No, NEVER trust HP. Or any OEM. That battery is beyond ready for replacement.

Force them to replace it for safety reasons, and don't take "No" for an answer.

That's a good one. You should be good. The "other" components will be fine.

Why?

In 3 pages of posts in this thread, you have made 3 posts. Not one mentions anything about your CPU overheating. Unless the cured bond of the old TIM (thermal interface material) has been broken, there is no reason to replace it. Sure, you might get a few degrees improvement in cooling, but if you "need" those few degrees to keep from crossing thermal protection thresholds, you have greater cooling issues that need addressing first - like case cooling, cleaning out of heat trapping dust, failing fans, etc.

What are your CPU temps?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

You have already opened it and the laptop is out of warrantee; might as well just replace the battery yourself.

Hi.i want to ask you guys if my battery has a problem or no. HP Support assistant app says my battery is normal
but my laptop battery looks like this.
View attachment 352743
and also i got a warning from my bios that my battery is very weak (2 days ago)
Thermal runaway, that battery will cause a fire you won't be able to put out, get it out of your domicile

Force them to replace it for safety reasons, and don't take "No" for an answer.

That's a good one. You should be good. The "other" components will be fine.
Heck if they don't, blow their facebook, X, instagram, youtube up and Contact Louis Rossmann over it

I was thinking that too, but I've also seen some crazy whack things come out of HP's tech support. I didn't want to call the OP a liar since crazier things have happened. It's best just to give them wise advise focused on safety.

To me it sounds like the kind of person that identifies what department your concern should be dealt with and then passes your call onto someone else. So they probably have no clue about computer stuff. And yes hp in general sucks, so I wouldn’t be surprised their techs say stupid stuff. I’ve had my fair share of it with them and also dell.

Point remains though, that battery is definitely swollen, you should try to get a replacement or something. Don’t use it if possible and be careful if discarding it. That thing mustve gotten real hot lol.

Just remember, it is not that minimum wage worker who's to blame. Proper training is 100% the responsibility of management - from C-Level on down.
