Ti is a turkey and should be called out as such at $400.

In a normal or worse economic environment, it'll gather dust...
