Yes and no. There are limited Home Single Language licenses which are, well, single language, so you have to watch out for that. If the license you are buying is noted as being strictly SL, then avoid. Other than those, there is no language limitations. Pro editions are, AFAIK, are never SL, so it’s a safer bet.

Yes. Windows CD keys are Version specific, not language specific.

It’s weird. I messed around with them and at least some ARE Language Specific. And since… 1609 I believe they also completely locked down any way to download language packs through the system (was there before). It still is, however, possible to use language packs if you download them manually and then load them up via DISM /Add-Package.

Fair enough. So perhaps the lesson here is to avoid the Home version of Windows. I have been doing that anyway as it's lacking in features I care about..

I bought a retail/FPP license if you people are wondering. I bought it on Amazon.de, the seller was Amazon as well. So that means I shouldn't have any problems with getting the English version for installation. I wasn't sure but I already thought that it's not language depended.

Yeeeeeah, I may not care about, say, domain controls at my home PC, but having no access to Group Policy would be absolutely awful on modern Windows. Then again, lately MS somehow enables features in such a roundabout way that even gpedit gets bypassed, but that’s another discussion altogether.

I't just easier when you got issues with windows to find solutions in English on the internet.
It's harder to find solutions on the internet when using my native language.

Same for me as well. Windows is available in slovene but I got used to using the English version.

You should be able to download language packs if using Pro version.

Got win-10 upgraded to 11 on x99 and efi partitions the way I like them and of course RE working like the other system are

If it's so much work to setup OS why not just not use it?? I use win10pro close to default with a few minor changes (minutes). Reading through this thread makes me wondering if w11 is utter crap or some people are OCD or other?

10-11 OS is quite easy to setup with reg files but I tried 0&0 just for kicks
Worst is reinstalling activated payware which macirum reflect solved that issue fairly quickly just dropping original C onto a clean installs C

But I'm guessing you missed the MS brain fart install process bug that popped up recently because the RE partition is to small and very easily broken still at the end of C
Hell use disk management and just right click C and select Shrink volume RE stays at the end of the disk but is broken off C lol and literally broken now the update will fail.

I tried this out on my NUC as its a throwaway install anyway, of course the update failed, but surprisingly the Microsoft script also failed. So much for that script eh. I found a script from action1 which worked and expanded, the update installed. However that script states it wont be of any...

So is it something just to tough out until patched, OR when doing a fresh install would it make sense to manually set it to 2GB or something?

Default install..................well I usually use Pro and disconnect from the net, so the installation is local.

Well I never could figure out how to set the installers RE 2gb
The installer still made another one at the end of C lol
So yeah the installer is stuck on weird ms engineer bs policy.

So I settled on creating a primary partition 2gb then installed 10 or 11 on the rest of the disk
Then just formatted the 2gb RE partition after it was done and delete the original
Dude at 11f gave me this to redirect the RE to the first partition I made.

1) Disable the recovery partition by running in cmd as admin
reagentc /disable

2)Assign a drive letter to the Recovery Tools partition that
you want Windows to use (this is only temporary).
assign letter=R

3)Run the command
reagentc /setreimage /path R:\Recovery\WindowsRE /target C:\Windows

NOTE: Replace the R: with the drive letter that you assigned to the
Recovery Tools partition.

4)Run
reagentc /enable

5)Verify that this worked by running
reagentc /info

6) You can now remove the drive letter that you assigned to the
Recovery Tools partition.
remove letter=R

Microsoft is reportedly updating the CPU instruction support on Windows 11 with a new "POPCOUNT" instruction, which means systems with very old PCs won't be able to bypass requirements.
