Hey,

Found a game where this happens constantly so it should be fairly easy for anyone owning the game to reproduce..

(Tested 0.67v)

! You must choose a smaller resolution than what your monitor's native and run in fullscreen..
Depending on the resolution you'll get similar result.. The edges will be glitched..

Interesting. This is the exact same issue that my mid-2010 Mac mini's GeForce 320M exhibits with the 342.01 driver as I mentioned on my reference thread. It doesn't seem to be bound by any specific API, and the affected programs invariably exhibit the symptom. The solution I found was to install an older driver branch intended for the preceding Curie generation GPUs. Since it's both an old and low-end GPU and it's also running on an older OS (Windows 8.1), this didn't bother me as there was no noticeable performance hit and the older drivers seemed to play better with its nForce chipset anyway.

I have also run into artifacting with my RTX 4080 (on Windows 10) lately, using the latest drivers that support the SUPER series, except that they only last for a split second, happening when I have a Chromium-based browser (I am currently using Opera GX) or Discord open, and instead of black, the artifacts are white. It's not a problem as I don't seem to have any broken games or applications like my Mac mini or your computer show, but I have noticed it when it occurs.

Yeap I read about it, let's hope they fix at least some of the interface issues.. It's not in browsers only.. Apparently all applications that use electron framework.. I even get it while in video call on viber..

As for the CortixTH bug they haven't concluded as to what is causing it.. in any case a new ticket has been logged to Nvidia.. More details bellow..
[Bug] Black bars in fullscreen (NVIDIA) · Issue #2301 · CorsixTH/CorsixTH · GitHub
You guys are the software specialists, but this looks a bit like the thing I experienced in Minecraft Legends. I could manipulate the checkerboard behaviour related to G-Sync/V-Sync by altering the clocks of my GPU with command line.

I shared it here:

Unfortunately I've been plagued with this across two win10 computers.
- Frist was my gen3 3930k with Aurous Elite 3060 12GB
- Second was my Gen 7 7700 with Vision OC 3080TI

The only commonality is i run triple screen at 144hz on both setups.
For me it first appeared after Nvidia drive 530 where they admit, a known issue with "Some monitors may display random black screen flicker when in Display Stream Compression mode when using R530 drivers [4034096]"
But unfortunately it persists even after running older drivers.

It's like some fault surfaced and now persists and I don't believe three new cables or screens or any new systems are going to have the issue go away as long as I'm:
1) using multi monitor display port
2) using fast refresh rates.
3) same psu

I guess I have to live with it, its especially bad if you watch youtube on any screen (the video mode enables displays stream compression) and have 2d UI content on another screen (usually gets the corrupt image/artifacting)

honestly, it visually does my head in. my machines are super stable (they can ycrunch without an issue) and im at a loss what to do besides drop everything back to 60hz

Just swapped my 3090 for a 4090 (guess I'll need to change my username here now), reset my chrome://flags settings, no artifacts so far.
Edit: Not in outlook, not in discord, not in browser. Maybe it was the 3090 after all...

Did you install the latest hotfix driver with the latency fixes that released after the RTX 4080 SUPER? I just upgraded to that and I haven't seen the split second artifacts ever since. Been 2 days or so.

Not yet, I read it should be installed (as they usually say) only in the case when you experience the described problems, so still on 551.23 here

Edit: Nevertheless I had some spare time, so I just tested that hotfix driver and now I really recommend against installing it.
The driver will corrupt after reboot (at least here for RTX 4090) and it reverts to a basic display adapter driver, forcing my monitor at 64Hz for some reason.

I just read something about Chromium checkerboarding problem and that looks like the problem I was being afflicted with. The hotfix driver fixed it, worth a try. Here's the link

Unfortunately, that's the one I already tested and had some bad luck with as mentioned above. So for now, I'll stick with 551.23.
But, as a first timid but positive remark, the G-Sync flickering which I often experienced when alt-tabbing from games to apps like Discord or Adobe Premiere Pro, is now totally gone with this 4090.

AFAIK this flickering should only occur if you have "Windowed G-Sync" force enabled on the NVCP, it happens to me on occasion

With the RTX 3090, this flicker started regardless of the Fullscreen/Windowed G-Sync setting. And now with the 4090, I cannot reproduce it anymore, so that's the first plus.

Hi guys.

I read the entire thread and I'm having a very similar issue.
Firstly I thought it could be DP cable but I'm using a full HD monitor as well with HDMI and I'm having problems in both monitors. I also thought about PCI slot because I have a GALAX 3080 and it's huge but if it's was not plugged correctly the problem would be more consistent, right? It doesn't follow a pattern at all.

I've never experience this on games and while I'm animating and rendering (After Effects, Animate, Premiere, Photoshop, etc). The only time I got a message while playing it's because I was alt tabing to other tasks with a very heavy game (Alan Wake). So I don't think it was a matter of gaming because 99,99% of times occur on idle or watching videos/navigating (I use Edge but I also had the same with Chrome).

artefato.jpg

*this was the only time that the issue caught almost the entire screen and I had time to take a picture. But mostly it's just flickering when I change windows or tabs like the examples I saw on this thread.

*this was the message I got on Alan Wake. It's basically saying the GPU had a critical failure. But like I said I was alt tabing to get some prints. I think this might be the cause of the error because I played many hours with mid-high options with any sign of a problem.

The only plus here is that I'm also facing HDR issue. When it's on and depending on the video I play (screen captured 1440p) I have this crazy purple and green stuff. Or sometimes I try to print something, the brightness is too high.

I even thought about buying a vertical mount kit to relieve my PCI slot but I don't think this is the problem. Temperatures and clocks are stable and cool. My first attempt is going to be installing an older gpu driver.

Just my advice, it’s always better to not post private/work related information like that printscreen you posted from Slack, you never know the consequences.

Regardless of that remark, let’s just wait on Microsoft, because drivers even gpu type or series don’t matter here actually …

Im also having the same kind of problem, only in 2D. Made a post on reddit today to see if anyone knows something.

I'm also having some weird DirectX Error Device Hung when playing some games, which i think it may be related.
Tried downclocking, undervolting, changing the hdmi cable. I'm using a 4070Ti @ 144hz 4k.

thanks for your concern bro  but there is no important information in the screenshots
I was thinking about an older nvidia driver hahah but it seems it won't work based on what you're saying.

I didn't receive any error. Just the one I listed on Alan Wake but like I said I think it was an isolated case.

I shared it here:

I can absolutely guarantee that CortixTH bug is application side, after reviewing the code its a surprise there isn't more issues since the developer has no synchronisation for resource loading and usage at all.

I'm also having some weird DirectX Error Device Hung when playing some games, which i think it may be related.

Unrelated.

Need to correct this, G-sync flicker came back, so no improvements here either.

I'm experiencing this issue with my video card as well, an RTX 3060. I've had a few black screen crashes with entries in the Event Viewer citing "The iommu fault reporting has been initialized.". My video card is out of warranty so I'll probably have to buy a new card.

CortixTH has been fixed, was a bad release of resources on the current frames end contributing to the problem.

First of all, hello,

I am having a black square problem, I am currently using Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3060, I was using 1050 TI before, I switched to 3060 at the beginning of this year at the end of January, I was already having problems while using 1050 TI, I bought a new card, the problem still persists that there is a problem with the video card. I don't think so because I tried windows 10 and 11, I formatted and both have the problem, but in normal time it was only in chrome, in the last 2 weeks it started to happen in discord, will this situation start to spread or will this problem be solved by nvidia, this situation bothers me.
I would be grateful if you could give me some information

Some of the recent posts to this thread are actually about the issue in https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...l-lines-partial-solutions-to-this-issue.30662, which is not the same issue that the OP is talking about.

Do you still experience this? It appears to be an application issue not unlike the one with CortixTH.
