You transfer Chia Plots.
I think the e21 dont like these File Type.
you have:
ELFK1N.x:E21T + KIOXIA 112L TLC 1Tbit 2-Plane (1TB/2TB/4TB)

Check Temperatures with Hwmonitor or other tools.
I use phision nvme 1.5.0 Driver, it works a little bit better.
I do not transfer chia plots. It was just a test to check the typing speed. I'm going to use the disk for the system and for games.

The temperature has reached a maximum of 69º C. The ssd has the motherboard heatsink.

I have a Kingston OM8PGP4512Q-A0, a 500GB ssd for system builders which is not sold to consumers, it was installed in a Minisforum pc I bought a month ago. It has firmware version ELFK0S.6 which is also used in some NV2 ssd's, so probably it is a rebranded NV2.

I got a new one today from Amazon and for me it's superfast but it's very hot, 47ºC compared to my usual Samsung one which is at around 30º testing them a few times in a row repplacing one for the other.

Is it also hot for you?

Since I use it in my laptop over my lap it makes a huge difference. The Samsung I don't notice it hot but with this NV2 I'm sweating in minutes.

Meaning I will have to return it even when I love how fast and cheap it is.

Any advice for a cheap similar one 1TB or 500GB that stays at 30º?

Nevertheless, the speed of mine SNV2S/4000G is similar to QLC drives, see the sustained write speed after cache runs out. And SLC cache recovery is very slow if there is.
(Please note that the read speed is impaired by using only Gen3x2 slot).

I have the same NV2 4TB drive in an Unraid server and face at the moment the same issue. Disk read from system is around 3GB/s and write drops after 5GB Transfer to 110MB/s, but somehow in an Uraid container which is called Diskspeed it delivers me 1.3GB/s read and 1.2GB/s write with each 4GB Files:
1689010310027.png

1689010401429.png

And the second drive KC3000 1TB has no issues with writing as an example:
1689010486393.png

I could sware that this problem occured since couple of days, since before I remember that I had at least with 64GB files the write speed did not decreased, that said the SLC cache hasnt already filled.

I thought that this is an unraid problem but now I see that you also have a similar problem. Because anyhow what kind of SLC cache this NV2 has, at least 64GB should be available but now it seems like after 5GB the speed drops damatically.

I tried to check almost all revievs about NV2 but non of them shows a such performance drop in a such short period, or do anyone knows a review that explains this problem?

for Silicon Motion Controller you should use "SMI nvme flash id"

i've run it and got the results:

is it a good drive?

KSM says there is new firmware for the SSD. I haven't dared to update yet. Has anyone here updated it? Doesn't it cause problems, lower performance, etc.? Maybe it got better?

Recently bought Kingston NV2 1TB at 52 USD from a reputable seller in South America.
019.A01G = QLC.

Using Pcie 3.0.
With ASUS TUF Motherboard Heatsink.
Freshly formatted.
Idle nvme temps is stable at 32°C (at about 15°C ambient temps).

Note: Download from http://vlo.name:3000/ssdtool/ and use Google Chrome, it says site not secure, ignore it. Other versions downloaded elsewhere would not recognize the SSDs, it took me a long time to find this one that worked.

I removed the cover and took a few more pictures: 019.A01G

I've seen lots of models on the internet that have 4 chips, i wonder... why does this one have only 2? (It's 1 TB capacity)

These companies should be sued for changing components that make such a huge difference in performance and durability. I wonder why this hasn't happened yet.

Problem in many cases is availability. i do agree that its completly wrong what they do, but we need to understand that these manufacturers they just buy these ICs for their SSDs when they manufacturer themselves, not considering "white labeling".
The problem is that they can't get an infinite number of batches for a single product, in my opinion, they should be transparent about it, saying that it could change and list in details all the different variants

I don't think this is a good excuse, nand companies have been in overstock for almost 1 year, they could easily create two lines like Samsung's QVO and EVO, almost identical products but with different component characteristics and pricing adjusted accordingly.

Changing the Nand is something extremely serious, it's the same as selling an EV advertising a range of 500 miles and a maximum speed of 220km/h, the customer is happy with what they see in the marketing and decides to buy, then at the factory the company changes the components and sells half of its customers an inferior product with a range of 200 miles and a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The question is, in this case, would it also go unnoticed? I'm pretty sure this practice is illegal in most countries.
