It's a 4050 that barely beats a 3060 Ti for a 4060 Ti price. While the 3060 Ti beat the 2080 Super at 4K. Stagnation, thy name is Nvidia.

On average it is only 8% faster than the 3060 Ti. Thanks Nvidia, we can buy a cheaper 3060 Ti and overclock to make up for the difference. This card has no advantages other than DLSS 3.0. TRASH in short.

I agree that this should be a 4050, but even the 3050 failed to consistently match the "vanilla" 2060.

This 4060Ti is really trying in my opinion since it's in a higher volume price range.
You are right, but Turing was a rare a family with a beast of 754mm² (2060 has the same size than TitanXP). A architecture divided into two parts, 2060-2080Ti and 1630-1660Ti. There are two x60. The 2060 & 1660 and 1660Ti, and only one x60Ti ,XD.
3050 beats 1660Ti.

But that is true, the 3050 does not reach the performance of the 2060. Lovelace has very high frec (& consumption for such a small chip), it's an overclocked chip, this help it get it.

P.D: 1650 neither outperform the 1060, you need the 1650 Super
1050 neither outperform the 960, you need the 1050 Ti

I'm removing the Recommended award for now and will explore options how to restructure our awards. Good night everyone
Wise. 4060Ti 8GB is one of the most problematic cards in recent years due to poor generational uplift over 3060Ti, uninspiring hardware and bad value for buck considering other, older GPUs on the market. The value of all positives mentioned, such as efficiency, software perks, design, 5nm, etc. is there, but those positives are lost when Nvidia cannot make basic hardware right for the price they want to charge for it. Gone are the times when aggressive marketing of software perks, such as DLSS, was an effective selling point, driving away buyers' attention from hardware.

Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus knocked the card down hard and deconstructed it completely. This included extensive reasoning in their videos... As Steve put it, paraphrasing, the only 4060Ti that should ever have been released is 16GB model, for ~$350. Additional 8GB is not worth $100, let alone $500 for entire card.

My impression is that tech community is sending a clear message to AMD and Nvidia that this must be the last 60 class generation with 8GB of VRAM and small gen-to-gen uplift in performance. It's time to move on after many years on 8GB, and game developers are tired of it too, forcing them to continue to optimize for 8GB when consoles from three years ago use 12GB. It feels like a major shift and modernisation of hardware needs to happen next year.

If Nvidia wants to charge a premium over AMD, they need to provide more VRAM, better video ports and more enabled cores on dies. Software perks alone are not worth this premium and increasing number of tech savvy buyers have realised this. It's easy to quickly check stuff and compare over internet nowadays like never before. Also, it cannot be the case that they skip DP 2.1 ports that cost $2 and still charge over $1,000 for high-end cards with seven years old video ports.

5050 - (160-bit) - 10GB; Ti (192-bit) - 12GB
5060 - (192-bit) - 12GB; Ti (256-bit) - 16GB
5070 - (256-bit) - 16GB; Ti (320-bit) - 20GB
5080 - (384-bit) - 24GB; Ti (448-bit) - 28GB
5090 - (448-bit) - 28GB; Ti (512-bit) - 32GB

This bodes very badly for the vanilla 4060, which is heavily cut-down from the 4060Ti.

The only good thing the 4060 might have going for it is power-efficiency....

The RTX 4060 is probably between the 3060 and 3060 Ti.

If AMD had any brains int heir collective, they'd release the 8GB 7600xt at $250 just to rub it in nvidia's face and bring a proper budget GPU to market.

They wont, but it would be nice if they did.

At first, for 150 watt, even lower than power consumption than 2060 and 3060 Ti with 2080 Ti level performance, it didn't look so bad.

But, considering the fact that usually the xx60's performance was in between last gen xx70 Ti and xx80 non Ti level, this is just plain lazy and uninspiring.
The 4060 Ti is not even an upgrade compared to 3060 Ti for $400.
This should be 4050 Ti, and priced $200-250 instead.

What a timeline for PC gaming.......

Words are cheap when your GPU is GTX 1070. This is a tech forum.

My ASUS TUF RTX 4090 OC and ASUS Crosshair X670E Hero. PS; Due to warranty reasons, I restored NVIDIA's 12VHPWR cable adapter over the CableMod adapter.

This gaming PC doubles as Blender 3D workstation.

Last I checked, 1070 is tech. To claim someone on a tech form is "less techie" than someone else simply because of the hardware they have is absurd.

That out of the way - as I've been check out other reviews of the 4060Ti and reading posts about them, it seems like it's unanimous that this is a turd of a card at the price point. Should Nvidia come out right away and shave off $50 it could be a touch more enticing for folks looking for a new card in this performance range. Nvidia needs to give people a reason to keep looking at them at this price point instead of giving AMD's 6700XT/6750XT cards a time to shine simply due to similar performance + more VRAM.

I agree because the kind of people that buy a 4080 do no put the same kind of attention to price than the ones who buy a $400 gpu.

Samsung GDDR6W has 64-bit I/O data pins which is a major evolution over GDDR6 / GDDR6X's 32-bit I/O data pins.

Four GDDR6 128-bit evolved into four GDDR6W 256-bit bus.

Six GDDR6 192-bit evolved into six GDDR6W 384-bit bus.

Eight GDDR6 256-bit evolved into eight GDDR6W 512-bit bus.

Twelve GDDR6 384-bit evolved into twelve GDDR6W 768-bit bus.

Remember, Apple's Mac Studio (M1 Ultra) delivers 128 GB RAM with 800 GB/s memory bandwidth via the on-chip package LPDDR5. Apple effectively told HBM vendors to fukoff.

GDDR6W chip has twice the density and twice the bandwidth.

Future PC GPUs must substantially increase VRAM storage when Apple fixes its GPU. PS5 and XSX ~12 GB to ~13 GB VRAM storage already left the $399 priced NVIDIA RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB GPU for dead.

AMD and Intel need to cooperate when AMD's Epyc Zen 4's 786-bit bus with DDR5-4800 only has 480 GB/s memory bandwidth while the Apple competition racing ahead. AMD's recent TSMC 4 nm-based memory controllers on mobile "Phoenix" APUs can reach DDR5-7500.

AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, Samsung, Hynix, and Micron need to cooperate on the overall PC platform's direction and adapt to the Apple competition.

For future game consoles, AMD may need to take over the memory tech direction like Apple's M1 Ultra SoC when Samsung, Hynix, and Micron are lazy buggers.

1. Bruh chill out and grab a beer man.

2. Poor LMAO.
I don't support NVIDIA's mid-range GPU stagnation.

The blame is also on Samsung, Hynix, and Micron.

I finally got around to check a couple of other reviews... yeah yeah the usual suspects GN, HU, etc. Surprisingly PCWORLDs at it too. Glad everyones on the same page!

Sick and tired of these RIP off prices and down-south gimped performance tiers. Nothing but a big fat ROCK on the graphical progression road map and SLAP on the budget gamers face! I recall some of us agreeing the extortionate 4080/4090 MSRP at launch would trickle down and ambush the lower tiered segments into ruin. So the inflated price isn't the biggest shock for me (although a massive offender) but its whats on offer for the price that is absolutely bizarre.

Comparing the 4060 TI to the head of the family - how the fukashimo is the 4090 almost a 100% faster in pure raster perf? At 1440p, 130% faster. At 4K 170%. The 4080 shares similar broader performance disparities. Just 2 more layers down and Nvidia has given "GIMPED" a brand new meaning: "hacked to pieces". . In the grand scheme of things, the 4060 TI is a crumb compared to the 4080/4090.

A common description amongst various reviewers - "You may need to reduce quality settings at 1080p in some of the newer titles". REALLY? DISGRACEFUL!!!

I agree this is pathetic at 400 usd.
$299 4060, $350 4060 Ti 8GB, and $400-420 4060 Ti 16GB would of probably been the more realistic price point of still charging a premium/not looking weak to investors but still being somewhat worth buying

I could buy a 4090 right now if I wanted, its not on my radar at the moment, I am enjoying my steam deck and a love for older games at the moment. Most likely I will get a 7900 XTX, but I am considering waiting for 7950 XTX. It's not that hard to get a second part time job on weekends though or evenings, would only take about 2-3 months of doing that to buy a 4090, maybe less. Don't have to do the part time job forever, I know not all countries are like the USA, but it is very easy to get a part time job in USA at the moment. I recently sold my 6800 XT, because I do actually intend to get my dream high end gpu either this year or next year, just using a budget card/backup card in the 1070 in the mean time.

Not looking to make an enemy out of you mate, I hope we can let the past be past and be civil with each other. We are here because we all share the same passion for a hobby of pc building, tech, and gaming. Let's focus on that. :toast:

Well, my mortgage is paid off and RTX 4090 is less than a 1-week salary, but I'm mindful of the less well-off PC gamers in the PC community and I still remember the "struggle street" situation.

Gen Z or late Gen Y entering the housing market is brutal. I entered the housing market in the early 2000s, before the building boom.

Would be interesting to see RE4 remake with these 8GB cards though. It's a one damn VRAM hog.

yeah, I am aware most countries you can't just go get a part time job for a few months and buy something you really want. I did not mean to seem demeaning to them, that was my fault and I do apologize.

W1zz said his pricing is based on USA prices for how he does reviews, and so my mind is still centered around that when it comes to this conversation.

Not even close bud.
Not close to what ? I basically said 20% reduction in price would of been more logical to the consumer while not looking weak to investors.

That's not really a "not even close bud" statement ? (Literally nobody disagrees that these cards are overpriced)
