Thats an unusual combination for a pic but still, welcome to the club!

I've been using my 12100F since 2022 february or so and its been a very positive experience for me and it still does everything I need it for.
Arguably still the best budget offering on the market imo.

I might upgrade to a Raptor lake refresh locked i5 at some point but right now I can't justify any CPU upgrade since non of the games I'm playing needs it. 'In most new-ish games I'm GPU bound anyway'

ADL cores are significantly faster than SKL.

An ADL quadcore is equivalent/faster than a SKL hexacore, even at a 400 MHz disadvantage. Very slightly slower in multi thread, but significantly faster in ST, which is much more relevant.

And at the price on offer, it's a very compelling quad-core as well. It's even a solid gaming CPU if the user intends to game at 1080p, which most people still are. A very wise purchase for someone who doesn't need the raw power higher tier models provide.

This arrived a short time ago from Japan. 100% genuine new and unopened until I opened it up. $139 + $1.34 express shipping off Ebay. It left Japan last Thursday and I got it shortly after noon today. I've seen these selling used for over $800. Currently $420 on Amazon for just the main audio card not including the 7.1 daughterboard this comes with. I'll install it later today and see what my money bought.

Change of plans because the Lenovo ePrivacy screen is so bad it's a dealbreaker even when disabled...

Picked up the last Zenbook S 13 OLED in stock. 6800U, 16GB LPDDR5-6400, 1TB NVMe. What a difference. What a POS the X13 is, to be the same price.

Test the thermals, Zenbooks are notorious for sacrificing cooling to keep weight down.

It's fine. Both X13 and UM5302 do about 20W sustained when plugged in. On battery both draw much less power as expected. It's Rembrandt-U; it's not my daily gaming system. After you have experienced XPS 13 and 15, nothing from Ryzen can dethrone those throttle champions.

The X13 does keep all of its 680M performance on battery while the Zenbook loses a bit, but it doesn't matter. The OLED on the UM5302 is stunning; the IPS on the X13 is bad enough to pass for TN. Build quality on the Zenbook is about comparable to my XPS 13; build quality on the X13 is about on the level of an Ideapad. Both are the exact same price after factoring in the immediate battery upgrade the X13 needs to get shed its 41Wh pack.

We had been using Latitudes and ThinkPads before; needless to say, we are still getting them.

according to userbenchmark it's only 15% faster (though i have heard people saying it's not reliable source but that's mainly for amd stuff) as both cpus in question are intel i can probably trust that

I did use similar or same FullHD tv as my computer display in early 2010's. Panel in my "TV" was IPS as viewing angles were good. Also had lot color depth options in videocard's control panel.

Overclocking results were not good. Only 65Hz from 60Hz. 66Hz and over would crash display sometimes. Also factory calibration was probably not done or done someone who liked really red picture. This was fixable from service menu as default menu was not enough.

You cant use userbenchmark for anything other than as insight to mental illness.

Seriously, don't. You can google why, especially for anything AMD - the sites metrics are based on the owners madness and how much profit they get from affiliate links, theres been times i3's outperformed i9's on there
