Your the one on a public forum telling people what to spend their hard earn money on.... Guess what it's none yo business.

I'm not telling people what to spend their money on, I'm pointing out the problem with encouraging predatory monetization. This is a public forum and elaborating on one's points is a critical part of constructive conversation.

Your last two comments have been deflection instead of discussion, if you don't want to respond to my comments then don't. Ignore them.

My buddy had 3-4 of them they where so obnoxiously loud. I feel like that was 13-14 years ago lol

They are kind of loud by modern HDD standards, but nothing too absurd imo

I think it’s because of the ARC.

That's kind of a bummer. Game is super fun so far, but I feel like it's not in the best technical shape just yet. In New Atlantis, during sunrise, my fps actually dips below 70 and the GPU seems so unbothered by it that the fans turn off. It's kind of scary how CPU limited the game is, and that's on a i9-13900KS(!)... I'm starting to think the 32 GB of RAM isn't enough either as I have around 28 GB committed and 2.7 GB compressed

Well it's not like we've got much in the way of morality here. I mean, AMD literally bribed Bethesda for them to use their own tech! lol

It's funny but I bought 6 of these drives brand new unused last month, lol. It's more for vanity than anything else, I got plenty of SSDs here ;)

Did it occur to you that you are the only one buying them LOL

Wish my free StarField from the 7900xtx should show up. Any day now.

Arc A770 spotted. There's your problem. I also tried and found it wouldn't launch.

guess I'll just go back to easy 3dmark scores :p

If I had a 13900KS I'd also be digging up easy 3DMark scores...
They are all gone. Rich overclockers bought all new stock to test for the best ones and then chuck them second hand for a markup.

Yes, yes... I wanted them as a teenager back when I started high-end computers in 2008, but they were super expensive. Today I see they were expensive for a reason, these still hold if you're talking HDD performance. HDDs simply aren't the optimal medium for modern video games such as this, we know this and accept this fact as enthusiasts, but some people still insist on it - Steam forums were full of people outraged that the game requires an SSD. Just don't worry about it, I am not complaining.

btw, if you want a KS, then just wait for the 14900K in a couple of months. It's the same CPU, same specs, same clocks, etc. - might be binned a little worse on average, but should be a little cheaper to compensate, so it's no big deal

If I had a 13900KS I'd also be digging up easy 3DMark scores...

:D that's probably gonna be kinda hard lol

Interested in knowing how the Vega 56 performs though, the minimum spec if I'm not mistaken is the GTX 1070 Ti which is roughly equivalent to the Vega 56 in perf. I recently got a 1070 Ti as a backup myself, once I get bored I might give it a try

not a single intel card. For shame. Now mind you, this shouldnt prevent the game from running as this list just provides a quick means to configure the game quickly for popular cards, but imo and let me bold it real quick IMO this kind of shows me how invested they are in supporting the 3 manufacturers. (not well at all)

Fail, this could have been one of the greatest games ever created, instead it is one of the greatest flops of all time.

Its sitting at 90% positive reviews on metacritic for both pc and console how is that a flop by any measure?

It's really fun so far and that's from someone who didn't like fallout 4 or Skyrim.

My only negative thing I can say is the performance doesn't seem justified it's about as heavy as CP2077 with RT.

Although I guess we will have to wait for user reviews which are really low for fallout 4.

not a single intel card. For shame. Now mind you, this shouldnt prevent the game from running as this list just provides a quick means to configure the game quickly for popular cards, but imo and let me bold it real quick IMO this kind of shows me how invested they are in supporting the 3 manufacturers. (not well at all)
Yikes. There’s really no excuse for that at all.

Interested in knowing how the Vega 56 performs though, the minimum spec if I'm not mistaken is the GTX 1070 Ti which is roughly equivalent to the Vega 56 in perf.

Correct, they're both quite close. The GTX 1070 Ti only exists because of the Vega 56 dominating the niche between the 1070 and 1080. In an ideal scenario the GTX 1070 Ti is the faster card. But I'm using a fairly spicy Vega 56 that hits a bit harder. I've also got a SATAII SSD to test just to see if that fits their requirements for an SSD still, or if it'll be too slow.

I tried adding the A770 to that list, didn't change anything. I also dumped a D3D12Core.dll from July into the D3D12 folder, and it presents this error:

Its sitting at 90% positive reviews on metacritic for both pc and console how is that a flop by any measure?

It's really fun so far and that's from someone who didn't like fallout 4 or Skyrim.

My only negative thing I can say is the performance doesn't seem justified it's about as heavy as CP2077 with RT.

Although I guess we will have to wait for user reviews which are really low for fallout 4.

Game's almost a wet dream for Bethesda fans such as me,
I'm kind of perplexed why you can't swim though, at least on the first inhabited planet that you come across. Maybe an oversight... but probably fixable with mods if it's intentional.

Same, now im more interested in getting it running when I should be sleeping (or trying to figure out little endian encoding) is there another game that runs this engine?

I mean it's a Bethesda videogame anyone expected anything else I guess will be disappointed. My expectations where low but they've easily been exceeded so far definitely enjoying this a lot more than BGIII.

If Bethesda is to be believed; no. Starfield's engine is entirely unique to Starfield.

Oh this is 100% Creation, it reeks of Creation and I make it my business to know that... but it sure has seen some upgrades since Fallout 76. Major ones at that.

Yeah it at the very least it looks substantial better than Fallout for sure.

But it seems like the Creation engine to me as well.

I don't care about reviews, I care about how much I have seen so far. I guess they wanted fast money and that is it, if they knew how much they could have expanded the game, beyond the simple linear storyline, it would have been an amazing game but that would have taken a lot of time and determination. The first thing would be exploration and then colonization, colonization with all kinds of markets and economics and from that creation of products to explore even further. This could also have been a city/world builder, there are a vast of things that could have been added. Sadly, it failed miserably.

So the game isn't for you cool there are a ton of games I don't like as well.

So I took a peek.

In the game default dir (steam) there is a file called:

Starfield.ini

Which contains the following:

Code:
[General]
uExterior Cell Buffer=36
sGPUDefaultQualitySettingsJSON=DefaultGlobalGraphicsSettings.json

When looking at "DefaultGlobalGraphicsSettings.json" you get the following predetermined graphics list. (to auto match cards to a fidelity level)

Code:

not a single intel card. For shame. Now mind you, this shouldnt prevent the game from running as this list just provides a quick means to configure the game quickly for popular cards, but imo and let me bold it real quick IMO this kind of shows me how invested they are in supporting the 3 manufacturers. (not well at all)
Nice.

When looking at the RDNA 2 highend in that list 6950XT and 6900XT is ultra but 6800XT is high. The difference in performance between the 6900XT and 6800XT is like 6-7%.

The 3090 - 3080 and both TI models are all ultra.

Nice.

When looking at the RDNA 2 highend in that list 6950XT and 6900XT is ultra but 6800XT is high. The difference in performance between the 6900XT and 6800XT is like 6-7%.

The 3090 - 3080 and both TI models are all ultra.

I really hope AMD performance is decent in this on the Nvidia side it's semi disappointing.

Might try to repair.

So the game isn't for you cool there are a ton of games I don't like as well.
Yeah but regardless, this is good because somebody else could use the concept for something more. I loved the idea of exploration the way they did, my only complain is that they stopped there.
