windowsreport.com Win11 LTSC article is wrong!, eidairaman1

here's the RIGHT info about the upcoming Win11 LTSC release, direct from the horse's mouth (from MS):

In our last Windows client roadmap update blog, we announced that Windows 10, version 22H2 would be the final version of Windows 10. It will reach end of support on October 14, 2025 for all editions of that version. We also announced that there would be a Windows 11-based Long- Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) release in the second half of 2024.

Windows 11 LTSC

It's important for organizations to have adequate time to plan for adopting Windows 11. Today we're announcing that the next Windows LTSC releases will be available in the second half of 2024

So, i'm on 2023-2 KB5022845 update now, should i apply the 2023-7 KB5028185 ?

In French !
No! Wait a few months.

NO! NO! NO!
Oi! Chill! There is no need for that kind of aggression with other users! Getting pissy with microsoft for something stupid they've done is ok and even encouraged in this thread. But not with other users of the forums. Please keep things civilized and cool going forward.

Its an old article, till then use enterprise/pro with Windows update turned off and use powershell to install only necessary updates.
True, and since that article was posted, microsoft has updated their roadmap for Win11 LTSC. It seems that late 2024 is the timeline.

To be fair, he could have been more unpleasant. I see that as a nice way of being somewhat snarky.

OK so... I just had a thought. I now looked up but both WiN10/11 have the same DirectX Version. Question is how long until developers move on from 12 or just don't support 10/11 no more

DX12 is old, Ultimate is more recent, decs apparently have hard time with DX12, uncompetant or else.

DX13 could be needed, DX11 is well on devs side and render.

uncompetant or else.
Nah. Low level languages just are tough. You could say incompetent but it's more there are very few at that level. DX12/Vulkan is low level, DX11/OpenGL high level.

It'll be a long time. DX10 is still a very useful API and it is very well understood. Same with DX11. Hell, up until recently DX9c was still actively being developed for. It's gonna be a while.

DX12 is old
No, DX9c is old. DX10 is still considered usable, DX11 is very much still mainstream and DX12 is still modern.

DX12/Vulkan is low level, DX11/OpenGL high level.
This.

And by "Low-Level" RTB means the API addresses and accesses the rendering functionality of the hardware directly. By "High-Level" he means that the API addresses and accesses rendering functionality through an OS based hardware interpreter.

EDIT: spelling correction..

Ya know, I hardly ever see DX10 games. It always seems to be DX9 or DX11.

Up until recently I thought they didn't have a DX10. Stranger things have happened.

TBF, i use W11 for my gaming PC, it's : ON / lauch game, play / OFF.

But i keep W10 for the PC i use a lot explorer (web...), bc that's not that good on W11... interface, but if your tasks can take advantage on W11, go.

That depends. Have you given 11 a solid run yet(on a spare drive or system)? Personal preference is a thing. Try it first before making the switch. I personally like 11 a lot and will never go back to 10 for any reason. Yet some users have expressed they liked 10 better.

Ya know, I hardly ever see DX10 games. It always seems to be DX9 or DX11.
Parts of DX10 are still used in DX9c games as the libraries were dynamically interchangeable. So some DX9c games had elements of DX10 and DX11 worked the same way.

Hi everyone, I got a new work laptop recently, a 13th gen Intel touchscreen (was a big upgrade over my Intel 8th gen touchscreen). Both have a keyboard, touchpad, and touchscreen. Everything works great on both, however, on the 8th gen Intel Windows 11 - I was able to to touchscreen in game, like Magic the Gathering Arena to play cards and stuff, but on this new laptop also Windows 11, I am only able to use touchscreen when not in game, such as web browsing, Win 11 settings menus, etc.

Is there a setting in Windows 11 to help me fix this? I looked a lot, but can not find anything.

EDIT: nevermind on this issue with the touchscreen, I figured it out, its a specific issue that only effects magic the gathering arena. it works just fine in other games. RIP me for only ever playing magic arena haha

Man, that sucks. I feel for you. Can you still use the old system? Will your boss let you buy it?

magic arena had an update that disabled touchscreen on non-phone devices, i was just so used to playing on my old 8th gen intel work laptop with touchscreen i did not realize this until now.

it's a problem many are complaining about, my new laptop touchscreen works fine in any other game i try. no worries. very happy. :)
