Got a new cover for my Kindle (fake leather), the sort with magnets so it turns on and off just opening and closing.

Now my Wife tells me it is 'girly'; ruined the whole project!

I've had no issues with certified cables, however, there's no requirement to be certified to sell USB cables, so maybe that's what you've run into. I've got several "charging" cables that only do USB 2.0 for data, but all the decent cables I've bought have no issues. Maybe give Lindy a go? They have 20 Gbps certified cables.
Cables for USB support are like playing slots in Vegas. I have had 2 that came with the product not work and then got cables from the local PC store and magically they work. It is like PCIe add in cards SATA and USB not every one would work but it think it was Vantec that were rock solid in that regard.

My LG C1 I got mid-2021 and its remote has the shaking-to-pointer. Who knows if it is region-based, though.

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
It's Canadian $, so that 1,499 should be about €1,000.

I get your pain with the C to C cables. I've just got the second one from amazon that's not working with my nvme enclosure, so I'll have to get a third one as well.
ohhh in Ca$, i did not notice

ah no, when i mean i have issues, it's because i ordered another bike lock, not the C to C cable ... i took the Otterbox cable to reach free shipping amount (since it was discounted at 9chf and shipping is 9chf i prefer free shipping and one extra than paying for shipping fees  )

the lock in question
1688243844003.png

a chain lock is actually more practical to put in the saddlebag than the folding one, folding are compact only when used with the frame holder and i have no places on the frame for such usage.

it seem a combination of a Abus 6KS90 chain and a Abus Aquasafe 70IB50 padlock (chain are harder to attack than bolted folding lock )

i might be starting a lock collection then .... (joking the unused one will probably be donated to friends who need them ;) )

I got a Fanxiang S660, which is one of the cheaper 2TB PCIe 4.0 drives. It was $75 and comes with an optional heatsink and an M.2 mounting screw.

Synthetic performance looks good. It claims 4800MB/s read and 4200MB/s write.

20230701_163949.jpg

It's a DRAM-less drive with a Maxio MAP1602 controller and 128-layer TLC NAND from YMTC.

Endurance is rated at 1400TBW, which is one of the better ratings I've seen.

Cloning my Windows install was annoying since Macrium repair didn't work. After messing around in CMD, I was able to fix it with DISM.

I plan on dual-booting Linux Mint alongside Windows now. Just gotta hope it doesn't screw up the Windows install again.

We'll see how this drive performs and holds up. I'm thinking about getting a 2TB S770 for my main PC, which has a DRAM cache and claims to do 7300MB/s read and 6800MB/s write. All for $95.

Never heard of that brand, I'll have a look. Although, my trust in Amazon brands has dropped recently, so maybe I'll order something from a proper PC shop like Scan or Overclockers.
Good thing is not an Amazon brand then. You can still buy their products on Amazon.

I don't know what kind of products you guys are buying, but I've never had a product that doesn't work with the supplied cables. I've also never had a cable I've bought not work and I've bought some fairly cheap ones, but nothing from obviously dodgy brands.
If the cables are USB-IF certified, they should work to their certification level.

The USB-IF actually has a database of certified products that anyone can search, although the public one doesn't list all products for some reason and you have to be a USB-IF member to get full access.

Decided to upgrade the SSD in my laptop.

Looks exactly like the Apcer drive I sent back, which was sold as a 7,400/7,000 MB/s read/write speed drive...
Glad I sent it back, as that was clearly a bait and switch seeing your results.

That said, it looks like a prefectly fine SSD, for a DRAM-less model, but that's not what the Apcer drive was supposed to be.

You'd think Sweden and Norway would be similar in terms of what kind of remote they supply. Maybe because it's a more basic model in the stack they supply a more basic remote? Even though they look identical, except for the Alexa button.

Yeah that’s pretty much identucal AH. but I did just shake it and indeed the cursor does come up. but if “wiggle” the button it does too and unlike the shake I just tried it won’t go away unless you use press the ring around it it disappears and goes back to “normal“. I wish there was a way to disable it entirely. It’s a very annoying function I have no use for at all I coull do was lower the tracking speed but again doesn’t change the initial issue with the button needing perfect precision to just stay a button...
I guess it will just take some practice to press it without moving it to activate the cursor…

Yeah just press it “off centre” and the cursor should come up and the scroll action will also appear on the screen too when in that mode as well.

Every single case that I know comes with the weakest, bottom-of-the-barrel fans that the company has to offer, so it's better to swap them anyway.

Edit: I wish cases came with no fans. I have a drawer full of unused, weak-ass 3-pin case fans that I'm never gonna use.

Every single case that I know comes with the weakest, bottom-of-the-barrel fans that the company has to offer, so it's better to swap them anyway.

Edit: I wish cases came with no fans. I have a drawer full of unused, weak-ass 3-pin case fans that I'm never gonna use.

My Be Quiet Pure base 500 FX came with pretty decent 4 pin pwm fans, one of the better RGB fans on the market supposedly. 'based on TPU's review at least'
Other than those I've slapped 2x Arctic P12s on the top as exhaust and called it a day. 'completely overkill for my system but I don't like empty fan mounts '

Sure this is like the most expensive case I've ever bought but I guess it will serve me for a very long time and it was good to go out of the box.:)

Nothing worse than buying a case that comes with 1/4 of the fan slots filled, and they're propitary so you can't buy those same fans even at stores that sold the case to you
So many RGB fans do this, making them utterly useless when you need to buy in packs of 3 to get controllers for them, etc

Oh good 9 new fans for the 8 my case takes, with 2 that come out for the bin

The Cooler Master 500 Mesh with 2 200MM fans that are 4 pin PWM and regular ARGB are pretty good at moving air.

Back in the day before 4pin PWM you could find decent 3pin fans that did start on 5 ish volts giving you over 50% range.

Decided to upgrade the SSD in my laptop.

I got a Fanxiang S660, which is one of the cheaper 2TB PCIe 4.0 drives. It was $75 and comes with an optional heatsink and an M.2 mounting screw.

View attachment 303136View attachment 303137

Synthetic performance looks good. It claims 4800MB/s read and 4200MB/s write.

2TB drives about all have that TBW 1,2PB++

Then there is some in that size which have 2.5PB and even over 4PB

Year 2020 model Transcend MTE220S comes with 4,4PB, 3500/2700, DRAM, SM2262EN controller, 5y warranty. Priced at 100eur including taxes. Sure there is lots of other models too with about 7000/7000 and under 120eur for 2TB still. Anyway, 75$ if including taxes what ever, is totally different price. :)

QLC is is the one with low TBWs usually. QLC is like rust in cars, none wants it.

Twice today I've been ready to declare ownership 32GB of Samsung B-Die. Ebay has apparently decided auction ending times and bids are irrelevant to the power of whimsy and frivolous reporting their outcomes. The timer ticks down to zero and you have the winning bid??? Today that apparently means there are 2.75 hours remaining and any future attempts to influence the outcome are for naught.

I haz a sad

My father had the 25th and 30th Anniversary Camaro SS’s I only got to drive the 25th once. NOBODY drove the 30th but him. He did do a dyno pull on it I used to have the vid many formats ago I believe it pulled 410 at the wheels if I recall. That would have been the LT1 engine
