The TPU UK Clubhouse

If you still own a fiesta ST, watching a video it doesn't look that hard to replace the driver side headlight bulbs. The passenger side you need to remove the unit which is just 3 thumb screws and then yank it out.
Yep, still the ST. :) I've watched the video on the Ford website. It's simple enough, but I need a large flat-head and a hex (or torx?) screwdriver, which I don't have. :ohwell:

Edit: Right, I've ordered a set of bulbs and screwdrivers from Amazon. I hope they'll fit and I won't botch it somehow (the only DIY I'm good at is food and computers). :D

Next thing you know you will be buying a socket set from Halfords advanced(decent set to be honest), which I carry their 100 piece with me on the go and I have a 200 set that I have split with my older bro but I think i'll just let him have it as I have left it with my parents.
If you was near Daventry/Northampton I would probably consider lending a hand if needed.

I'm about 65 miles up North - not too far in general, but probably way too far for a light bulb change. The bulbs and screwdrivers are coming tomorrow. I'll have a go on Friday, see if I manage to break something. :D

Ah you will be fine.

On a different note, for those on 900+ mbps internet speed has anyone had any luck in getting almost close to that speed via powerline adapter?
After going back and fourth thinking my package deal didn't upgrade, i've figured i'm somehow limited by my powerline adapter as i've connected my phone via ethernet to both the hub and wireless router. Which are getting the near max speed directly.
The powerline adapter is capable of handling upto 1300mbps:

900 Mbps!?

I wish I had anything near that speed! The highest available in my area (and the one I've got) is 35 Mbps.

Yeah I was on 500mbps on BT for 2 years, decided to ask if they can do me a better deal as my contract expired and I was paying as much as their 900mpbs package.
They offered me 2 years at £45 a month deal on 900mbps so its a win lol.

Its actually quite laughable when the best speed i can get in my area is 87mb when im so close to the telephone exchange. I could jump the fence and knock on their window...

I would have thought most places in london would have hyper speed(900+) available?

Maybe im clutching at straws but it could be because London has such a high density of people and not enough bandwidth for everyone so its going to be shared out one small chunk per household.

Which is again pretty dumb because in Hong Kong you have some thousand people living in a towerblock and they are all getting gigabit internet. provided by Hutchison 3G Enterprises/Three. But Three is like the LEADING provider in HK. They are basically the same as BT back in the 80s and 90s when they had their monopoly over the telephone network.

they are all getting gigabit internet.
If that's wired it makes a whole lot of sense.

And yeah, extremely high density makes for higher latencies and lower speeds of wireless connectivity.

I wish I had any local (Russia, Saint P) ISP providing 2+ gigabit connection. I don't mind it being expensive, yet I do mind it being unavailable. It's 2024 already ffs...

Yeah, tell me about it. £32 a month for 35 Mbps max in the middle of England when my parents get 500+ Mbps for literally half of this price in a medium-sized Hungarian town? Ridiculous.

Where does all this money even go? Not for network infrastructure upgrades, that's for sure. :shadedshu:

Romania has even better broadband than Hungary - go figure. Frankly, it's about costs and investment (and spending less means better share price). UK is 47th on that list by median speed.

I'm surprised Virgin dug up our streets a few years ago and put fibre in. My town (east end of Glasgow) isn't wealthy at all. I'm on 500+Mbps. But then, they charged less than what Sky were charging for 36Mbps.

Could also be the a case of yellow tape. Maybe they want to put in the infrastructure for higher speeds but the local council is blocking them when they ask for planning permission to do all the work. Its not completely unheard of for a local council to meddle in those things

Virgin put the new lines down in one half of the town. They just didn't do the other half (the one where I live, naturally).

I have 150Mbs with Sky and it's more than enough for me, I pay £46 a month but that is for the fibre, Talk and TV package. The thing is, about 5 years ago I upgraded my package with Virgin and went from 100 to 300 and I couldn't even tell the difference TBH.

I'm on 100Mbps fibre for £40/month, can get upto 900 but this is fast enough. Humber area

I suppose it also depends on what youre doing. If its just you and the Mrs streaming netflix or prime then 150 is probably more than plenty. I doubt that Tatty or Mrs Tatty is a supreme hoarder of steam games so outright speed is probably not a huge issue.

87mbs works for us just fine although its shared between two people mainly. If i have to do any heavy downloading. I leave it till everyone's asleep before i do.
Still wouldnt mind 1Gig just for bragging rights and maybe loading into games a little bit faster. Watch youtube without the video ever having to buffer

Some 20+ years ago I was doing work experience at an IT dept in a big corporate building. They were downloading files at 700-800mb/s . Ive never seen internet that fast. I cant even pull files from my NAS that fast

I game pretty often, well a couple of hours here and there and my Steam Library is fairly big! The other thing is that I currently get faster upload times than I did when I had the 300 Virgin Fibre. :)

Still worth checking if you can "upgrade" or change your contract, since they like to inflate the price after your term ends, which is what i've done.
I was originally paying £46 then ended up paying £50 something at the end of the contract at 500mbps, now i'm paying £45 for 2 years at 900mbps.

Yeah. We tried asking. We got downgraded instead.

Twas a huge kefuffle a few pages back. Long story short. Our contract was coming to an end after being a customer of theirs for 4 years so we asked if we could have some sort of renewal deal. Their 'deal' was cutting our speed down by half so we paid less despite making it clear we wanted the same speed or higher if they were willing to give it to us.

Couldnt sort it out then tried to transfer us from regular BT Infinity to BT Business and even then they still werent clear about the speeds we would get. So we cancelled our renewal

Damn that sucks, somehow got lucky as I did it online through their web chat.
Then again BT account is still broken for me, I can't add my broadband account number to my login credentials still, so I can't even monitor my bills etc.
So I just get billed whenever every month and I just wait for them to send me a email on when the deal is near end or I keep track of it myself manually. Which is what I tend to do regardless.

We also spoke to about 5 or six different people (from BT - some were based in india and some were based in call centers in the UK somewhere up north.) on the phone and most of them told us something different than the previous person. The guy who was trying to transfer us over to a different department was also a supervisor who for some reason couldn't reverse all the changes and give us back our old package.

I'll never no why or how the situation ended up the way it did.

TalkTalk inflated my price one month after I signed my new contract. There is a clause about a regular yearly increase in March that I didn't know about. I signed in February.

I could definitely tell the difference after a Windows reinstall when pulling my Steam library down. That's why I always keep two SSDs in my system now. One for the OS, the other for my Steam library.

Also, I don't want stellar speeds, but 35 Mbps is slow enough that you can't watch YouTube in FullHD while downloading a game at the same time. :(
