New parts for a build for a musician friend. Budget build. 12400, b660 32gb ddr4, 2tb nvme. Thing is one of the ram sticks is dead. Been RMAing Gskill more often lately (I do quite a few builds on the regular). Reseated the processor/heatsink and ram, tried multiple slots and just cant get past the red light. Hes gonna have to do with 16GB til I get get another kit in. :(
As cheap as DDR4 is now just get a 2x32GB kit. ;)

That new Intel stock cooler looks cool! I know it's mainly plastic, but still. :)

Because it's heatingfolding season, and I have PPD envy:

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
received the TB Recon Cloud ...

no difference: good quality 3m sleeved C to A cable
20231018_095705.jpg

differences : well ... they took my only gripe with the Recon grip ... and made it better (side grip was a bit too rubbery, trigger and face button where too textured and overall shell was a bit too shinny, which all attracted grim like flies to a sh!t  will clean the recon thoroughly before re selling it and making at least half of my spending in return, already have a buyer ;) )
20231018_095832.jpg20231018_095841.jpg

biggest difference? well the phone support is nice, but as i wrote, a bit redudant to the Kishi, still nice to have it, the thumbscrew is a metal one, the rest is plastic but feel solid enough
20231018_095959.jpg20231018_100005.jpg

"you gotta be kidding me!!!???" moment ... you can separate the holder from the mounting adapter and it has a prop stand on the back? now that's awesome

a little heavier also (normal, integrated battery weighs a bit) but i prefer it like that, works perfectly fine and the soundcard section (which was the main argument in favor of the Recon ) is still awesome (even tho i only use it on very few occasions )

as @Chomiq wrote, it's a Turtle Beach, it does indeed look like the Elite controller but quite cheaper and bloody good ... i ran some years with the "non Cloud" model and it's quite good for the price it's a sub 100$ ("non Cloud" is around 59$ iirc ) which feature a better sound card part as i mentioned, well, iirc TB was known for their soundcards and the original Recon was their first attempt at a XBox/PC controller (plus other customization ), the Cloud is same plus bluetooth and Android compatibility and i forgot to mention, it has a gift card in the package with 1 month of Game Pass Ultimate.

I hope that GPU from ASrock is good to you, my ASrock Phantom D OC 6900 XT was not great, massive coil whine and hard to cool without insanely loud fan noise.

I am digging the look of your case. Is it going to be able to cool a 7900 XTX?

ah...
bought that game on sale for 5.45chf ... instead of 59.90, well, at that price i don't mind the early 2000s graphic for a 2019 game ... and i am a hardcore fan of the series (manga more than anime, as usual )

well let's say if i sank 2.5hrs right at the start : i like it and will play a bit more for fun time killing ...

I'll let you know this weekend - ordered the white 240 because my current AIO is running hot on the 5800X3D.

Software Windows 11 Pro
I'll let you know this weekend - ordered the white 240 because my current AIO is running hot on the 5800X3D.
Please do! Curious if I can squeeze a lil more out of my X3D too, and the new design looks awesome.

This is with my X3D.. I saw it idle down to 24c..

I mean, extra fans on it, 360mm vs 240, very different use cases, but that's part of what made me order. Did you do anything to offset the mount?

No need to offset your mount if you are using Thermalright. The extra fans are more for my ram than anything.. I just wiped out a massive chunk of caseflow to accommodate the rad. Temps are not that different compared to what I am used to. Winter is coming so that will bring more of a chill..

My GTX1660s in my editing rig died today, so I needed something cheap to replace it.
I dunno why it would die. They don't even suck up watts as much as most cards these days do. So, it makes a MOSFET failure less likely on a GTX 16 series.

I dont either. Its tech and no matter how much or how little power they use, they can die on day 1 or day 1000. Only killed one gpu in the past (out of several dozen personally and double that for client builds). It just didn't display one day and when I put in another card, it fired right up. I haven't had much time to investigate as I have had two memory kit failures to deal with lately. When I get it taken apart, Ill be sure to post pics of what I find.

Bought this earlier. I put a 5950X in my other PC and it is cooled by a budget Air cooler. Well that throttles the CPU at 4.5 GHZ and we all know they can do 5 Ghz. Thanks to Freegent for the Thermalright link. Funnily enough this is replacing a Thermalright Air cooler. I love the 3300 RPM pump speed and the fans come pre installed.
